- A high quality item from Banggood.com; self-centering doweling jig.
This jig allows the user to drill even spaced and perfectly centered holes on the edge of boards without the need to measure.
The holes are in metric sizes however I have found you can simply drill out the dies with a standard imperial drill bit.
This jig takes the guess work out and allows for consistent reliable hole drilling and spacing; a great tool to have for extreme accuracy.

I am surprised at how much I learn on your videos. Hope to see more. Love the speed up action. Because you get the process without having to sit through the time you put in. I also like how you talk about problems you run into etc.. great vid
Thanks a lot for the review. I came across this jig recently and was debating whether to go ahead and get it. You helped me to decide in favour. Good tip about checking the screw tension. Cheers!
We all make those engineering adjustments during projects. I think how one responds to those engineering adjustments is what set apart good woodworkers from great ones.
I've used the vise type of these for years, but they take a bit of time to align each hole, so bought one of these and hope it will be faster. Thanks for the tip on the screws. Working on a nine foot bar top assembled in five pieces, would have been a mess if I ran into the same problem.
Just fyi - thickness planer does not make a board flat. It simply shaves the thickness off. The knifes follow the shape of the board. You will get exactly the same defect, just the thinner board
Thanks for the review. I was given one recently and I look forward to using it. I'll keep an eye on those screws. They need the springs because those joints need to rotate as the tool is used.
I crimped mine up fairly tightly today, and it still rotates well
Just watched this and ordered one the other day hoping to help with doing my kitchen cabinets.
Now that is good to know information! Many thanks! Semper Fi
Just checked the bottom of mine, they were loose too. Thanks for the tip
Did you take the end stop off after the first hole drilled in each board? When you measure from hole to hole with this on the tool will rock on this as a pivot thereby screwing up every hole but 5he first one.
@3.58 were you drilling one of the 'hardened' bushings? Surely the point is they should be harder than the drill so they don't wear?
Yes. unfortunately they arent hardened.
@@BubbasWorkbench Thanks for clarifying that :)
mine loosen too, fortunately it happened after i completed drilling the holes
Same here. Actually mine started off perfect and slowly one by one they went off. Of course murphys law takes over and until we are done is it realized.
I am sure that you will be able to find a tool in imperial from an American company. But not for the same price. If you order internationally, be prepared to get the normal standard international measuring.
+1 for metric ;) I'm sure i've seen one of those from an US company with imperial meassurements. Think its called woodpecker or something like this.
can you do 90 degrees furniture pieces or just straight line ones?
As long as your putting the dowels into the middle of each piece being connected.
I noticed the concave shape. note to self: save up and buy dowelmax
most of them are in metric as all the world bar USA uses metric ;)
And yet, imperial measurements put a man on the moon. ;)
@@russellborrego1689 NASA uses metric
@@russellborrego1689 but first metric put man in space. Imagine what would have happened if NASA had used metric :,-)
"It's an awesome tool" then we hear in the bonus content it's not that great at all. Hmmmm.
Absolute waste of time using it to glue up boards. Never ever seen anyone do that
Woodpeckers knockoff. Buy a woodpeckers
Unfortunately woodpeckers no longer makes a self centering dowel jig. The one they made retired in 2014. This one is more robust than theirs.
Drone I bought came in and was defective out of the box. Customer service is a joke at best if they do reply to you. Buyer beware of this company they don't seem to stand behind the products they sell and you will never get the money you spent back. Very disappointed in this company
Sorry you had an issue, they havent been a problem for me as far as customer service is concerned. I have had issues with damaged items in the past and all i did was take pictures of the damaged items and either they sent a new one or refunded money. I will admit there is a huge language barrier; in one instance i made a video showing the issue and all was good. I have found using the chat feature works best to get faster response. Did you get your drone issue resolved?
@@BubbasWorkbench no still dealing with it. From what I read I'll have to ship it to China which will cost almost half of what I bought it for. It was shipped to me from the stock in there New Jersey warehouse so unsure why I would have to ship it to China. Would have no problem shipping back to NJ for a replacement but haven't had luck talking to them about it (email, phone and live chat) had to get PayPal involved which I didn't want to do.
@@1492junus ya, thats absurd to have to ship it back. Glad you used paypal which is why i use it as well. Its the best option with bad service.
@@BubbasWorkbench yup but the only problem after talking with PayPal is that I would still have to ship it back to China if they say so to get my refund at my cost. If that is the case I would end up spending almost half of what I spent on the drone just in shipping back to them. Will never buy from them again such a scam company.
Sorry I couldn't see any of your drilling, thumbs down
My apologies, i try and take muliple angle shots and sometimes i forget to check and make sure i got the footage. Trying to improve thus, thanks for your feedback.
