Project: Bad Decision - 99 GMC Sierra 4x4 Smog / Evap
Join me on my adventure of a potentially bad decision. That decision being to dump money into a 99 GMC Sierra 4x4 with the 5.3 liter engine and over 280,000 miles.
The plans are to fix what needs to be fixed mechanically and then upgrade what may increase its drive-ability and functionality. Basically modernize it where I can while increasing its reliability.
There are even some potential plans to make it an overland capable rig. The truck is paid for so no real loss either way. Join my pain and suffering and see what I come up with.

BBQ Pigtail Flipper kit

Made another handle; woodcraft pigtail flipper kit. (not a sponsor) As usual I attempted to create a more functional long lasting design that over complicated an extremely simple style of turning. I guess its safe to say its the best way to learn; by failing. I am happy with the final results however won't be doing it this way again. Hopefully this video will inspire your next project. Pen Turning: My first Slimline Pen (ASMR)

I was sent a Pen Mill kit free of charge and all that was asked was to make a pen using it. "Don't have to ask me twice". The pen mill worked just fine I was a little conservative for fear of trimming too much. I used Osage Orange which is incredibly hard for a hard wood. Trimming any end grain is a challenge and even more so with Osage. I found the it did its job flawlessly and will continue t...

Hit or Miss 21: Banggood Self-centering Doweling Jig

A high quality item from Banggood.com; self-centering doweling jig. This jig allows the user to drill even spaced and perfectly centered holes on the edge of boards without the need to measure. The holes are in metric sizes however I have found you can simply drill out the dies with a standard imperial drill bit. This jig takes the guess work out and allows for consistent reliable hole drilling...
Harbor Freight 10 x 18 Mini Lathe Bed Extension
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 4 lety
I have believed for quite sometime that many mini lathes were made from the same factory. However between several stores selling their own brand of essentially the same lathe Harbor Freight sells it the cheapest. Very helpful. Definitely going with mineral oil. It also does not go rancid so can buy a gallon and reapply to butcher block counter every month! Thank you!
I'm just starting out trying my first Charcuterie board, and I'm looking for a water proof stain proof relatively maintenance free finish with high gloss. The gloss is the hard thing to get with food grade products from what I'm learning. I was recently advised to use tung oil as a base, then add this watco butcher block oil as a sealer/ glossifier. Does this sound right? Do you know if there will be bonding issues with the tung on there?
Hello from 2024. Great video, thanks!
Thank you for the quick and efficiant video. Mine was squealing at 6am this morning. Very annoying! I wasn't able to get the whole sidepanel off (I have a different model), but I was able to get the metal air vent off the bottom and view that part you were showing us. Frustratingly the fan had flat rivets and I wasn't able to take it apart, but I did shoot it with some WD40 and that did the trick! I'll have to have my husband look at it later, but I was proud I got it going with your help! Thank you again!
Keep it going
Handle on mine broke off the first time I tried to use it. Complete piece of shit product
Ok, wait, burns his kid's Eminem collection? How did that work out for the two of you? 😕
My Treager making the same thing didn't know if it would start a fire. How did you take off the main intake fan is it just a few screws? What did you lube the fan part with?
I had this lathe for about 6 years. It's great, until you have to put a new belt on. There is no easy way of changing the belt. I followed the directions on CZcams to no avail. It is a big royal pain. I ended up tossing the lathe out. That is the only issue that is disappointing.
Ya, i have been noticing a weakness in the motor as well, time to get serious and upgrade. Its a great lathe for someone to get their feet wet so to speak. However with any seriousness towards woodturning, upgrading is a must.
You need three wheels to form a triangle around the wood to stabilize
Clear and concise. Problem identified and fixed. Thanku!
Thank you so much. I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on the 4 pack before watching.
Thanks for this video. Everything I looked up said auger jam. I diagnosed as you showed and it was the fan on the auger motor. I took apart and regressed with lithium grease. Works fantastic 4.99 instead of 70.00 for a new auger motor.
And the cost??
I am sure that you will be able to find a tool in imperial from an American company. But not for the same price. If you order internationally, be prepared to get the normal standard international measuring.
Great video thank you!:)
Home Depot no longer carries this chuck
I seen beeswax and walnut oil work really well vs mineral oil. I have some rosewood bowls, and a maple butcher block, and I have a can of Watco. Wondering if I should use it or not....I guess one can always remove it if its not to liking. Nice examples to see in your comparison..
I noticed the concave shape. note to self: save up and buy dowelmax
Thank you! My Texas grill just started doing this. Im going to tackle the job soon.
Great videos. Will you be doing one on the process of making and turning one of those awesome-looking blocks you've glued up?
Where can you get replacement blades?
I don’t understand how it’d hold the shaft of a pool cue. I can buy this at harbor for 148. Display model. It doesn’t come with anything extra.
Your going to need a chuck for the head stock with jaws big enough to hold your blank and live center for tail stock.
Hey freind. Can that be used for pool cue shafts? I just wanna use it to redo the end of a pool cue.
I would say yes if its a multi section pool cue. For instance with the bed extension you should be able to turn a baseball bat. If the section is the same or smaller than a bat the yes. Will need a stabilizer for middle of cue to minimize flexing as you turn.
@@BubbasWorkbench it’d be just the shaft. I unscrew it from the butt end.
Dude , that "music" is so extremely annoying ! .... maybe im just old but i finally had to stop the video...
Thanks. I was curious about this and happy to see that it's a winner.
Five years down the road and your video is still helpful to us pellet cooker guys. My fan would sometimes fail to start when I turned the controller on. I would have the get under it and spin it a time or two. It was an easy fix and the Amazing delivery guy delivered a new fan in 2 days. :) That was a couple of years ago.
Thanks for the comment, my intent was to provide an update. My fan is still going after that fix. I do plan to upgrade the old beast as everything internal is beginning to erode away. Hot pot, etc. Traegers are so costly so i keep nursing it along.
Absolute waste of time using it to glue up boards. Never ever seen anyone do that
Having just got interested in Wood turning and trying Carbide tools for the first time I did indeed, find this informative
I made mine with 3 wheels
I went and got matching paint for mine........
Ya i thought about the same thing. Paint them to match.
How do I keep it from flipping out of its orientation? Mine is as confused as a California teenager.
You say... "There always in METRIC"...and that keeps you hesatant..??? That should make it better..! - Dear American citizen, you yanks amaze us. Please get with the REST of the world, and make the move over to METRIC ( Like nearly every other country in the world has..! ) - incredibly ignorant, Sorry. but thanks for the video.
Thank you!
Can I use MAP (yellow) gas with this torch? I need it to solder copper pipes.
Yes
Exact same issue. Thanks for the direction. Will have a new fan tomorrow from Ace Hardware.
I sprayed that area with chain and cable lube, now running like brand new. Thanks for the tip.
Question after use the product can still add mineral oil to maintain it or do use the same product?
This helps immensely! I didn’t realize there were 2 different fans as I never looked. Anyway your video was very informative even though I forwarded to the last few minutes when you found the culprit. 😊
Hey Bubs, Imma blow your mind right now… mix the mineral oil and watco bb oil together @1:1, then apply…
Thanks!! This video helped me pinpoint where that damn squealing noise was coming from! I was able to just lube it with some CLP and an application straw without disassembling anything.
Great video Mike! I just picked up one yesterday for making pens and bowels. Thanks for sharing your video👍
So helpful. Thank you!!! 👏👏👏
I make spindles and other tiny things for my dollhouse miniature's. Working out well for me.
"Great" made in China by CCP,
people like the look. they dont want it one color
Жаль не показали какие банки внутри аккумуляторов...
Like from Russia👍
I have had this lathe for a little over five years now it may be small but it turns wood very well I make a lot of small items so this is all the lathe I needed. And changing the speed is no problem to me it gives me time to think on what I am turning I have a bed extension on mine when I need it but most of the time I don't need it but if I do I have it.
How do you put the wood in both side please teach me how thanks
