I agree, but also it kinda depends on the area, sometimes, tbh. Might be a small rural area where the cops don't have better shit to do, for example. I grew up in a small town, and got into a small accident and subsequently arrested, one of the cops or EMS or something on-scene did me a favor after I was taken away and drove my car back to my house (a mile or 2 on back roads) - and I didn't know anybody there. No bill or tow truck or anything, somebody just did me a solid b/c it was near my house and they had nothing better to do. Never found out who, was just waiting for me when I got home. As for spending the night in jail, it depends on the PD's policy. Some require that you sober up before letting you go home, but some will let you go sooner if you have somebody pick you up, as is usually the case with minors. The gun thing is the big one for me, though. There's no real excuse for that Cops usually give other cops leeway there b/c it's their service weapon, but a lot of avg people would get have that tacked on as well.
I saw plenty of dui arrests, most of the time they park the cars and be nice. Only if ur acti g out it sucks. But front cuffs is a favor surely. First one was a close friend/ckworker and still didnt get off.
you can feel for the first guy while acknowledging that a regular citizen having a bad day would never in a million years have been handled with the same kid gloves.
I realize this can be seen as an excuse, but when these officers come across people in public they deal with, they have no idea who that person theyre dealing with is and what theyre like. The first officer and Auggie are clearly friends and he knew Auggie well enough to be able to take the extra leeway and not fear for his safety. I dont agree with how people are treated by officers in everyday situations a lot of the time, but in some circumstances, knowing the shit officers see on an average day, I can understand how the fear can cause the attitude.
@@Kisha_canwell a way to solve the stranger problem is require cops live in the neighborhoods they patrol, instead of coming to town on patrol and then going home to a suburb a county away. These videos have a scary theme, they continually reference the body cams and the ol “you know I can’t let you go” which only makes me sure that for the decades before body cams cops routinely hid each others crimes without hesitation.
This is exactly why so many cops are against body cameras. They prefer the old days where they could be corrupt and get away with it. They don't like that the cameras hold them accountable for their actions.
I just looked up the case of Amanda Caton. Somehow she was found NOT GUILTY of her charges.. Also she wasn't charged for carrying a gun while drunk neither was her husband. This reeks of injustice to me.
"I'm an officer too" should always be followed by the investigating officer saying "That means you should be driving sober and setting an example of what to do on the road, and you already know the procedure to find out if that's what is going on."
Exactly. But funny how they always get light sentences (and that's the ones that don't just let off by their "brothers in blue"). Such bs. They should have higher sentences cuz like you said they're in a position of power and with power comes responsibility.

Saying that you can't let someone go because it's recorded doesn't mean you would let them go if it weren't recorded. I'm not a cop, but if I were, tbh I'd probably say the same thing, not because I'd let them go if it weren't recorded, but because I don't want to escalate the situation (especially since they're armed). Maybe you're right maybe he would have, but I don't think you can assume that based on what was said. I mean haven't you ever had to deal with someone who's argumentative or volatile and lied to them a little to try and direct their feelings away from you?
Nothing to worry about. Eventually, a court let her off. Not guilty of anything, and still on the job. And probably still driving wasted now that she knows she’s allowed to.
For those interested in the second officer in video, here is a bit about her husband in the kilt. Lt. Patrick Caton in 2002: Caton admitted to investigators that he called a pedestrian a “stupid n****r” while in his patrol car. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Caton faced several accusations before this, including one in 1999 in which a woman claimed he directed the N-word at her 15-year-old son. (Separately, Caton was fired over an assault charge connected to the November 2000 death of Roger Owensby while in police custody. An independent arbitrator reinstated Caton and awarded him $200,000 in back pay.) According to Fox 19, Caton is married to Amanda Caton, a CPD captain who is currently in charge of the Internal Investigations Section that investigates officer misconduct.
You could tell he has some serious demons that he needed to face. I’m glad nobody was hurt in the accident and glad he had to face the consequences. That being said it was very sad. He was breaking down and being told someone cared for him got him to start talking. Hope he figures things out, I think there is something more than alcohol he was dealing with.
Feels like an addiction which is just starting to spiral and its surfacing. I am one myself (clean for 5 years), it doesnt make anything right but i really feel for the guy.
It is CRAZY they can talk to another cop like this, give them chance after chance after chance to own up to it, like they would never be this chill with a civilian, the people they are supposed to protect.
They certainly would not have treated me like they did Auggie. I'd been grabbed, roughed up, searched, accused of resisting, thrown on the ground, punched, kicked, tased, pepper sprayed and dragged into a cell. After court I'd be without a license, jailed, fined some outrageous amount and would owe some blood sucking attorney a fortune. The double standards are blatant.
It’s disturbing to think of how many DUI’s the first cop issued when he’s an absolute train wreck himself. The cop interrogating him sounds absolutely desperate and is wasting so much time and energy with that clown.
It's pretty interesting in the second video how scared the officer that pulled the two police officers over seemed. He obviously knows firsthand how easily things can escalate with huge egos that are carrying weapons.
Exactly, but still crazy how both people were drunk with guns and nobody got shot, the officer didn't "fear for his life", and they never even took the weapon away from the passenger. Let that be a black man and his wife who aren't even drunk and see how fast it escalates to a lethal situation.
@OhShanna Exactly! If those were regular citizens, especially black or brown, this would have escalated really quickly, and someone probably would have wound up dead.
You can tell the second officer would have easily let them drive home if there weren't dash cams. He was seriously conflicted about arresting her, which is ridiculous. I can understand it's another cop, but that just makes it all the more disgusting. Her and her boyfriend both drunk, armed and mr. kilt being belligerent and aggressive.
My lieutenant at the Texas sheriff's office told me he was going through a bad divorce a while back. He was drunk driving and got stopped. 😂He got an escort home because he was on the liquor control board.😅 This was all before surveillance, Body cams, and cell phones. The amount of patience spent with AUGGIE and how carefully words were chosen helped deescalate a serious intervention. I was barely blinking, breathing, and imagining how BIG this guy is and unstable in the moment. I felt like any minute he would have snapped!! The inaudible words he spoke, crashing his patrol vehicle, drinking under the influence and being an officer of the law. Taking into consideration how crazy he was offered to keep his job (possibly) and standing near all those weapons.. I came here to see this to help better understand the truth. We all have faults. But I am most shocked how it all goes down with this specific interaction alone. Versus a civilian would never have this luxury.. The amount of level of understanding he was given is sad, but beautiful. The officer who had to deal with his corrupted self is a good person and appreciate people like him being in the position he's in to help protect us from bad people.

I really hate that this officer is giving her more consideration than he would someone who's not a police officer. She should be held to a higher standard. The husband is a complete jerk. 4 blocks is still enough time to hurt or kill someone, and he knows that!
I give them a bit more of a pass for being much nicer during the stop of a fellow officer. When other cops see, and they see you not being nice, or even enjoying arresting officers, your own department will turn on you. Next time you're in a dangerous life or death situation, dont expect backup. They HAVE to at least be nice. It could result in death.
4 blocks is not the point. They committed a crime. If I was to steal a TV and walk home but get caught a block from my house.... I'm not arguing your point but I'm just elaborating I guess.
I’m not sure why everyone’s so upset about this. It seems like an honest mistake. Keep in mind: these are the same people that have been protecting us all of our lives. The least we can do is give them a break.
“I havent had too much drink 👋” “You haven’t had too much drink “ “I am free to go home and you wish me a good night👋” “You are free to go and i wish you a good night”
I feel like the police officer is that considerate to them because both the husband and wife are drunk and armed. He's probably worried for his life and not trying to set off a fuse that would escalate the situation into something fatal. He's also not backed up, so I get it.
“I don’t want a ride from you guys!” followed by an angry walk away from the car in a kilt at 17:50 gave me one of the biggest laughs in recent memory.
Huh? Only the second one. The first one he seemed pretty legitimately intent on not letting someone that drunk drive when he'd *already* crashed and the last one they didn't even seem to know he was also law enforcement so no.
In the military we get a lot of folks who do stupid shit like drink and drive, get caught on a drug test, basically end their careers, and those guys always think it's the end of the world and the best thing they can do it just crash and burn hard-core. If anyone out there does find themselves in a helpless situation where they feel like they fucked up and there's no way out, there is and you have choices. Call the crisis hotline, talk to your boss, tell your friends, talk to your spouse.
How very gracious of that officer.! It must be nice to get such empathy.! Typical hypocrisy from those "serving & protecting" "How would you like me to go about covering this up?"

@@Jeff-66or one of his piglet's
If police departments have money to buy military weaponry to use against civilians then they should have enough money to provide a 3 to 4 apartment house in each neighborhood so the cops can actually learn the community they patrol in and become ingratiated with families so they are more understanding like in the situation with Auggie

"that got caught" is the key. Wonder how many keep rolling cuz of that thin blue line

“I havent had too much drink 👋”
“You haven’t had too much drink “

I feel like the police officer is that considerate to them because both the husband and wife are drunk and armed. He's probably worried for his life and not trying to set off a fuse that would escalate the situation into something fatal. He's also not backed up, so I get it.
“I don’t want a ride from you guys!” followed by an angry walk away from the car in a kilt at 17:50 gave me one of the biggest laughs in recent memory.
