I don't know why some people hate marines. I love marines (especially Garp and Sengoku), even tho they are antagonists in the series. Technically, they aren't antagonist in full meaning of that word. They are antagonists only because they are fighting Straw Hats, but let's remember that Straw Hats are pirates. Marines are fighting to save people from being robbed, or killed etc.
I really want to know how the Admirals find/receive their devil fruits. Do they show massive talent in their early years and are given a powerful fruit? It seems far fetched that they wouldn't get one from the W.G. but we also have Marines who find devil fruits and eat them, who aren't skilled enough to use them properly. All the Admirals have ridiculously powerful fruits. Did they wait until some level of admiral rank to give them? How is each fruit designated? (Does Vegapunk evaluate potential admiral-level candidates and choose a powerful fruit from the WG stash based on the person?) When and how? We need to know, Oda.
I always thought it was they ate the fruit before becoming admrials and because the fruits are so powerful they rapidly became admrials because of the inherent advantages of a devil fruit.
I really wish we could see the Marines doing good. Also with the vast amount of different islands they come from I'm kinda surprised we don't get some Imperial Guard type Marine Regiments, like Marines who come from winter islands that are specialized to fight in conditions like that.

This was the video I did not expect, but it was sorely needed for those of us who do not have prior military knowledge, on land or on the sea. The Marines/the Navy are a bit of a problematic entity, as you said. Despite being the organization tasked with upholding order, peace, and ultimately justice within the One Piece world, they are not without corruption or people abusing their given authority as well. Here's looking at you, Morgan, Helmeppo, Nezumi, Fullbody, and especially Akainu/Sakazuki. Out of all of these, only Helmeppo has shown any signs of growth or remorse over their actions; and this isn't counting the apathy and conflicts of interest with the Tenrybito and the World Government, starting at the Rear Admiral tier, lower if you count (Captain) Smoker and (Master Chief Petty Officer) Tashigi post Alabasta being forced to accept credit for bringing down Baroque Works. P.S. I remember that Pudding character because of their purple hair and stupid looking face. I didn't know that Choo, Kuroobi and Hatchan brought down a commodore's ship when Arlong decided to show off his crew's strength to the audience. Good Oda preserve us, that was a cool scene, but also kind of scary as this was not the first time the citizens of the island sent for help I would think. Arlong is absolute in his tyranny and enslavement of the "puny humans", and sinking Commodore Pudding's ship was the icing on the cake to prove it.

if bounty hunters weren't bigger jokes than fodder marines i think an organization of them in the mafia style the marines originally had would be a cool idea for a movie/ova. :3
One Piece’ Marines are at the top of my favorite three organizations in anime with the Hashira (Demon Slayer) being second and Askeladd Pirates (Vinland Saga) being 3rd.
@Kami The navy did go all out at Marineford. @Darien Forney That's the whole point of the Emperors and the warlords. The navy can't handle the Emperors directly which is why they can have vast territories consisting of numerous countries. Otherwise the Marines would have put an end to the emperors long ago. The Emperors are strong and to deal with even one of them takes massive manpower and resources which the Marines can't spare considering the vast myriad of pirate crews running amok all over the world that need to be dealt with. To make things worse for them they're also in a full scale war with the revolutionary army. That's why the World Government has to resort to doing things like relying on the Warlords to help try and regain control in the "Great Pirate Era".
@@Haikami One Admiral take on not only an Emperor, but all of their alliance? I think you need to rewatch the show bro. Just one of Shanks' commanders stopped Kizaru in his tracks with a threat. WB almost killed Akainu after taking a ridiculous amount of damage to himself already. The Yonko are stronger than the admirals. Doflamingo was willing to go toe to toe with an Admiral when pressured to, but the thought of facing Kaido struck fear into him because of the vast power difference. If the Navy was as strong as you think, there wouldn't be any point in summoning all the warlords, gathering a massive army of Marine and hunkering down in your strongest fortress just so you could fight a single Yonko's forces. I'm not saying the Navy as a whole couldn't take a Yonko's forces head on. They can't do that though when they risk dealing with multiple Yonko in such situations (Shanks and Kaido both tried to interfere in the paramount war) and have the revolutionary army along with a mass of pirates all over the world to deal with at the same time.
@@Haikami Dude you just make shit up lmao. If 2 admirals were enough then why would the navy even summon the warlords? Akainu never took on "all" of WB commanders at once. It's even said several times that WB is the strongest man alive at the time, so why you think Garp or Sengoku alone would be enough is absurd. You also just admitted I was right about Kizaru being stopped by a mere commander. Also you point out the navy didn't lose any major members, but that's mainly to the fact that none of them were part of the vanguard. They literally had thousands upon thousands of marines in front of them and the line up of warlords. They only needed to fight when someone broke through or in some cases if using long range. Also you completely ignored the part where a 2nd Yonko showing up was enough of a deterrent that Sengoku called a ceasefire. The navy is strong, but the idea that they can just take on Yonko and choose not to is wrong for balance is wrong. As to you bringing up Doflamingo and leaving Smoker you just proved my point again. He wouldn't pick a fight with an admiral unless he was completely backed up to a wall (I'm not saying Admirals arent' strong), but when he felt the need to he was willing to attack and fight an admiral. He openly said he planned on killing Fujitora and settling things with him after taking down the Strawhats, whereas the mere mention of Kaido terrified Doflamingo. None of what you're saying makes any sense, because if the admirals were so strong and 2 of them could take on WB forces and Sengoku and Garp were both as strong as WB (despite the show openly saying he's the strongest in the world) then there wouldn't even be a Marineford Arc to begin with. There would be no massive gathering of Marines, no calling the Warlords, no lining up of giants, no need to keep the admirals behind the vanguard, etc. I hate to tell you this but everything about the Marineford arc says you're wrong lol.
@@Haikami The warlords faced off against commanders and some even attacked WB directly (the same as the admirals). Akainu was nowhere near enough to almost solo WB. WB was gravely injured and kicked the shit out of Akainu man. Also the "Yonko system"? I think you don't understand. The Yonko aren't systemized like the warlords are. Warlords are under the world government (or at least in theory they are, but you know how pirates are), the Yonko are pirates so strong the government has lost there ability to stop them. Warlords are a "system" decided by the gov. Yonko are not. You're getting the Warlords and the Yonko mixed up. The Yonko don't keep other pirates under control like the Warlords do and they don't answer to the gov. They're actively amassing power and becoming more and more of a threat to the gov (with the exception of Shanks who seems to be cool with just chilling outside of major conflicts) WB not being able to use Haki correctly? As I recall his Haki was clashing and on par with Shanks who has the highest bounty of the current Yonko after the timeskip, so you're wrong about that too. The Yonko are stronger than the admirals, it's been stated that they are. I'm not sure why you think otherwise. Kaido one-shotted Luffy post-time skip in gear fourth. The admirals couldn't even do that pre-time skip. We also saw Yonko commanders going even with some of the admirals in paramount war and keep in mind WB commanders are on average far weaker than other Yonko commanders. I put the admirals other than Akainu at or slightly above the likes of Calamities or Sweet Generals tbh. Also you contradicted and proved yourself wrong again when talking about the end of the Paramount war.
@@Haikami You went from saying they weren't even trying to saying they needed to back off to minimize their losses to avoid countless life, which is once again, wrong. Colby directly said that to them and remember what the marine response was to him? They were going to kill him. Also you say WB and Ace were dead so they had nothing to gain from further fighting, but WB crew was the largest pirate crew in the world that controlled a vast amount of territory. Killing off the rest of them would definitely be worth it, especially if Akainu alone (like you stupidly said) could take on all of them by himself. How would the marines take on more casualties if a lone admiral or two could take on an entire Yonko fleet like you said? See why you're wrong there too? They only stopped once the threat of a second Yonko was there which they weren't sure they could win against. Once again pointing to the fact that a mere commander stopped Kizaru in his tracks with a threat. The admirals are strong, I'm not denying that. They aren't nearly as strong as you seem to think they are however.

Most pirates are really violent and sucky, like that Pink Beard guy in the recent Revolutionary army episode.
They give no shits and will kill everybody and pillage and burn everything.in their way just cus'
Also,i hate Akainu, like Fujitora and love Borsalino.
Because He kills Ace😢😭
You should do a review on the celestial dragons. Great video btw
As much as I like Pirates I think I'd be a Marine in One Piece world. You get a steady paycheck, promotion seems quick and easy and all the Devil Fruit you could eat!
Wait you could find devil fruit more easier in the marines?
What a perfect time to wake up. Not even sleep can keep me away from the notification squad
I just woke up a few minutes ago and decided to stay up because of the notification
Best One Piece channel on CZcams! No one can even come close.
Yo Grand Line review another bloody perfect video my man
Cheers! :D
Well the video made my day first off but getting a heart from the grand Line review hell that'll make my week
:D
Recently moved house or something? The ps from the buster call peaked my interest
Ps just finished the video and loved how you laughed at the fact that commodore pudding died :)
Pps great vid!
Ppps congrats on 70k subs! (I’m celebrating for you a little bit early because I’m going on holiday)
I sure did~ and thanks in advance! :D
He says "Special Rankings, ooooh." Insta death by laughter
I may be wrong but there might not be a G-4. The number four is thought to be unlucky in all Northeast Asian nations bc it sounds like ‘death’. That is why some buildings gets rid of the fourth floor or mark it as “F” instead just for good measure lol.
The real fleet admiral is Kizaru, he can wipe the floor with anyone in the marines.
Sakazuki (Akainu) is laughing 😂
Ya know, how great would it be if Koby eventually became FLEET ADMIRAL? Knowing Koby, that would be awesome for both the Marines and the world of One Piece over all.
great video! subscribed.
Please make Gura Gura No Mi your next entry into the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia! I have never really understood what is it that breaks when it was used. I half expected Akainu and the head of John Giant to shatter into pieces when Whitebeard punched them and the cracks came into view.
I would think those blue sea fortress islands would be under the command of a commadore. After all a captain only controls 1 ship. Those islands look more like they would hose a squadron which can anything from 10 to 100 ships.
Wasn't the 100,000 captain level and above during the war. So it's definitely bigger than 100,000
Was Coby and Helmeppo Captain level back then?
@@nagarforestinfant They were personal... eh like "squires" of garp (english is not my first language) just like fullbody and that hypno guy were the lowest rank around but still there because they were speciffically resigned to Hina
dude 100000 weer not captain level are u crazy ?? they were all fodders........didnt u see theri dress ? only a handful were captains......99.99% were fodder marines.
That is a good question, now i wish they would explain that
I always thought it was they ate the fruit before becoming admrials and because the fruits are so powerful they rapidly became admrials because of the inherent advantages of a devil fruit.
And they can’t catch a 19 year old rubber man a 3 swordsman a chef, a navigator,a deer ,a normal sniper, a cyborg, an archaeologist, a skeleton
And now a former warlord. 😊
To be honest this crew has a rocket powered ship soooo
*dog racoon & god
It's basically the same reason the shinsemgumi idiots can't catch Katsura or hold him in jail for more than a month.
They can but the series will be over and everyone will complain about. Lol
Im waiting so hard for the revolutionaries to declare war on world gonv and for bege to bask on the chaos with a smile on his face
Thanks for making this I asked u to on the Zou Zou no mi video
BU BU BU BUSTERCALL!
please explain current known Marine secrets!
Would be a great video!
Keep up the great videos big dog
Will do! :D
Once again, love this
This man said sea men three times in a row without chuckling, hats off to you sir.
My fave Vice Admiral are Garp, Smoner and Onigumo ( his spider appereance is so badass)
I don't know if you've done them already, but have you thought about doing OP videos on the different races? Keep up the good work!
Long awaited.❤
the 100K soldiers that went to the paramount war where ELITE soldiers captain and above i believe so im pretty sure theres a LOT more
Marine Corp: Finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary.
This whole video is a Buster Call.
Also, will you do a video about the Mochi Mochi no mi?
i listen to these in the background when i do stuff and so i died when you said seamen
I really wish we could see the Marines doing good. Also with the vast amount of different islands they come from I'm kinda surprised we don't get some Imperial Guard type Marine Regiments, like Marines who come from winter islands that are specialized to fight in conditions like that.
Oh that would be nice sort of like Star Wars where you have Snowtroppers and other variants.
The mariejois national treasure theory:
I think joy boy himself is the treasure kept under watch by imu sama, doflamingo wanted to get the ope ope no mi and do the heart switch between himself and joy boy because he knows that joy boy must be unstoppable to the point that imu sama is keeping him under watch. And doesn't doflamingo want to rule the world, he'll make his old body perform the immortality transplant so he becomes immortal with joy boy's body
"Because he was dick" I lost it lol
Make one of zephyr. To as you did shiki
Marine: Let's make the seas more peaceful.
Also the Marine: *lets a serial killer join them*
Hey GrandLineReviews You Should Do One Piece in Minutes
I love how you said worst generation phase but you made it sound like Drake is going to a weird emo phase XD
Well, yes there is definitely some corruption in the navy to be sure, but from what we seen a good chunk, and heck maybe even a majority of them are good, or at least understandable people. I really like one piece in part because the major, series long antagonistic force are not the bad guys. Yah they serve under the world nobles who largely seem cruel, but throughout the series, most of what we see the marines do is 100% understandable. Guarding places from pirates, protecting civilians, detaining legitimately dangerous people etc.
In Fact Im pretty sure that Oda made the marines as empathetic as possible without making them seem like all one dimensional noble warriors of justice. most footsoldiers are just every day men and woman trying to keep the world safe: think Nami's adopted mother. They face these superhuman pirate threats with nothing but a musket and their will for justice. And the higher ranked ones have to deal with real world problems, and the burden of power, where there is no right answer.
To be honest I find it pretty compelling that people like smoker have to balance their duty to the navy and government with their own morality. Even the current fleet Admiral Sakazuki, while really bull headed and ruthless, seems like a man of principle, and we know for a fact senior members like Garp and the former fleet admiral are also very much concerned with doing the right thing. Its the burden of innacting the law while also being bound it and a flawed system.
I cant think of a single long running shonen antagonizing force that is as interesting and fully fleshed out as the Navy: They are in an infinite struggle between maintaining order while also being forced to be tyrannic.
Do one piece 101 big mom sweet commanders explained or give them their own videos pleaseeee
I have watched all of ur videos
Would be interesting if the World Government is divided into many factions with conflicting ideals involving "Justice".
You should really do a top 5 best filler arc in the one piece world video
I'm surprised you took so long to make this 101 video
There are some very basic characters and groups that have yet to be covered. There's only so much time in a year >_>;
Big question: Why does no one in the One Piece world wear a coat like a coat?
just saw this and you forgot G8 the going Marry dropped in there out of the sky
Darth maul:There is no justice, no law, no order, except for the one that will replace it."
if bounty hunters weren't bigger jokes than fodder marines i think an organization of them in the mafia style the marines originally had would be a cool idea for a movie/ova. :3
Can you talk about the brother and sister of sanji ..... thanks for the videos
I desperately want to see Kong fight
Or see him at least destroy a mountain or something 😂🤷♂️😭
Some are good guys but you know how corrupt the protectors can get
The demoted guy lost his rank to save his friend, who was a pirate, from hanging. How he did it? With a dance of objection of course.
How about a video on what happens when a fish man eats a devil fruit? Supposedly, this is asked a lot and may have an answer to it.
Please do a video on the nine red scabbards
Jesus christ i literally got a mcdonald ad for this video... wow.
Kong is basically the secretary of defense.
Am I juvenile because I laugh every time you say seamen? 🤣🤷
Great video as always.
Yes you are but I was doing the same while recording so...yeah >_>
This should have all been in the prologue of the first chapter
Do the Revo next!
World gov cic sounds like the Minister of Defence role.
One Piece’ Marines are at the top of my favorite three organizations in anime with the Hashira (Demon Slayer) being second and Askeladd Pirates (Vinland Saga) being 3rd.
Do one on Pudding
Hina's position is rear admiral..
Wait, that's illegal..
My favorite marine has to be Smoker. He is the man although not many people think so
is it just me or is the Navy like seriously underpowered? Like how the heck are they supposed to take on the emperors when they can barely beat one?
What about CP 0-9
2:30 hehehe you said Seaman.
Fullbody trade his rank as a lieutenant to save jango’s life
