#42 Big changes! Interior walls are going up in our italian stone house!

- We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls 😊 The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

What a heaven of modern languages: Vince speaks French, you Italian , communicate with each other in Spanish and the subtitles in English. A feast !!!! Good job though . It will get easier when your first references are set . Bonne continuation et a la settimana prossima!!!!
Watching these en-masse, today. When #46 was new. Been trying not to scream, "Buy and impact driver." for several episodes, nothing beats them, but I'm a bit late. Lovely job, so nice to see it coming together so beautifully.
WOW!!! Great progress is being made. You both are very talented & so is your funny dog! Bless you & take care. 👏🙏✌️🌻🐾🐾🇺🇲
Every struggle is a learning experience. Tip. Always secure a frame plate to the wall first and then work away from that for the wall framing, easer to secure the wall frame to the wall plate with screws. The framing build looks very good and strong.. But you are moving along. Bravo.
Tip - put a bolt on before you cut the threaded rod. It will restore the thread after you cut it
ahhh you were faster :-)
Nut not Bolt.
great tip, we will do it for the next anchors!
You have given a new meaning to great professionalism and very hard work.
Thanks for allowing us to follow the construction, much appreciated!
Also staple the moisture sheet to the underside of the frame.
That looks like difficult work. A suggestion. Use a steel threaded wall plug with the same size inner thread. The plugs are mortared using the same method. This way, you can place the frame with existing hole against the wall and simply push the threaded rod through and screw into the wall plug, counter fasten it with a nut.
Hola Madi y Vincent!
Bravo!
I don't think it would have mattered which wall you put up first and having to spend all day to put both walls up, I understand. You are dealing with rock walls that were not plumb and straight to start with. Great job.
Tip - Layout top and bottom wall plates together saving time and avoiding errors!
Love watching you guys. Fantastic progress x 😀
This is looking so good, exciting to see the walls going up. A great job and choice of materials too. See you next week. Another great video also.
Excited advances!
Hello, when you cut threaded rods, you have to grind the edge of your cut all around the screw thread. You take your threaded rod, you start your grinder in your left hand, you apply while rotating with your right hand your threaded rod at 18 degrees (you remove 1 mm all around the edge of the thread of your cup) It's easier to put the nut afterwards.
For your partitions you get bored. You position it, you drill the wood with a wood drill and you change for a concrete drill of the same diameter and you drill through the wood and you inject your product without moving your partition, you put the threaded rod with the washer and the nut. The partition is still in place. You wait for it to harden and you tighten. It's the washer and the nut that do the work.
If it can help you. Regards.
Thank you for showing the obstacles you came up against. It is always easy to under estimate how much time placing stud walls will take. Well done for a brilliant result👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
20:18 I might have just drilled holes in the second stud from the wall and put in the threaded rods when the wall was already in place.
Either way, you managed!! 😂
And it looks MASSIVE especially compared to usual american studwalls. ;)
Hooray, your first walls. Well done. 👏👏👏 💖💖💖
Such hard work. The light, the colors of the stone walls, and the raw wood makes for a very pleasant pallete. Anxious for next weeks posting.❤️
Well…
The best thing for me, looking at THIS video in particular is… how well you both work together… 👍
Greetings from Germany everybody 👋
so satisfying to see the walls go up! it starts to feel more and more like a home :-)
Did you consider putting the wall in the final position, drill the hole through wood and into the stone at the same time, and then glue the rod into the wall, while the wooden frame is still in place? there are also anchor bolts, that you dont need to glue, you just hammer them through the wood into the wall and then just tighten the nut.
Thanks for the video!
yes! but the drill couldn't fit in between the pieces of wood
@@ateliermavi you would only have had to insert the last board after the wall had been fastened
@@d.schreiber873 exactly it would have been way easier! lesson learnt!
You guys are so inspiring!
Your dog is a gem.
You are doing great work with techniques similar to ones used in old stone houses in the North of England but very different to house restoration in Canada and the US. Keep up the good work,
That seems a Great Leap Forward , that certainly makes your home more than just a dream 👏
I love listening to Maddie (?) voice! I speak English and Spanish so the Italian is easier for me to pick up. More please!!
Today's new video is in italian ;)
@@ateliermavi yes, I was so excited. My Italian is getting better at understanding! Lol
Two is better than one! A nice video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Some advise, put the frame in position and the drill the hole through the wood into the bricks or rocks.Much easier that way.
I hope you are as impressed with the results of your efforts as we are! Bravi!
Lubie na to patrzec ,jak zdolni ludzi zmieniaja zniszczone czasem budowle .Podziwiam was .🤔😳👍👍👍👍👍👍💚💚💚💚
That room totally makes sense! Obviously, you've built the studded walls to be removable or available to change if you do consider a different layout or addition down the road.
i like how your dog is suppervising how the walls are going on
Mille Grazie. ❤
Step by step 👌👌 Wonderfull to see every Sunday a new Capter❤

Bellissimo! Bravo)
Looks Great.
I really like your light. Very nice lightning, soft and clear. A good tip is to watch Perkins brothers and essential craftsman.
We do watch perkins brothers 😉
This is amazing its going to be beautiful!
Beautiful. I love your choice of music a lot❤
Va quedando👏👏👏👏👏
Well done!
Looking so good
Wow thats some beautiful whie lumber with no knots
looking very good
It's a great project what you do there - a pleasure to watch every episode! There's one thing I would improve at installing the walls: If you would left a little bit of space (around 3cm) between the wall and the last vertical stut of the wooden frame you can place the frame at the correct position, fix it with clamps (or somebody hold it) and drill larger holes into the frame stud where the fixing points should be. After that you can drill the holes for the threaded rods through the existing holes without removing the wall element, inject the bond and next the rods. During pushing the rod in you have to mount a large washer and a nut on it in the space between the wall and the stud. When the bond is hardend you can mount a second large washer with a nut on the other side. This process allows you a much faster installation, a very easy adjustment of the frames and has less problem/ aggrevation potential.
I hope somebody unterstands my horrible english... 🙈
Your English ain't too bad mate!
Just as i would do this too!
nice work......really coming along........
Walls are looking nice, that lumber is so nice and straight, almost a shame to cover it. When you pound the all thread rod or anchor, put the nut at the end so your rod doesn't mushroom out or deform. I also use the grinder wheel at a 45 degree to take any burrs or you can but a nut on the cut line. The addition of the impact is a must, you will be able to use that all the time for other projects.
Well done. Greetings from germany Christoph 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
I was hoping you wouldn't cover the rock walls. That gives the house character.
..but very poor insulation. We'll keep a big feature stone wall in the middle of the house no worries

Sweet dog!
nice!!
Beau travail 👏
Estáis haciendo un trabajo increíble ❤
Muchas gracias!
Toujours aussi chouette 👍🙂
Great job!
Thanks 🍃
so just a tip... take the top plate and the bottom plate and mark them at the same time by drawing your lines on them then you dont have to re measure...
Immediatamente visibile-principianti!
The wall anchors you placed, is that earthquake protection? I have to say, the carpenter skills are excellent whether Vince has prior experience or this is his first build, not at all evident. Those are some sturdy walls. Good luck with making your home. I enjoy watching.
It is not earthquake protection, just a way to keep the wall in place ☺️ 3 anchors per walls was maybe too much but they are very steady!
Super-super-super
