Completely agree! The fact that it keeps getting worse makes me feel like it's already been transferred to bed sheets etc. It might also be for the best to just plainly throw things out, also might want to get the car's interior professionally cleaned....probably on the seats and other contact areas.

Wash your entire body with dawn dish soap. It cuts any remaining oils. Then cleanse the rashes with alcohol to dry them out. I’m highly allergic to any “poison” plant. This method keeps me from having the rashes last more than a couple days. And of course as previously mentioned, wash all clothing, bedding, wash rags, towels, stuffed animals, furniture that you have touched with the rash as any blisters that may have popped will spread via them and any oils you have remaining on your skin from initial contact will linger on those surfaces.

On top of that, adding a tiny bit to your laundry will help disinfect and break down any stains building up. Even people with allergies to scents use dawn dish soap. It's such an amazing product

Also, not a doctor or giving advice, but i take 2 benadryl every 4-6 hours and i try not to let it wear off. Only clean cloths and towels and don't use the same piece twice. Most important... cool baths and DO NOT TOUCH. The more you touch, scratch, rub, transfer, etc. The worse it will get. If no improvement in 3 days. Go have to the doctor.

I have never gotten a rash from poison ivy, but I have broken out in full body hives before that looked EXACTLY like that. The doctors said it was probably because of pollen, but I had never had any sort of reaction to pollen other than a bit of congestion. I still don’t fully believe it was because of pollen. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, but one thing that REALLY helps is a cold bath. Also DO NOT take hot showers (it makes it spread sooooo much faster and it stays longer). I recommend getting one of those Cortizone 10 sticks. The relief with those doesn’t last for long, but it helps with those spots that just keep itching no matter what. Yes poison ivy can spread everywhere and it's horrible. Whenever I got it as a kid, I remember my mom had to saran wrap my arms while i slept so I wouldn't scratch it and spead it more.
Edit: scratching apparently doesn't make it spread but can cause an infection

@sourgummiez why do you think that? I've had poison ivy and it turned into one giant inflamed rash all over my body. So if you say because it doesn't look like a poison ivy rash, she may be highly allergic like I am and it can do that.

Over 10 years ago I got a poison oak rash. Worst part was that it happened over Christmas. I was covering myself in calamine lotion. My legs were fully covered in the rash and I was scratching myself until I bled because it was so bad. I was literally sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor of my room during the whole duration of the rash. I also learned that your reaction to poison oak gets worse each time you get it so I'm terrified of getting it again. And it's airborn too!

Ok. I got poison ivy every single summer as a kid. The stuff grew all over our cottage. My dermatologist recommended washing with dawn dish soap. Its oils that come out of the rash that cause it to spread. So wash the oil off with dawn before applying anything. Also if you touch the rash, wash hands with dawn after or everywhere you touch it, it will spread on yourself. Use scent free dawn

I used to be severely allergic to poison ivy as a kid and luckily it’s not as bad now. It would spread everywhere, including my face, and one time it got so bad my eyes swelled almost shut. Whatever you do, DONT ITCH. If you need to, put ice on it or gently hold pressure on it. Itching will only lead to more itching.

I've had a similar thing on my armpits ): The dermatologists in the hospital got my diagnostic wrong and made me use a cream that actually made it SO WORSE. Then a doctor guessed it was varicella. But then they thought it might be a fungus or mites from my baby kitten (found him in the yard). To this point.... it comes and goes and yet I haven't figured out WHAT it is.

I have a condition that causes iritations and rashes like that. Every year it gets better but there are also very very bad times. I know it is not the same thing but what actually helped me was bathing in milk or cooked flower or a body wash with an oily consistency and are ment for kids. Products for kids often are better because they are ment for more fragile skin
