- The Retirement Travelers share their world travel plans as they prepare to travel to some great places in 2024. We discuss our retirement travel highlights of last year's travel to Asia, Europe, and cruises. Our big plans this year include India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, a cruise from Cape Town to Lisbon, Spain, Azores and a trip back to Southeast Asia.
We also discuss our plans for changes to our CZcams channel and website, where we are creating a new resource called Travel School. Here we will organize all of our Travel How-To content that has been generated from viewer questions over the past several years.

▶️ We started our channel to inspire and share our world travel lifestyle, adventures, and optimistic outlook on life with others. After completing a two-year journey in our Airstream to see all 50 states and 51 National Parks, we left to travel abroad. We have downsized our possessions and sold our home so that we can wander about with only the things in our backpacks.
We love living on the road, traveling each week to a new location. We plan to travel extensively to every part of the world. Ours is not a slow travel lifestyle but rather a vagabondish one. The goal is not to check a country off a list, but to experience it by meeting new people, seeing how others live, and making new friends. We believe in laughing, loving, and living our lives to the fullest.
We are working hard to build a beautiful website where you can get travel information about the places we have been. In addition, we post blog articles to help you travel better. Our channel is a way of augmenting that effort, so sometimes we post videos about how to travel or a vlog showing our lives on the road as we do an activity or an adventure. We also post Shorts, so check those out, too. We hope to entertain you, but most importantly, we want to inspire you and give you the confidence to plan your own adventure around the world.

Found your CZcams channel a couple of weeks ago and love your content. I retired a couple of years ago and am in my late 60's and I travel with friends. Almost every month in 2024 and 2025, I am either cruising, doing land tours, safari, expeditions and camping. It's all very overwhelming but I feel that I need to see and do as much as I can while my health is good. I am learning to travel with just a carry on which has not been easy in colder climates. Your videos provide a wealth of info that I hope to incorporate into my own travels. I wish you the very best as you travel the globe in 2024.

We're all caught up! I started from video #1 and my husband joined in at the pie-frys (video#7?). It's been so delightful "traveling" with you. We're not watching Travel School because we're couch-bound, so to speak. I live with my almost completely disabled 87-yr-old Mom (Advanced Parkinson's and severe dementia) as her sole caregiver. My husband spends every other week with us. When he's here, we traveled together with you. It was quite a ritual. Looking forward to when you're traveling again.
So sorry to hear about your mom. We are sure it has been difficult to see the impacts on her. We are happy to hear that our videos have brought you enjoyment.

Are shorts on You tube difficult? I don’t go to Instagram much and not sure what reels is. I guess I’ll have to learn.

It's great to see that you plan to do parts of Africa in 2024, very few full time travellers seen to do there.
If you are in South Africa we recommend - Cape Town and the Winelands, then along the south coast. A highlight for us was that Addo Elephant reserve.

Anxious to check out the Travel School! I've had friends on your transatlantic cruise and different friends on your Christmas/New Years cruise. They were too shy to introduce themselves, but they knew I followed you on CZcams and Instagram. I guess it's our turn to find you on an upcoming trip. In that regard, I have an idea for you. Several content creators are using TrovaTrip to host small groups on land tours. I think you'd be a hit with this concept. My husband and I are trying this out this summer in Ireland. Well, here's to a fun-filled 2024!
Sorry we missed them. We are actually VERY approachable and have met people all over the world for lunches, dinners, and stays. Hope our paths cross someday. We have been approached by TrovaTrip but haven't lined up schedules yet, but it is a cool idea. Enjoy your Ireland trip.

We travel internationally yearly (also retired) and we've been to everywhere except Asia. In no way does Asia interest us in the least. I wished someone could/would change my mind it seems that everyone who does go, just loves it.
Thanks for following along with us. We hope we can change your mind on Asia. We did several videos last year that you can check out on our channel if you like. It is definitely a different mindset than Europe, but the costs are so much lower, interesting cultures and people, along with incredible scenery. We don't necessarily want to move there, but we do enjoy visiting.

I went to Bali and a small island chain in Indonesia in 2022 and this year I went to Singapore and Seoul, South Korea. Loved every one of these visits and hope to visit Asia every year. I would recommend you start in Singapore. Just about everybody speaks English well, lots of western food available, the city is safe and clean. You will get a good snapshot of travel to those countries, although obviously each Asian country has its own individuality. The only other advice is if you cannot stand humidity and heat, you might want to investigate that factor very closely. Even if it turns out Asia is not for you, you will still come away with some unique experiences and stories to share.

I really enjoy your website and videos, I've shared them with many friends, and when first finding you admit to having a binge weekend watching you two. Thank you for all your sharing, the content you put out is so well done. I'll miss your longer travel video's but totally appreciate the time you put into what you are doing, I will watch the shorts and enjoy them.
Travel School sounds great, and like others we would like to know any tips and tricks you have on flight planning, and if you use any types of travel credit cards...looking at all your 2024 plans I would imagine you will be earning a "few" travel points.
We did a major downsized 3 years ago to lower our living costs, it allowed us to retire earlier and be able to travel more. I've watched your video on how you sold everything, I'm just not there yet, but we might consider renting out our condo, really admire your leap. Thanks for so many ideas, places to go (loved your Indonesia snorkeling video) and your honesty. Oh and I look forward to hearing how you like your new travel bags...I want to purchase a set for our next travels.

My main problem with doing this is establishing a base. I don't own, so wouldn't have a home to come back to. I would have to maintain a rental butvwondering how cost effective that would be and if you have any other options.
It was not cost effective for us to rent and we like the simplicity of not owning anything. When we are in the US, we are also traveling between our children's homes and visiting our moms. Some other options include housesitting, monthly rentals, staying with family, etc.

I've been following along on your channel for a while but this is my first time commenting. I think the Travel School sounds like a great idea! I have personally been lucky enough as a Scot living in Denmark and travelling quite a lot with work, to have amassed quite a bit of "unusual" travel experience over the years, but not everyone has that opportunity, so I think an initiative like yours could really help give people the confidence to launch themselves into travelling independently. Good luck with the first "episodes"!

We finished it off with a trip to Kruger National Park and six year later I still go back and look at my videos from our visit to the park. It was truly amazing.

What app / process do you use to illustrate your travels? It is nice to see going from one place to another, like a slide show, but tons better. I would like to document our 2023 travels in a similar manner. I pulled up Google Earth and only found ways to save points and paths. While an interesting overall picture, it does not flow from one spot to the next.

We edit our videos with Final Cut Pro X. Our favorite map creator is After Effects. Both are tough to learn, but worth the effort! John & Bev

I love how you had your whole family on a cruise during the holidays. A great example to follow on my bucket list with my 5 children, their spouses and grandchildren.

I am ready to go back to school with your travel school. A brilliant idea. I really want to learn all about the logistics of planning out a long-term travel agenda. I love the repositioning cruise idea to get you to those faraway places and then the more affordable internal flights that get you from point A to B. I also love how you will do a cruise for areas like West Africa so you can maintain that level of comfort. My eyes and ears are wide open for all your wonderful expertise. I am learning from the best! Enjoy India. It will be a total and wonderful sensory overload.

Thank you for this great update! I look forward to checking out your travel school offerings. Here’s a question (you may have already addressed): Do you ever think of your carbon footprint with your travels? Especially by air? That is what keeps me grounded these days.
We are aware and try to limit our trips to and from the US twice a year. We feel we offset some of the airfare by not owning a car, home and few possessions. We usually take public transportation when available. Thanks for your concern.

@@RetirementTravelers We have 11 queen rooms (1 of these is first floor w/ handicap accessible bthrm), 1 king room w/ a twin sleeper chair, and 1 2-room king suite with a queen sleeper sofa in the sitting room. Can sleep up to 29 if there's a head on each pillow! Plus different common areas inside or outside to gather or hang out, of course. If it were only your family, it would be like your own 12,000 sq ft home with a spa downstairs ;-)

Travel school is a great idea. My husband and I retired on October 31rst. We will be taking a repositioning cruise to Spain this spring and spend three months there before heading to England. Your videos have been super helpful. Did you know that ETIAS has been paused?

Wow - amazing! We just finished a month in India and it's a lot and definitely not for the faint of heart. We never felt unsafe and always felt so welcomed and treated like royalty. However, by the time we left we were absolutely exhausted ... it's a total sensory overload on all levels. Looking forward to hearing what you think. Enjoy and safe travels.

exciting plans for 24, hope you have a terrific time!! Question about your National Parks trips - I am planning something similar (without an Airstream though) but wondering how much in advance did you book campgrounds? And did you have a fixed route planned or was some of it spontaneously decided?
We usually booked campgrounds well in advance and didn't have any trouble. We made 2 6-month laps. The first year we did all the interior parks like Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. The second year we made a large perimeter lap around the country. This worked well for us.

Travel School looks great, what about a tutorial about prescription medication.My wife has a number of medication requirements and we are unsure about how to gain and fill scripts once the Australian ones have run out.We start our travelling in about ten months, slow packing from home through Asia, India, parts of the middle East and beyond. Excited doesn't ever get close. Thanks for the fantastic content and assistance
Thanks for following along with us. We have plans for a video on this topic. We have been able to find enough countries to stock up on our medication with NO PRESCRIPTION required. We have had great success in Colombia, Panama and Philippines. We plan to try in India during this trip as well.
