    • @andyboerger
      @andyboerger Před 3 lety +10

exactly! In one way or another, we are ALWAYS succeeding! Maybe failing too. Cells are being born (succeeding) other cells are dying ( 'failing') every second. I am succeeding now by writing these words out correctly, but 'failing' to fully express the intent behind the words.
Success/failure is part of the continual flow of human existence.

@@jennbisnar9409 Thank you. It really is a truth that needs to be better understood for the abuse it represents. There can be no 'failure' in learning. Who actually benefits from this 'system' and why (certainly not the innocent child). Aristotle first said 'Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man'. The Jesuits adopted this but it really is not for others to do this to a child. That is shameful, shame based and self recriminatory. Indoctrination. Brain-washing even.
Humanity needs to wake up from this deliberate abuse of our individual sovereignty and better support our individuality. A better, more enlightened model is long, long overdue. 🙏🌻
Ps. Google Elon Musk about 'education'.
As Malcolm Gladwell says, amongst many other enlightened things, "If everybody has to think outside the 'box' then maybe it is the box that needs to be examined".

I certainly failed at a test at school which meant a lot to me that time. So as if my ego knew that it had no chance to survive , I grabbed The Power of Now and started reading.
The funny part is that my suffering was that intense that I couldn’t read properly because I was crying so much !
Then I put it back and it stayed there for over a year. After that I found it again and had not much to do so I kept being drawn to it.
And after half a year it finally resonated and I experienced a major breakthrough!
I am very delighted and very grateful for this beautiful experience! Failure is love !

I love bicycles. I've been building, repairing, and riding them for almost twenty years. I have only once tried to turn my love for bicycles into my "job." I failed tremendously. I lost money on the endeavor and ultimately had to close the business, but I learned that the value of having that creative passion, and the ability to pursue it, is far greater than any sum of money. I often reflect back on that experiment, the lesson is applicable to many life situations. Failure is an excellent teacher.

Love your story friend. What you did took kahuna's. My 1st attempt was a used furniture store in Gainesville Florida, it lasted 1 year, learned what not to do for sure, but had so much fun doing it. Right next to me was a used bicycle shop called Recycled bicycles. When I went back to that town nearly 30 years later to show my only child where he was born, the store was still there. Maybe a different name possibly, but the folks running the place knew the old owner which I had been friends with. Was a thrill to see it was still there. One of us made it, the other didn't. Now my biz of over 20 yrs is slowing with the current world situation, it was my 3rd attempt, 3rd time was a charm. Stay strong friend.

I tried to comprehend this because of how terribly it affected me. Has it helped? No, I cannot say it has, the best part of my life now being behind me, but at least I now know why I have had this feeling and can see how utterly destructive it has been. I feel that 'fear', unease, angst, is part of us, we are made that way. There is no point trying to find out 'why' we feel fear. The feeling sticks to things, creates stories with grievances, none of them leading to release. It is better to simply transcend that fearfulness by tuning in to a greater awareness, which is uplifting and benign. Then the fear is still there but loses its power and the imagined forms. It is like a small fish. Nothing more.

@@elinannestad5320 We do not come into this world fearful. We do have a response system to try and support our survival however. It is primitive, primal, and located in our 'lizard brain', the amygdala. It triggers autonomic responses such as fight, flight, freeze, fawn and flop (this last one is my addition). When any of these are over-activated such as by trauma, we feel the effects even when there is no threat (c/PTSD). Turning this response off again can therefore be extremely difficult, but our natural state is and should be relaxed and in the now. Mindful presence, not terrified by the past, nor anxious about the future. Just here, now. As you say, 'Nothing more'. 🙏

This doesn't address the many (most...) things that are not enjoyable in the beginning, but by working, persevering, and fighting through, it becomes enjoyable.
For example, I didn't love working out when I started. It hurt. But by sticking with it, pushing through when I didn't want to, it ultimately became what is now, one of my favorite hours of the day.

Thank you, Eckhart! I appreciate the sharing of your presence in its infinite wisdom. I absolutely adore the teaching of not being attached to the final outcome in “your doing.” It does take the pressure off of succeeding or failing, teaches you a lesson on your journey, and makes the most sense than anything else I’ve ever heard pertaining to this subject. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Had a real problem with that and still do. I’m 55!!! Needless to say, I’ve gone through too many career paths, educational programs, and jobs to count. I’ve never followed through on one single thing or finished it in my life! My life always hinged on the outcome of whatever endeavor I was engaged in and I always failed. Whether it was self-sabotage and I quit, or I over thought things to the point that I couldn’t comprehend what I was supposed to be learning and I failed out - it always ended up being my worst nightmare come true. So you see why I believe your way is definitely the only way. 🙏

In his question I felt he was asking more about how to get over his freezing in the face of moving on and less about the reality of failure. He is stuck, like in cement and needed to know how to overcome this psychology state.

It seems to me that once you've stopped identifying with your ego, there should be no barriers such as a fear of failure. There are a million ways to intellectualize why a fear of failure makes no sense, but disidentification with the ego brings that result necessarily.

Excellent question & replied with excellent answer & example.
Most of the time it's kinda hard to enjoy the process when nowadays people/business focus more on results then process in order to survive the growing & more fierce competition.
The "never failure because never try" kinda hit me tho.

When we start doing something new,we are present only in the doing and then we give our best self only in the action!!Ego distracts our attention to "doing" and leads us wherever the Ego wants!!if we give our best self on everything, failure does not exist!!!
