Thanks for the knowledge for cleaning and oiling revolvers.
Best oil to use is Motor oil. I use Pennzoil synthetic 10w30. My Taurus 856 is as smooth as glass.
I use valvoline full synthetic wheel bearing grease myself. Cheaper than dirt and you have a lifetime supply right there.
You can most certainly use motor oil to lubricate your firearms, but it doesn’t do much for protecting the gun from rust. Motor oil doesn’t have rust inhibitors in it like a bottle of Hoppe’s gun oil does.
@@charlesh1735 Used it for years as a lot of other people have. Never have I heard of anyone speak of rust after using Motor Oil.
Have you ever torn apart a motor that's been sitting for years? You sure won't find rust under the motor oil.
I admire your knowledge of revolvers, and proper lubrication of such. My wheel-gun, a nine-shot .22 LR, can be disassembled with regard to the cylinder by counter-clock of the ejector rod. No need to access the action cover. I use regular Rem oil, sprayed on a cotton swab and let capillary action do its thing. As for the finish, I prefer Nu Finish, a polymer.
They don’t need much oil, check out a video from “gunblue” this old timer was an armorer from Smith & wesson. I think we all tend to over oil , I am trying to back off, they just don’t need much.
Perfect video. Thanks
S&W owners the Crane is what Colt calls it; S&W calls it a Yoke and Yoke Retention Screw.
Thank you
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
Do you ever turn the gun over to oil around where the trigger is located or where the thumb piece is?
And never oil the trigger stop and where the hand is correct?
You're so liberal with oiling that revolver, you should just screw a zerk fitting into the side plate and pump away. No need for so much oil. Just a light, thin coat on critical parts.
