    Your video saved my bacon! 😂 I just got my first-ever VMC a couple of weeks ago. I got it under air and power last weekend. I turned it on today to find a sea of red alarms. 🤢I had dead battery alarms, and home reference alarms, and who knows what else. Thankfully the seller gave me an extra replacement battery, and your video helped me solve the alarms and the home references. There was one additional scare though. I got a DS0309 Alarm: Z Axis Reference Return Impossible. Google to the rescue. I learned that I had to manually rotate the spindle at least one full rotation and then restart the control to clear that alarm. All is well now. Thank you!

      @carmenpetro1781 that is a very interesting problem. off the top of my head I'm not fully sure why that should be happening. It almost seems like the button for positive and negative for the X directions are wired wrong if they are two separate buttons. That is definitely something that will have to be addressed by looking into the ladder of the machine. The PMC ladder I believe. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience on ladders however knowing that it is possibly a ladder problem you may be able to look it up from there

    • @aaronrunk4209
      @aaronrunk4209  Před rokem

      Well I'm sure that's is frustrating. On our lathe we have a known location from the chuck face to the original home location. If we run into this we put the machine back to this position and then reset the home position. You may try setting the home position further away from its original position (by a few inches close to the spindle) and then see if it does it again. It may be too far past the hard stop. You may have to reach out to the machine dealer for trouble shooting. Good luck and thank you for watching

    • @aaronrunk4209
      @aaronrunk4209  Před 2 měsíci +1

      So I had this happen on my Doosan 220 lathe. However, it did reset the home locations correctly, and when I sent the machine home, it did everything correctly as well. I wasn't sure why it was doing this, but it did home correctly. some machines may have something in the ladder that reverts back to zero. I would check to see if it does go home to the correct locations and if it's just making it a zero instead of keeping it a one I would try running a simple program and then having it go to g28 home and g53 home and make sure that it goes to the right location both times. If your tail stock uses parameter 1815 for positioning. Your process for setting the zero should be very similar on the lathe and mill. however, if your tail stock has a parameter that won't allow you move it. you'll have to either turn off the limit switch or adjust the safety zone. Tail stocks are very different between machines so just be sure not to knock it off the ways when adjusting

    • @aaronrunk4209
      @aaronrunk4209  Před rokem +1

      Yes it does seem a bit unusual. It's interesting to me because I've had a lot of technicians disagree with this method for not being within microns of the tools manufacturers specs but this is just a simple 3 axis machine and doesn't need kenimatics adjusting to be functional. If the machine had lots of jobs and fixtures that used G10s then setting this back to the tools manufacturers specs or a known Z axis locations would be both time and cost effective. But for this machine being an educational model and not being used for production. Im able to just eye ball in the location for the tool changer home location and there's nothing to it. Thank you for watching.

      I have not create a video for this. However, the same settings page is used and in the same manner. If you machine was at home when you replaced your batteries I would move away from the home position one full rotation of the motor away from home position and then return to that position before switching the values from 0 and back to 1. If you have a reference location for the Lathe then you can move away from home and then move back to that reference point. We have a Doosan 220 and it too has the red arrows for reference positioning and I was able to do the same thing. Good luck and I hope this helps.

If so, you need to go into the Custom page or Tool recovery page and put it back to its home position. Some machines will have a tool recovery button that you can simply push. you'll have to turn off 1815 by changing X from a 1 to a 0, then set your new home location before turning it off. You're basically turning off the previous zero and setting a new one. Once you have the new location. set the parameter back to 1, then turn off the machine. Sometimes, it's easier on a lathe since it doesn't require a tool changer.
