In this tutorial, I go over a question asked on Reddit about the Tech-House Sub-Bass. I go over some concerns on why a Sine Wave is bad to use if you are utilizing low keys, and what you can do to get a sub that still hits hard in those low frequencies. We also do 2 recreations of basslines. One for Latmun's Everybody's Dancin and Mark Knights The General.

This is definetely THE tutorial. A lot of producers have found these tricks after trial and errors. New producers are LUCKY!!!
when i hopefully reach any sort of success in music, 100% my first thanks goes to zen
One of your best videos man, so many great little tips throughout
I don't make tech house but these tutorials have helped me out immensely. It's kinda the same reason I grab packs of yours that don't perfectly fit with my style. I can always learn from them and even utilize them in different ways.
Zen my man, killer content as always. Thank you needed this! Love to see tutorials on how to get started on making your own up & downlifters and how to make your own vocals sound like the ones in the deceiver pack.
Great vid. best tutorial I've seen that suits my learning in a long time!
My chain

would love to see a vid on how to make songs like michael bibi

Michael Bublé?

this video answered so many of my questions, thanks!
awesome video as always! thanks zenworld!
Probably one of the best tutorial I have watched this year :O and I don't even produce Tech House but this video is brilliant
Great tutorial, definitely shined some light on using notes with "Always" unchecked, instead of pitch bending in the midi. Also, for anyone wondering, use these techniques and the Tech House Kick tutorial he recently did to really make that sub POP!
This is absolutely huge. Small advices that make a huge difference, you deserve an award for your tutorials!
Two more bassline tutorials I would love to see: "Sidney Charles - Power of the Underground" or "Solardo - Tribesmen"
deffo a tutorial on solardo tribesmen
Im sure Solardo have actually done a tutorial themselves or at least half of solardo has on tribesman. Not the best tutorial as the guy (think its mark) doesn't come across that well but defiantly gives you an insight in to how that track was made from the lads that produced it.
@@reeceprice2882 I don't think the breakdown of that track teaches how you can actually program the bassline. Their tutorial focuses on other aspects, not on the synth configuration itself. Fact is that the tribesman bassline is absolutely massive and it would be really interesting to see a tutorial from our man about this.
@@reeceprice2882 yeah i have watched that video a lot because that is the style of house i like to produce. the kinda tribal/ really precussive kinda stuff. I just cant figure out how to make that bass.
@@fourd3523 What are some other bangin tracks you would suggest that are of this genre?
Everytime I can't make my bass sound right, I go back to this video. It works 100%
Love your videos bro
Like always.... the perfect answer to my question! You rule Samuel!!!
Please more of THIS!!!!!!
Great tutorial 👍
Dig your vids man, I appreciate the tips & advice
Perfect tutorial! Thank you
You're the man Zen, thanks!
Amazing tutorial. Cheers man
great tutorial as usual!
Whenever i'm looking to figure shit out it I always end up at Zen World vid.
You the man bruh
Bro thank you so much this helps an absolute ton
One thing I'd recommend is mapping the Note tracking (above the mono and legato buttons, next to VEL) to turn down the oscillator volumes the higher you play. This way you avoid the higher notes sounding too boomy (our ears perceive the higher frequencies as being louder when Serum plays them evenly). I usually edit the graph until it sounds right.
Great tips! I've never tried the square before!
Bro.......you are the man!
Great advice. AND HANDSOME TOO.
Super cool tut!! One question: so you have some modulation (Env/Lfo) on the coarse pitch ?
Thanks for sharing great tips !!
Any chance you could do a video on how to build melodies around vocals or how to better fit vocals on a pre-existing track?
Awsome vid
Very nice!! :)
Can you do a tutorial with some standard baseline midi pattern and operator?
english is my third languages but your spelling is so fine, it is like my brother talking to me and i understand you great ! Big thumbs for your good explantations!
Hey zen could you make a tutorial on how to get that cymbal sounding atmosphere used in shiba San rock the house in the intro
Good vid homie. .
Super super useful video
your a brilliant tutor Zen, im in tutorial heaven...😉
Yo Zen! Been a fan for a long time and your videos have always helped me. I have a breakdown idea for you that would be awesome to see. Check out Dirty South - Plectar! I had this on non-stop along with most of his other new music. Good luck and thank you for helping me so much with my music production!
could you make a video on how to make those long bass style notes like camelphat - i'm not alone and davi lisboa - my best shoot? would be dooooope!
thank you zen!
Dope tutorial (y)
great video man
Great vid!
Hi I would be happy to see a toturial on how to make the detuned sound in Dj snakes Enzo, I m not sure if it is the sound design or just the right chords :)
and another one I don't know how to make a sound design like this is from the Song Our own Way from Barely alive at minute 1:29 the high one and the Bass...
I bought the Deceiver Pack there are some good presets inside thanks, you are really good at sound design
Just FYI guys; Portamento is what glides the notes and the time selector 'Port Time knob' under 'always' is what determines the note drive. The notes do not need to overlap. Selecting 'Mono' disables Poly mode, AKA disables the polyphony count, the number of keys that can register at once, next to MONO is the Poly amount that can be edited allowing you to save memory if you only need X amount of key strikes. And Legato stops the re-triggering of set envelopes, again, not Portamento, completely different.
This guy is the expert, I wouldn't question him, and I could be wrong about ALL of this and read the entire manual backwards. But I don't often use Poly mode on a Sub-bass when I am triggering one note at a time. That's just me.
if you add a little distortion to a wave it pops out more and it brings it near/forward in the mix
Amazing!
both song you are using as example, I feel the percus have like a reverb effect or how the get that feeling ? like is played in a room
Sharam Jey - Right Back bass tutorial pleaseeeeee!
your a Beast! cheers bro!
so helpful blessss
thanks 😀
Chella helpful video m8
Class this mate, reckon you could do one for George Smeddles, his basslines always sound tight and huge. For example his song Groove is In, not sure if it’s the same technique for this tutorial.
+1000
@@KydomusicAbsolutely, his perc grooves are wicked can't go wrong with his tracks
also vocal processing
Thanks. This type of thing...
Zen please i'm struggling with my volume levels on kick and base i don't know what is the standard before mixing and after mixing can you please clarify ? thank you
Fuck yeah! awesome tutorial thanks man
please make a tutorial how to recreate a subbase like this using spectrum and serum😁 I mean from the beginning....✌
chers bro helpful stuff
Could you try to recreate Mihai Popoviciu: Time bassline?
Now is it necessary to add a top bass layer to thag? I’ve got a nice rolling bass laid down on a track but can not seem to find something that overlays the sub bass to make the track grittier. Please help!
Loving these tech house tutorials Zen. Could you do a tutorial on getting the kick and sub to sound really tight and balanced and choosing the right type of kick? Thanks
use tuner to see which key your kick is in and then do the sub in the same key :)
Can you show how to make a festival flip like Cheyenne Giles?
Seriously what is best. Serum or massive. I find massive really hard to learn properly, especially when I'm new to sound design. Also I think there's way more tutorials out there who creates nice sound with serum than there is with massive. What would you guys recommend for a beginner?
Man I am very surprised by how close you got the tracks to match holy.
Okay but how did he get the actual SERUM sub bass sound to begin with? it starts with it already pre configured??
Zen as always AWESOME! Thank you for those tips once again. Just for inspiration: please checkout Township Rebellion, for me they are game changing! Especially the last two EPs are insane! When you feel like it, i would love to see a tutorial how to achieve this style of techno (basslines, leads, arragement, ambience). See you in the next livestream, keep it up!
Haha gotta love Township. They been killing it since 2016 I'm so mad they dont blow up like crazy but maybe its good cause their style is unique as fuck. "After Berlin" and "Lumen" got me into producing Techno
I really don't understand if my FL is broken, but I am copying the exact same preset into serum and mine sound absolutely nothing like these baselines, there's barely any sub you can hear and its so gritty and poor...
Where do you get the Sine this way preset?
R-AND? Is there a reason you don't say "random"? I always assumed that's what it means.
I still don't get why I should choose a sine wave over a square wave. Let's say I am in Sine heaven, is a sine wave in that case better than a square wave? Or does it not matter.
Cheers from El Paso Raza 😎
Hardstyle always has the answer, 1 sine , 1 Waveshaper doing asymetric dist and then an eq with a lowcut to phase the wave to the centre again so It become symetrical again and you get those juicy harmonics 🙇
where can i find these presets?
2023 still hot…and that Sub 37 over there looking sexy too 🖤😎🙌
151000 congratulations
So Fucking Good
I love you
😭😭the video cuts and jumps forward when you explain about the latmun bass
👍
DETLEF FT GREEN VELVET BASSICK EP, SAM!
maybe if you put the Serum compressor and distortion FX wet you would actually hear what they are doing.......
Bro Holy Goof tutorial... please !!!!
Oh man
Hi -ZEn :3
Belting tutorial #inspired
3:57 that's the key
10:14 hahaha
I guess F# is sub Purgatory lol
It's a lot easier to subtract (filter) a more complex sound than to try and doctor a pure sine wave into something else.
