  • Today I will be doing my first unboxing that I have posted to youtube, with my Mannlicher M1888/90 that I recently purchased from Royal Tiger Imports. This video is to give you an idea of some of the things you may run into with these Ethiopian import guns from RTI. That being said I have purchased several other firearms out of the Ethiopian lot and have come out well, this just happens to be the roughest firearm I have purchased from them to date. This was just a simple one off video I slapped together on the fly, more deliberate and researched videos are currently on the way.

    Casto's curios is making ammunition for 8x50mmR but pretty expensive: $60 per box of 20. Fortunately, PPU may jump into making those as well.

      I wasn't sure if they did at the time of filming this so I think I vaguely alluded to it.

    Solid sub from me, one gun channel to another. I got my hands on two C grades from them, planning on launching my videos on them.
    Busted stocks and not functional, but it didnt take me long to get them functional once more. I own a milling and lathe machines haha

    Yep that one looks about what I got from them. Only saving grace is my barrel has string rifling and all the parts except sight slider , but wows, it was nasty out of the box - I’m guessing your M95 didn’t come from RTI based on the condition

    • @milsurpminutes5809
      @milsurpminutes5809  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah I got the M95 from elsewhere it's actually an 8x56R long rifle which is somewhat uncommon, I think I may get one from RTI so I can have an 8X50 example though

    That's not a bad looking B grade. The one that I got had a bent barrel. Which I was able to straightened (sort of...)

      Sounds like they made a big pile of them and ours were at the bottom

    You dont have an 88/90 yours is an 86/90. You can tell because the curve where your barrel meets the receiver is a lot longer than the 88/90 or the 90. Mine actually came with the stock to an 86/90 but an 88/90 action

      Interesting I'll look into that more this, this video wasn't really researched so it was fairly off the cuff but that is very interesting if that is the case. Thank you for sharing

    Do weapons from rti require background check? Or considered curios and relics? No issue here passing background check just curious

    • @milsurpminutes5809
      @milsurpminutes5809  Před 7 měsíci +1

      So the deal is in the US firearms manufactured prior to 1898 are legally considered antiques therefore do not require a 4473, background check or transfer. The Mannlicher 1888 went out of production in 1892 or 1893 if I'm nor mistaken so all are exempt. Now RTI does mention on their website that they do require you to send a copy of your driver's license for antique firearms. That all being said in the video I believe I alluded to the fact that FEDEX handled this as they would any modern firearm. They not only required signature verification, but they also required that it be signed for at the delivery address which made getting this difficult. Normally I have FEDEX hold it at their regional facility and I would sign for it there, unfortunately this is no longer an option for them.

    It seems to me that rti is running out of stock on their mannlichers 3 years ago these seem to be in "better" condition that what they are now. They are really scraping at the bottom of the barrel here

    • @milsurpminutes5809
      @milsurpminutes5809  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Possibly, I figured when they run out of one grade they bump the price down

      @@milsurpminutes5809 yeah it makes sense that they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel. I got my m95 back 3 years ago bore sewer pipe and extractor was broken.

    yeah id stay away from their ethiopian stash stuff, the italian stuff theyve been getting recently from italy has been good, plus with something so old id expect it to have a train ran over it

    (Most) Guns that come from RTI is a crap-shoot at best.
