Hello there ! Just caught the show !
Like to say this method is great but I use
a different approach I can fold my paper the same
way as you but to make sure my paper is straight along
the lines I would take a ruler and lay it down upon the folded
Lines and using a knife or paper cutter I just take the knife and cut
straight down for a nice straight cut .

Can I just tear the paper with ruler instead of cutting? I’m TERRIBLE at using scissors

Any paper works for 3D origami, most tutorials call for a4 but I just get regular printer paper size

Question ! What ever the project your working on
does it really matter what color your paper is ?
Now with me , I've have on hand regular colored
printer paper which is very easy to cut even with scissors
Paper on hand is slightly thin in thickness so it is easy to cut even
    with scissors .

what kind of paper should i use

I recommend using 8.5x11 printer paper. I go into more detail about how to fold different thicknesses of paper in my “How to Fold 3D Origami Pieces” video czcams.com/video/gN-kTbgboqE/video.html
I would not recommend using construction paper because it is very stiff and can be hard to work with, but it is totally possible to still use construction paper! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

      Hello and Hi there !
Great video . I dropped in and caught the show .
To say your video shows easier ways to fold printer paper
which I have on hand and as stated earlier my paper is slightly
thin in thickness so it is easy to cut using scissors . Anymore shows
coming up in near future .
