Must've been a hell of a supply drop to find the energy to run in those final 9! 😄 I agree, that's an eastern newt. happy trails!

I definitely ate everything that she had brought to us.🤣 it definitely came back to bite me though. That part didn’t make the video 😩

This was super fun to watch! I’m section hiking the FHT and I’m about halfway done. I love this trail! The little orange guy is a red eft newt. Y’all really did put the suffer into this trip….my feet are dying after just 8-10 miles on trail. 😂 Great job, even if it didn’t go exactly as planned!

Thank you so much Katie. I’m so glad you enjoyed watching it. I I agree with you this trail is awesome and thanks for letting me know what that little orange guy was ☺️. Maybe we’ll see you on the FHT trail one day

Your watch read 45 miles when you had covered 38.1 actual trail miles (at the halfway mark). Interesting. Your total mileage was 76.2, not 100. Trust the mileage signs, not a gps watch.
Regardless, huge effort on a challenging trail. Today I just finished my 21st time to hike the whole trail end to end, both thru and section hikes. Judging from a couple of visual clues, I can tell this was done a few months ago. (Mileage change on one sign & trail condition just below Pinnacle junction). Good job. Not my style, but good job. The fastest I’ve done the 76 miles is 3 days. This week it was 5 days.

Thanks so much for watching. It definitely is a trail that takes quite a bit of effort. We added a bunch of spur trails on in the first day which gave us extra mileage because we had planned to reach the hundred mile mark by the time we ended. It didn’t go as planned. We did this back in March and unfortunately it’s taking me a while to edit it. In 2022 we’re planning to go for a two day supported attempt at this trail.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. We’re planning to do it again but to try it even faster to finish within 30 hours total.

Kudos to you guys! Def an accomplishment! Do you guys use Strava or have a Strava Club? I would love to see the maps and data...If you need a new challenge you should try doing Gritchell (Grandfather Mountain to Mount Mitchell) 100 miles...my nephew did it last year and I accompanied him for the last 20 miles...Coros watches are on point! I have the Apex myself and will never go back to any other brand...look forward to more vids!!!

Which trails did you do to get the extra mileage and elevation? What trails would you have done to make it 100 miles? Also, that cute little orange guy is a red spotted newt. I just got a tattoo of one on my back.

I don’t recall all of the spur trails that we did but we added quite a few on at the beginning in hopes to be closer to 90 when we reached the overlook but it didn’t go as planned. The end of the trail system has quite a bit of spur trails that are 4 to 5+ miles out and back which is a easy additional 10.

Gotcha. I believe there is a 100 mile route you can do if you ever want to. Charles Raffensperger knows it.

Take that watch off... it's giving weird readings. You are in the Appalachians, not the Contintal Divide trail!
