    Another thing that a President could do is to speak publicly about issues, such as what Ong Teng Cheong did back in 1999 where he spoke of how he had been informed by the Accountant-General that it would take “52 man-years” to produce the value of the full list of physical assets of the Government.

    • @KinTeckChua
      @KinTeckChua Před rokem +1

      既然需要52个man year,那就找104个人计算半年就完成了。可见总统选举越来越尴尬,王总统得不到答案,候选人资格不断提高,少数族群总统制度横空出世。个人建议回到旧体制,让总理直接推介总统人选即可。

    Ng Kok Song is another individual who worked under both Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Keng Swee in the Singaporean context.
    Ng Kok Song is a respected figure in Singapore's financial sector. He served as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), which is Singapore's sovereign wealth fund responsible for managing the country's reserves. GIC plays a significant role in managing Singapore's financial assets and investments.
    Ng Kok Song worked under both Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Keng Swee during his tenure at GIC. His role as CIO involved making strategic investment decisions to grow and safeguard Singapore's wealth. Given GIC's importance in managing the nation's financial resources, Ng Kok Song's contributions were vital to Singapore's economic development and stability.

    As an example on how PAP has changed the constitution to their preference can be seen in the 1980s when it implemented the GRC system, which “allows mediocre candidates to float into Parliament on the coattails of people like Tharman”, he said.

    Mr. Ng takes his participation in PE very seriously. It is good to have a President who takes the job seriously. It should not be treated as a retirement job at the huge expense of the nation. Of the 3 candidates, I believe Mr. Ng will take his job as President of Singapore very seriously to carry out his duty excellently. He is the only candidate who is determined to do something great for the country and the citizens. The other two candidates looks frivolous and striving for the best retirement job. I hope fellow Singaporean be sensible and give him a resounding win over the other two candidates. Mr. Ng likely to be the best President our country will ever have.

But for some of us today, these issues are still true. Not despairing, having hope and working hard if you find opportunities (which Singapore created for him in his first job tho he wasnt qualified, and hopefully keeps creating for young people)... these are applicable lessons for today.

    In 1992, Tharman was accused of leaking Singapore’s economic growth rate for the second quarter of that year before it was officially published.
    Then PM Goh Chok Tong was very angry when the incident happened. He said he would not tolerate the illegal disclosure of sensitive or classified information, adding that the government had to “nip the problem in the bud” and prevent anyone from gaining personal advantage as a result of a misuse of official information.
