In this rare interview shot in February 2010 - less than two years before he was killed while hiding in a culvert - Muammar Gaddafi tells presenter George Negus he's always merely represented the will of the people.
"For 40 years I have not been the ruler, the authority has been with the people," says Gaddafi calmly. Surrounded by security guards and local TV crews in a library of his military compound, which was bombed by the Americans back in 1986, Gaddafi gives an air of quiet confidence. He continues to deny responsibility in the Lockerbie bombing and advocates a one-state solution to the Israel and Palestine conflict. He also comments on Libya's nuclear programme, and shares his opinions on terrorism and democracy. Quizzed by Negus about his softened image, Gaddafi responds that "It is the world that has changed."

As I remember it it was one of the best parts of my life and I can totally confirm that everyone was happy and everyone loved Gaddafi. He had the best social system in the world that provided for everyone as much as they want and have the lifestyle they want. From the simple shepherd to the manager of 5 hotels. I just want to mention that these slave trades aren’t legal according to the libyan law; they're committed by criminals. These slaves are actually people from other African countries who want to emigrate illegally through Libya to Italy. Criminals take advantage of them, promising to help them cross the borders. To achieve that, these immigrants are subjected to inhumane conditions and forced to work.

The standard of life in Libya under this mans rule was exceptional. Look it up. Free electricity, the government paid people who had earned credentials until they found employment, provided housing and a car to newly wed couples and much, much more! He truly was a great leader.
His people NEVER turned on him, the invasion force were NOT Libyans, they were US backed mercenaries and terrorists posing as Libyans. His people loved him.
His downfall was decided when the western powers found out that he was planning to replace his countries currency, the US dollar, with the gold dinar and he was also encouraging other African nations to do the same. That would of ended the US's monopoly in Africa and soon made Africa richer than almost anywhere else in the world. This is why he was falsely portrayed as a dictator and a terrorist and killed.
R.I.P Colonel Gadaffi. A true man of his people. Don't believe the lies.

Which is why they killed him! Amazing leader. And it's also equally amazing the kind of brainwashing the state-owned media in the west is doing to its citizens. You ask any idiot citizen in the west walking down any street anything about this guy and the first thing they'll say is "terrorism". It's called "manufacturing consent" for wars and murders. Very soon, if you don't agree with their "plans" regular "free" citizens will suffer consequences ... It has already started. Fake news. Google and FaceBook filtering content. You say "Israel is an apartheid nation and Zionism is a cancer on humanity" and it all gets filtered out. Gone! Just like that! It starts slow. Insidious changes ruining freedoms and free speech. Getting idiot citizenry pitted against each other, seeding hate and discord which is later used to easily manipulate the masses. . And when it all falls to shit and people (those who think for themselves) have had enough, they put martial law in place and use live ammo to quiet down dissent. All done, of course, for your own safety and protection!

It's equally unhelpful to lionize the man and act like he was some paragon. Both the man and the situation were vastly more complex than that. Gadhafi provided many services that vastly improved the quality of life for the people of Libya, but it's not as though there wasn't another side to that coin. He was also a brutal dictator. The thing that allowed those systems to function was his willingness to keep people in line by the harshest of means, and while those things may have been good, that says nothing at all of the rest of the manifold ways that modes and methods of leadership distribute down to the populace.

Okay so back in 2000 I had a Libyan friend who had moved to the UK. He painted a vivid picture of life under him. He gave a lot to the country and to it's people and I'm sure he mentioned money and extra support for pregnant women. He built hospitals, roads and provided stability across the country for the most part. His big irrigation initiatives in the desert (1750 miles of pipes) was an incredible achievement. Yet he was a complex man with a huge Ego, I guess like a character portrayed in 'The Dictator'. He did many great things but was far from perfect; he was power hungry, controlling and most of all... Feared. He held onto control and this became his undoing in the end. Sadly life in Libya is very different today especially in the west. Libya today is very broken and might never fully recover. Did he perhaps over step the mark at times? Yes but what leader doesn't? The truth is not many leaders today could measure up to this man. He was intelligent, wise and had a certain charm.

Its nice to read the positive comments about him in this thread. I never knew any of that about him. Btw, Im American and voted for obama back in the day. His islamic roots did not bother me. He was a good President for the first 4 years, not so much his second term but overall, he really is a good, decent human being who treats people well and has a great sense of humor and has good leadership characteristics. gaddafi wanted one currency for africa, one trading-union for africa, that can dictate prises like opec, for gold, diamonds, oil ect. he wanted diamonds to be certified in africa and not antwerp or israel, because they only have value with certification of the white men. all other diamonds are "blood diamonds"....
you should watch much more videos about him, he is a very strange but intelligent guy and you can understand why the "richest of the rich" wanted him dead... he wanted to stop the exploit of africa and payed it with his life. thats why so many african countrys, and also south american, are unstable... they make a coup, install a local warlord they cheat into office and get a hole region as modern slaves. all for the ressources and new shiny things they can sell to us...

As I remember it it was one of the best parts of my life and I can totally confirm that everyone was happy and everyone loved Gaddafi. He had the best social system in the world that provided for everyone as much as they want and have the lifestyle they want. From the simple shepherd to the manager of 5 hotels. Did you know that if you were admitted at Harvard University the Libyan state would pay your tuition fees? The problem is liberation groups aren't having not much different from terrorist groups in real sense. I don't have not much to talk about but just take a look at Myanmar and their freedom and democracy liberation wars , currently. In the early days, nothing much happened until their military started to use live action ammunition and killed their own citizens (war crimes) they started to occupy high moral ground and said we fight for freedom and justice . However, if you really take a deep look inside into them, they are actually also committing war crimes as they are also killing armless civilians as long as those civilians aren't agreeing with their propaganda. Meanwhile in our international stage, we all know democracy is just a rhetoric.

A very small percentage is required to be observed while the rest is theirs, tax free. What a nice gig. Of course, they sold their souls to get that gig.
