I've been sticking with a claw grip since the late days of halo 4, so I find A to jump perfectly useable but it took a long time to get that comfortable with claw grip. Will definitely be trying your 4,4,4 sens settings though, 3 sens 5 accel has been feeling a little wonky lately. Thank God there was no heavy aim glitch on this game...
'Reload' is one of the few buttons where it isn't bad to take your thumb off the right thumbstick. It's not as if you can shoot or throw a grenade in the 0.1 seconds you take your thumb off the thumbstick. I.m.o. switch weapons (because of the low mag size of many guns) or mark/ping (to mark players during a gunfight) are way better options to put on paddles.
And vertical look sensitivity should be pretty much double the number of what horizontal look sensitivity you have. But only if you want horizontal and vertical look sensitivity to feel the same.
hello I am leaving this comment here for posterity in case anybody finds themselves struggling to make this game playable due to sensitivity problems.
about a month ago I tried getting back into halo infinite and found that ordeal to be next to impossible due to aim feeling extremely sluggish, no matter how I set my sensitivity and deadzones. I was playing on an original xbox one at 30fps.
I eventually got a new console, series s, and lo and behold these very same settings (in the video) I had on my og xbone now are perfectly fluid and the game feels simply amazing.
if you're struggling to make this game playable, UPGRADE YOUR MACHINE. this is not some sort of placebo effect. it truly makes a world of difference. proof is that mcc runs at 60 frames on xbone too and feels butter smooth. I do not know what it is about the 30fps or perhaps it's some other thing but with new hardware the game feels just like any other shooter if not much better

I do feel like the aiming is slightly “off” in Infinite even after tweaking it to experts advice. It forsure feels like it varies per weapon too, like the BR feels good. But if I rock Pistol - it turns into a shit show. Sniper feels off sometimes too - in Halo 5 I was a lord with the sniper. But in Infinite - it is indefinitely harder.
I play claw with a longer stick, my usual accuracy in ranked is 65-75% (onyx). I would HIGHLY suggest anyone using an extended stick to increase the sens (more range of motion more control) the trade off comes with SPEED. You will aim slower, hence the faster sens adjustment. The big issue with this is fine tuning your deadzones, I rarely peg my stick because of how long it is so my outer deadzone is a lot closer to the centre of my stick. My personal preference is to use as little accel as possible (its a variable sens and is hard to develop muscle memory) so my acceleration only kicks in when I’m basically pegging the stick (the norm is usually 50% of the input)
MY PROBLEM is the axial deadzones… I have a lot more control using a longer stick but whenever I try to move in a diagonal motion my sensitivity moves almost twice as fast making me over shoot A LOT, not sure if there is a fix to this… mine is currently 3.5, maxing it out at 15.0 is like aiming with a D-pad and having it on 0.0 makes it very hard to move in a straight line without accidental vertical/horizontal input
Raising axial deadzone, for me, helps keep my reticule at head/chest height.

I've been playing Halo tons ever since Halo 3, and until around a year ago (when I got an Elite Controller) I was using Bumper Jumper. Surprisingly, changing from Bumper Jumper didn't take long to get comfortable with. I use LT for zoom (hold instead of toggle). RS click is melee (I actually prefer this more than RB). RB is for grenades (which once again didn't take long to get comfortable with). LS click is to mark - I get tons of callout assists. As for the paddles, why not map them to the D-pad instead? For example, I have D-pad up set to crouch, and D-pad right set to sprint. 2 of my paddles are mapped to those buttons. Then, this frees up A and X (which are much easier to press instead of the D-Pad) so I can use them for AI Scan and Switch Grenade. My remaining 2 paddles are used for Switch Weapon and Use Equipment. FWIW, I don't claw. Let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions :)
since H2. ive always played the regular default layout until Infinite. i swapped to bumper jumper. ive been stuck in D1- mid D2 for a couple seasons. ive now swapped to hell jumper and got in D4 within a couple of hours. im still getting use to it but i think i prefer the zoom on LT and mele on RS.
another GeForce 1080 gamer, love to see it as someone using old hardware too, upgrading soon though!
I wish you could turn some of these settings off on console, like the fauna on maps being a toggle would be nice. As funny as it is to see chickens running around on high power it's also something that's eating up resources and it'd be better to have those resources used on something more important than rendering in chickens..
Anyone still having issues with sens. i've had the game since day one of release. to this day i am still adjusting my sensitivity. what i've found that helped to get a more "linear " feel with vertical and horizontal is. doubling the vertical from the horizontal. personally my thresh and axials are low
Yeah, I honestly can't figure it out. I was really good at all the other halos but I'm picking it back up again and I have no clue what settings I need. I feel all over the place. Aim feel weird in this game.
Yeah I can’t figure It out either, one game I’m frying and the next I’m 48% accuracy, inconsistent
@griffinkay3509 I finally found my settings after a while. I'm shooting 60 percent now. Turn off V sync in settings and it will make the game more smooth.
Im going to try out some of these settings but no matter what i do the aiming doesn't feel anything like the old Halo games.. is there anyway to get it to feel more like H3 aiming and not always over correcting my shot placement 😢
if they gave us a way to modify the Sensitivity Curve this could be solved. Frustrating
Lower your sensitivity. You're over correcting because there's no aim assist bubble around enemies like in classic Halo, so as soon as your reticle is off the enemy player model it flies off at your max sens. You can't really fix the problem but lowering your sens will at least keep your aim closer to the enemy instead of flying off in whatever direction you were correcting towards.
Hey man, I would really like to get your advice on something. I’ve been a Bumper Jumper player for a long time. I recently purchased an Elite Series 2. How have the bumpers on your elite controller held up over the years? I’m worried that my elite bumpers will break if I keep playing bumper jumper on them. The controller was so expensive. I used to use a Series X controller and the LB has really loosened up. Should I map jump and melee to the paddles and use LB/RB for something else?

having mark on the dpad makes it so frustrating using it in matchmaking, this game basically requires an elite series 2 controller lol for the optimal gameply
Yeah I hate moving my thumb over for the ping, I'm half tempted to make the final back paddle ping instead of weapon swap

Controller feels so bad that I don't understand why people keep saying its the best way to play halo infinite. As someone who grew up playing halo, i much prefer playing halo infinite with keyboard and mouse, it's not even a contest. I don't know what they screwed up with the aiming settings in halo infinite, but I can't aim for crap no matter how much ive modified the controls.
Which stick calculation is your elite set to? For series 1 you can check the radial box or leave it unchecked( axis independent). Its kind of a huge detail to include when sharing all of the other settings.

@@BBKDRAGOON its a worm hole that nobody really knows and Microsoft still has never given an explanation. If you haven't changed anything then you're on axis independent. Series 2 controllers come with radial as the default. Series 2 also has a 3rd option called true diagonals. I myself try to figure out which one a game was developed with and go with that. Lastly I didnt mean to send you down the worm hole either, id just leave it alone lol. Ive scoured the internet and experimented forever and im still not 100%. My settings are very similar to yours. I think i usually roll with radial on my right stick tho for halo infinite. It seems to play more smoothly with infinites strange targeting and aim assist.

I cannot play this game. Whatever they've done under the hood with the acceleration or magnetism makes it so it just doesn't feel like the 20years of Halo games before it.

It takes a ton of tweaking to make it feel decent. I still don't entirely know why I run some of the settings I do other than "it feels good,". Keep trying different options, maybe one will land ya know?

I’m keeping the game uninstalled. It pisses me off that you need a degree in controller settings to know what the fuck to do. To this day aiming with controller feels awful in halo infinite. Halo 5s gunplay was phenomenal, I wouldn’t even mind halo 3 either. It just feels like aim assist is removed half way through a gun fight
Aim assist / reticle magnetism doesn't engage until your reticle is already over the enemy, which defeats the purpose entirely. It used to engage as you got close to them.
@@attached3245 that makes so much sense! I guarantee it was changed because the game launched on PC too. Better to ruin the console experience than get an uproar from PC kids saying aim assist is an aimbot.
@@JA-kr1lz Yep and to make matters worse, it's pretty strong when active so it causes the player to fight *against the game* to aim how they like. You'll be making adjustments while accounting for the slowed reticle movement caused by the magnetism, then the enemy moves outside your reticle meanwhile you're still adjusting thinking it's in magnet mode and this causes you to send the reticle flying because it has disengaged the magnetism all of a sudden. There is zero dithering around the zone of magnetism: it's a 0 or a 1
wish they'd let us increase the sens more on controller. 10 on infinite feels like 6 on reach, 4, or 5, and compared to an mnk player who can instantly turn around i feel like i'm at a crazy disadvantage. sucks going from 20 in Destiny 2 to the like, 6 or 7 that 10 feels like in infinite :/
I wonder, does the xbox accessories app let you change curves that would let you hit max faster?

Feel like acceleration makes more of a difference for the snappiness

I've been messing with the settings for about 2 weeks and I can't get anything to feel even slightly comfortable or similar to classic halo. aim feels so clunky. skill issue?
no definitely not, it's a REALLY different feeling than classic controller Halo games. I've had a hard time adjusting to it. What I would say is experiment and use the training mode a lot to test things out. It still doesn't feel as nice as some of the older titles, but I think I'm finally getting closer to something that feels pretty predictable for me. You're definitely not alone in your feelings though
2 years in and I'm still having the same problem. Can't find any settings that feel consistent day to day.
@@iiDefied hey I actually tried bbkdragoon settings and they felt pretty alright. it still sucks but it sucks less. placebo effect? maybe you should try them out
@@iiDefied And people wonder why this game can't retain players. Aiming is the most core mechanic for an FPS, and it feels like total ass in infinite.
15 max input on move and 6 max input on look with a short stick on left and long on right feels good. 97 fov feels good. Sensitivity is 3,2.5,3.5 and I've been shooting high 50% and low 60%. I shot 64% before I got off for the night. My axials are on 3.
You should personalize the deadzones but the max inputs feel balanced with my stick and fov setup.

i love it, use it exclusively now but i play every other game on mnk so its more natural at this point. halo was the only game i used a controller on but with how.... particular the game is with all the settings, mnk is just easier at this point lol@@BBKDRAGOON
