From that point of view, if wrong is done against me, it is technically my own fault for not yet reaching a mode of perfection that would allow me to avoid such a situation in the first place. My thoughts, words, and actions that are driven by anger, greed, or ignorance come back at me. That goes for everyone. Despite my potential to be murdered (as a result of my own faults), is still an evil action that will come back on the person who murdered me. Life is an eternal circle.

I used to not have a problem with this, but then I watched a documentary showing the process of a monk who was assigned to "find" the reincarnated person of his previous Lama. Ultimately he "found" this kid in a little hut on the hillside about 10 miles from the large temple/church. After testing the kid, where the kid managed to pick out about half of the objects that used to belong to the previous Lama (which seemed little better than random chance) the group of elders decided he was the one... ...So the little family living in the hut was instructed that it was a great honor for them to have their young son taken from them, never to return, and be raised/groomed to be the next Lama. They stood there holding back tears because their "culture" told them they should be happy to have their young child taken from them for this great honor. After that I officially had an issue with the last remaining organized religion that I didn't have an issue with before.
The Dalai Lama and other "reincarnated" lamas totally have contact with their families. The Dalai Lama wrote in books multiple lessons he had learned from his mother and brothers etc over the years. And, they are not taken from their families. If the families do not permit, the temple or whatever 'leaves the door open' for them, for when their families are ready. However, it is like a very rigorous boarding school and they are often away from their families for months at a time. Sometimes families are invited to stay, but they don't want to because of work and the strict rules that temples follow.. I'm not Buddhist or religious, but I like the Dalai Lama, read several of his books, and there are some not whole truths to your statement.. Perhaps their are sects of Buddhist temples where the "reincarnated" lamas or whatever are taken against families will, but I haven't heard of that.
