Mmmm... I've only ever heard Ning Feng speak a few sentences. But yes, now that you mention it.
(Except that the Russian accent is far more distinct in Oistrakh.)
David is his favorite violinist as he mentioned in an interview.

I really enjoyed Jansen’s Tchaik. I’ve listened to Li’s 1st mvmnt and find it extraordinary in its unconventional form. Mr. Feng’s interpretation is certainly something special as well.

Very good playing of the caprice 7, gold medal of the Paganini Competition well deserved.
Ning feng’s flying staccato is out of this world. Speed control, dynamic. While we only barely managed to make the sound, he made music while with full control of the sound. Just don’t know how he managed. Any one knows which bow is he using?

He is using a violin by Stefan Peter Greiner, not a Strad.
@@pzlavln In a recent pre-concert internvew at National Centre for the Performing Arts of China in Bejing, Ning Feng said that he is currently using a 1710 Strad lended by a Hong Kong Violin collecter.

very good player but why he change the rhythm of the dot notes?
Because he's a soloist and he gets to make those kinds of choices, you can not like it, there are many other interpretations.
why did he say violinists can only play Bach or Paganini as solo encores? what about Ernst, Wieniawski, Ysaye? last mov of the Bartok solo sonata? some movements of the Hindemith sonatas? Prokofiev solo sonata. Corigliano Red Violin. and tons of other stuff. anyway, awesome playing here.
Some programs have rules that the encore has to be under 5min or the like. A Ysaye sonata would be too long, same with Bartok and Prokofiev solo sonata + most of the stuff you listed. Ernst is something that most top violinists don't feel comfortable playing after a long concerto b/c of the risk of damaging their reputations for accuracy and perfection (see why Wieniawski 1 is rarely played/to see the effects of a damaging inaccurate performance search for critiques of Ray Chen's version) + (I'm assuming you mean the polyphonic etudes). As for Wieniawski... well no one wants to hear a Wieniawski Etude Caprice/L'Ecole Modern as they are not well-composed pieces.
