Watching your videos has got me trying my hand at scratch building a lobster shack with pier. A person can learn a lot from you. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much Benjamin!!! It’s a thrill for me to hear how much I be inspired people. That has always been my main goal for the channel. Thanks for the support!!! 👍
Jason, another great video. Great techniques on painting wooden sleeper track.
The tip for treating the styrene to remove the bubble texture is awesome, thank you for that.
Chers, and stay safe, Michael
Thank you so much Michael!!! I truly appreciate it! 👍
Very nice way of weathering track work. It looks very realistic! Thanks for the video.
Excellent advice and wonderful demonstration of your technique. Loved the results!!! Can't wait to follow the entire process until you get this part finished :)
Thank you so much Ernest!!! I really appreciate it! 👍
The way it is at the beginning kinda reminds me of the Stanton curve in Unstoppable
Your attention to detail is amazing
Thank you so much David!!! I truly appreciate it! 👍
Can't agree with you more about your shop. I've never had that. Partly because I don't have enough room. The truest thing you said is MAKE IT ALL VISIBLE .
Thanks for the support Bob!!! I really appreciate it! 👍
Good Morning 🌄 Jason. What a great way to start Labor Day weekend. Coffee ☕ and trains. Thank you for the tips on weathering railroad ties. Especially the pencil.
plus one on the pencil
Thank you so much Chris!!! ☕️ I’m so glad to hear that you liked the video! Happy modeling!!! 👍
There are several Gods of Model Railroading……Allen, Sellios, Frary, Hayden, Furlow. You my friend can stand proudly with all of them. You have inspired me to revisit this wonderful hobby. Your vids are always entertaining and educational. Well done Jason and thank you so much for sharing !!
WOW! Thank you so much!!! I truly appreciate it! Happy modeling! 👍
And he is the nicest guy you could ever meet...!
@Daniel you’re always welcome to your opinion…..there are many more !! Everyone has their favourites.
Boomer diorama is a master !
@@sylvainrichard6679 Boomer is a master !!💖
Informative tutorial video overall Jason. Pencil alone was great tip for spike heads.. Three great tips on work area. Exciting viewing as this layout progresses.. Great use of boxes for a visual effect for building placement. Two plastic buildings for that transformation not looking plastic. Happy Modeling my friend☕️☕️
Thank you so much Ed!!! I always appreciate hearing from you! 👍
Incredibly awesome once again!
Thank you!!!! 👍
Can't believe how realistic the track(Plastic)wood ties look after you added all those different techniques!
Thank you so very much!!! I really appreciate it and thanks for watching!!! 👍
Don't put anything away in boxes - these are golden words...!!! You are absolutely right, it's "out of sight, out of mind!" I have so much stuff, I even know I have it, but I have no idea where. Transparent boxes would be the key to keeping my sanity, especially since my "Workshop" is just a tiny desk in my office and room used for other hobbies too. Thanks for your tips!!! (Sorry, can't subscribe, I did that over a year ago already...LOL ) Fistbump!
Thank you so much for watching Norm! And thanks for the support! Happy modeling!!! 👍
The attention to detail is insane, I love it. Just simple little things that most people wouldn't even think of and it makes all the difference.
Thank you so much Jon!!! And thanks for watching! 👍
Thanks again for share Jason. Track looks real
Cesar
Your welcome and thanks for watching!!! 👍
You are seriously the Obi Wan of train modeling 🙌🏽 the techniques and the creations you bring to life so inspiring!!! 💕
LOL, Thank you so much Anissa!!! I’m a huge Star Wars fan so I really appreciate your comment! 👍
Hey Jason, I'm expecting you to do a series on building the upcoming FOS Scale mega kit 'Axle Road'. That way, us mere mortals can learn how to build it! ;-))
I definitely will have a couple videos on building that kit. It looks like so much fun! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
For the last year I have been organizing my work area What I realized was work stations work well. My main work bench, a smaller work station for kit building and a work station for soldering , loco, and rolling stock repairs. The two things I would add to your list is a label marker and gallon zip lock bags. Left over parts like windows, doors, detail parts, roof, wall and metal casting parts. I just use a sharpie to mark the bag. I have a clear tub marked parts box I put the zip lock bags in. Quick and clean. Haver learned a lot from your channel .....till next time
That’s some good advice Will!!! As always, thank you so much for watching! I appreciate ya !!! 👍
Fantastic work as always
Thank you so much buddy!!! I really appreciate it! 👍
Thanks Jason, I’ve picked up some amazing tips, your skills know no bounds. Seriously.
Thank you so much Tom!!! I really appreciate the support! 👍
Super cool Jason ! Can’t wait to see the final result for this section of your layout.
Thank you so much Patrick!!! I really appreciate it!
Totally amassing, as always. Thanks for showing your work.
Thank you so much buddy!!! I really appreciate it! 👍
"Don't put things in boxes" he says while standing next to at least 30 unlabeled boxes... I kid, of course. Some stuff should go in boxes. I bet what's in those is bulk materials, old stuff you don't use anymore and empty original packaging boxes. Or maybe it's stuff that has nothing to do with your workshop. I just thought it was funny. Anyway, I've been waiting FOREVER for you to start working on this area! I can't wait for your builds on those Walthers kits.
Thank you so much!!! Those boxes are full of comics. I’ve been collecting since I was a kid. I have over 3000 comics and they are all in order and logged in my computer. Thanks for watching! 👍
Hi ya Jason. Ah…..the beginning of the city scene. Nice. This is going to look great. The buildings you chose are going to be very impressive. I like all the tips you gave for your shop being organized and workable. I kept having a vision while watching this. There is an apparent lip or small ledge behind this scene that runs the length of the wall. I envisioned a length of track with a motorized zeppelin on it. Automated with a Motorman system. That way when turned on the zeppelin floats back and forth in the sky. Zeppelins would be era applicable. Just a weird thought. Thanks for the update. I look forward to the next. Take care. See ya.
Always great to hear from you Norm!!! That’s a great idea! You’ve got me thinking 🤔 Thanks for watching and have a great day!!! 👍
Jason because of you I've started building wood structures and I love what I can do with them. This leads me to my situation. Most if not all of my other structures are plastic ones and do not compare or mesh with the wooden structures. I had a thought to maybe covert the outside walls & maybe the roofs to wood. I was wondering if you had attempted doing this and could give me any advice. Thanks Jason and keep up the excellent modeling
Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!!! I have a video called “Painting plastic to look like wood “ It may help you. The key is to texture the plastic before you start painting it. Simply go over the walls with sandpaper, you can even add nail holes with a pin. Then paint and weather it to look like wood. Hope this helps. Happy modeling John!!!
I’m almost. ALMOST. Ready to paint my Llagas Creek track. Sigh. Can’t put the rails in the plastic ties if it’s painted. So I need to paint after laying the track. Same exact problem. Only bigger and outside. Inside, for the most part, I’m hand spiking. So I can paint the rails before laying the track. But not with the “flex” tracks. Your pencil trick is GREAT. I used it to add metal edges to my coal buckets. Quick and great looking. Never thought about using it on spikes… WELL!! I see what I’m doing later in the month. As soon as it’s under 90° outside so I can work in the day outside. Of course then it will snow… May get perhaps 2 hours of fall. See if I can paint rails in those 2 hours!!!!🚀🚀🚂😃
As I love the tie color on the Llagas Creek track, I’m going to mask the ties as best I can. Doable in #1 gauge. I’ve just bought a usb battery airbrush just for painting track and stuff on the railroad where I can’t paint in da booth. Do you have any issues with that paint when painted directly over the metal rail?
I absolutely love watching the progress on your outdoor layout! It was exciting to see it go through the wall! 👍 Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
I have had no problems with that paint. I’ve tried painting the track first but then when you go to bend it on a curve the rail spikes move and then you have dots on the side of the rails that are not painted.
@@JasonJensenTrains and I think with a portable airbrush it’s not just better looking, is quicker and just all the way around better.
nice
Thanks Joe!!! 👍
Dear Jason, was curious how you were going to do this very corner of the layout. Cool idea to fully model the interior of the tunnel.
On the sloped up part on the inside of the lower and higher level curves; I humbly think you could use some extra elevation. This will justify the presence of the tunnel, and it will tie in the two levels in a more natural way than just the obvious retaining walls.
Overall, very cool project, looking forward to your next installment!!
Thank you so very much Vincent!!! I really appreciate it!
😊
👍
As usual Jason your work is fantastic but I was wondering why you don't use Sculptamold or plaster cloth instead of Mod Podge? Is there a reason for this?? Not being critical, trying to understand and learn. As everyone says your a great inspiration and teacher.. Appreciate your help, Chris
Said it before, I’ll say it again; love your videos. Almost always learn something new. But, whaddya think, maybe time for some different music..? ;-}
Thank you so very much Rich!!! I really appreciate it! Maybe it is time to get some new music. I’ll work on it.
Another great informative and very detailed video! I have a question though, I see you don’t use a roadbed on the mainline … such as cork etc. I’m just curious? love your videos my friend
Not a question... 👎
Thank you so very much!!! I don’t use cork because I like the track being at ground level and cork can deaden the sound of the metal wheels on the rails and I absolutely love that sound. Thanks for watching!!! 👍
@@FourDollaRacing 😆
@@JasonJensenTrains you arent alone, I love that sound too.
You used earth brown on the ties. Showed two bottles of paint but didn't tell us what the second paint was. Was it the same kind earth brown ?
Both bottles the same (Earth Brown)
What ratio is use in the brown paint in the airbrush with the water? 50/50
what type of primer did you use on the rails ties
No primer, just Earth brown from Ammo.
Oof! I hope you didn’t have to pay $199.95 for the Metzger Building. Yowza!
LOL, I never complain about the price of kits after working with other manufacturers in producing kits. It takes hours, weeks and some times months to produce a kit. It’s ALOT of work.
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it! Happy modeling!!! 👍
The way I figure the true price of a kit is to divide the price of the kit by the number of hours it takes me to complete the kit. 😊
Never mind had a brain fart.
(Pssst. Your title has a typo in the word "starting.")
Thank you John!!! I just fixed it! 👍
