Interms of pure quality of tennis, the Graf vs Seles '92 final was the best ever. They pushed each other in that match to the brink and the shotmaking was out of this world. Both deserved to win that day.
In terms of drama, the Graf vs Hingis '99 finals was incredible. Never ever seen anything like that on a tennis court up till then. Steffi fought her heart out that day and got better with every cheer
Absolutely to both points!
The 92 final was by far the best match ever!! Weird ranking.
Is not a Rankiing is chronological order
The Capriati/Clijsters and Seles/Graf finals were a hell of a match!
Stefi Graf is in 3 out of 5 of these best moments. Mutual love between Graf and the French Open.
I loved Steffi for her elegance and fairness. A calm, balanced and pleasant person on and off the tennis court. A figurehead for the sport in every respect. She will always have a special place in my heart.
Absolutely. Grace and power in motion. Ciao!
Steffi and Monica no doubt they're the best!!!
I love Clijsters. She is always a class act.
I agree
1989 Sanchez - Graf is sadly missing. Graf was #1 at that moment and had won the Grand Slam in 1988 and AO in 1989. Nobody expected that the barely known Arantxa could beat the german.
Yes, and ut was a very dramatic match, many dramatic moments
Wouldn’t agree more
@ppm120667 and yet Graf was a gracious loser in the 89 and 92 finals
@ppm120667 They have all toiled hard for their game, everyone is a sore loser at some point of their career...
Graf didn't play well on that final....too many unforced errors,i saw the game!
'92 was a historical moment when they played. Everyone knows.
1999 Graf vs Hingis was a so classic Match. Drama and great Tennis. And the last Hallo I am not gone from Steffi Graf. Great!! Final and for me the best
Martina and Chrissie: the greatest rivalry in women's tennis.
Also because of their different styles. It's just sad that today nobody plays serve and volley the way Martina did it.
I think the greatest rivalry in all of sports!
stu wilks wrong. It was clearly Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris
@@guyinsf not even close to Lin Dan vs Lee Chong Wei.
There s no Roland Garros without Steffi ...So many great memories and matches...
1. Seles - Graf (FO 1992)
2. Hingis - Graf (FO 1999)
3. Graf - Sanchez (FO 1996)
4. Sharapova - Halep (FO 2014)
5. Navratilova - Evert (FO 1985)
3/5 for Graf... amazing
wow Steffi...this is why I love you
'99 graf / hingis was awesome. I think graf had a knee injury or surgery & graf managed to win the match. Look at graf's reaction she was in disbelief after winning. She has class, grace, proper behavior in the court & can manage her emotions. You don't see her all angry, throwing her racquet etc...she moves on to the next point This comes from her strict focus training background. Kudos! Graf best player of all time! I admire your talent & great attitude. :)
The Hingis-Graf match in 99 was overshadowed by the on-court hysterics against Hingis over the controversial line call (Hingis’s shot was IN, but called out).
She stupidly crossed the net to see the mark. That was the beginning of the END for her !
Plus her mom grabbing her tear-soaked daughter from the locker room afterwards to attend the awards ceremony.
I've never seen such a rude, hostile crowd against one player as the French were against Hingis---she was DOOMED from the start !
I wouldn't even rate that 99 match in the Top 5, there are other worthy matches. The Graf-Sanchez Vicario match in 96 deserves mention and often overlooked---it went to 10-8 in the third for Graf.
Number one is Seles vs. Graf 92. Nothing comes close.
Tim Poster wrong. Evert/Navratilova 85 will always be the best.
Agreed 👍
I agree with you, Tim!
This number 1? Come on has to be 92 ( the level of play was amazing ) or 99 ( just the fight that Steffi put and how the crowd lifted I ve never seen that again! )
Such joy for Jennifer Capriati!
That was awesome to see Chris Evert present the trophy to Jennifer after she won being that Chris mentored Jennifer. It was great that she turned her life around and came back to become a champion and world number one.
Jenifer was a sweet girl. She got a little sidetracked and overwhelmed by Fame, but she came back strong.
1. 1992 seles vs graf
2. 1999 graf vs hingis
3. 1987 graf vs navratilova
4. 1989 sanchez-vicario vs graf
5. 2001 capriati vs clijsters
Seles- Graf 1992, highest quality Final. The best Women's finals EVER
...your opinion of course!
@Illya Kuryakin
In 2000 was when journalists made the vote? You may want to check for updates.
@Illya Kuryakin
That answer is right between your finger tips and your computer keyboard.
@Illya Kuryakin
Google "top 10 greatest women's tennis players of all time"
I'm quite certain that wouldn't see a CONVID-19 link/news.
graf/seles in 1992= best moment in wta
Youcef Naceur hands down. Best match ever. Nothing comes even close.
Youcef Naceur u mean wimbledon 92 final...when seles quiet like church mouse
Yep. Two giants just at another level. Incredible.
Jennifer’s career happened in 2 fazes & the second 1/2 was brilliant
So good!!
Jennifer is living proof that no matter what you can always come back better than before.
Steffi graf was such a goddess!!! So many memorable moments
Graf Sanchez in 1996 !!!!
The seles vs graf match, OMG was amazing, only bettered at the AO final- which was jaw droppingly good
i had the smallest tv to watc
h it on so i could barely make out the ball and such, so ur probs right, but didnt Monica force her to play bad
Graf-Seles 1992, highest quality Final ever but Graf-Hingis 1999 is the sweetest moment EVER for all Graf fans. Also, no disrespect to Capriati and Clijsters, that final was not the most memorable, it was just a marathon.
hilarious.
Davenport, Seles, Chris Evert and Billie Jean King all state that Serena has faced the most intense level of competition of **any era. ... but /you say that it is 'crappy'.
Tennis continually improves, across the decades. The competition isn't 'crappy' because you say that it is. Let's be realistic: if Graf played Vika or Sharapova, she would have been hit off the court. Davenport flat-out embarrassed Graf in the 1999 Wimbledon final. Tracy Austin said that Graf was a better player in 1999 than in 1989 because had to keep improving just to stay competitive.
how come you always appear when your magical alter-ego
'Illya Kuryakin'
appears... instantaneuously?
and you are lying through your eighty year-old teeth.
you totally know that Sharapova would kill Graf 6-2 6-0.
be real, you lunatic!
you think Graf had tough competition but every f*cking tennis players states that tennis has continually improved.
either you are deluded out of your skill or you are just very, very high and out of your old brain.
all these people have been tennis champions, across different eras -- but YOU know more than a professional tennis player, about how tennis has changed. Date's game would disturb any player, because of her strange grips and low balls.
did she /ever/ come close to making the top 20 again?
no, she f*cking didn't. she didn't get to the latter stages of any notable tournament.
get a grip.
and Steffi would have to pray that her nose and her bullying of umpires into siding with her and her nose would win her a few games against any top 10 player in the 2000s.
on skill alone, she would be flat-out embarrassed.
Wozniacki is a far more complete player than Graf ever was.
you know it, we all know it!
Roberto Payao there was no drama in the clijsters Capriati final. They respected each other. The 1999 leaves a bitter taste. Hingis was a b*tch in 1999 and Graf fully benefited from the uninterrupted booing of the audience. She could have asked the audience to quiet down but she was too happy that it would lead to Hingis’ meltdown. I have to wonder how people can actually enjoy a match when there is so much hate against one player. Hingis’ demeanor back then was just bad but she still was an 18 year old. Graf was 30 and she could have stopped the nonsense but instead she built on it doing hola with the crowd etc.
juju1305, well that shows what character Graf had on court !
Merveilleuse, notre chere Simona!
I always like Monica. I believe she is a legand for ever in women Tennis.
Best ever player Steffi Graf.
Watching stefi glide and slice on clay is a treat. She grew up and trained on clay first and it shows. Her final against Hingis was so memorable for me. Graf/Navaratilova was such an interesting clash of styles and the graf/seles was some intense shotmaking and tactics
I watched Monica-Steffi match in 1992 when I was 17 at my boarding school hostel...fuhhh d tie break for d last set 10-8!!!
Monica THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!
Graf vs Hingis 1999 was clearly the #1 match.
Not even close. Apart from the fact that Steffi clearly should have lost that one, it wasn´t a better match than Capriati/ Clijsters, or Martina/ Chris.
@@fundhund62 should have lost? Are you drugs or what? Keeping the head together is the biggest reason for any success. And Steffi did just that.
During the Olympic coverage, they mentioned Capriati's Gold Medal win in Barcelona over Graf (I think it was the only time she beat Steffi). I was never a huge fan of Capriati, but she deserved her Slam wins based on her talent. I think her career and life would've been much different if she'd won the best women's match I ever saw... 1991 US Open Semifinal, Capriati lost to Seles 7-6 in the third. Navratilova had upset Graf in the other Semi. Capriati was 15, but would've been the heavy favorite to beat Navratilova and be the youngest Slam winner ever. She had to wait almost 10 years to win one.
And capriati never won Slam in Graf era.
It’s weird that here they show a highlight of Monica losing a point when she won the match. There was so many brilliant rallies in that match and they show THAT?!
Show !!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That backhand @5:06 is EPIC! Carve it, carve it, carve it, carve it, carve it...drop the hammer!!! I'd put my $$$ on Steffi vs Serena both in their prime. That is no disrespect to Serena, who is a BEAST!!!
Wt I observed :One by one video clarity is improved
Tendrian que hacer otro ranquin, hay finales que fueron muy buenas, Capriati y Clisters fue peleada, pero falto Graf vs Sanchez Vicario 96, no tanto por su duracion, sino por lo peleado que fue.
Graf was the darling of tennis
Scene #2. At the 96 French Open, to my knowledge, Graf def Davenport, Seles, and Hingis #3,#2 and #1 in the same event. My first time ever hearing of 1 player defeating the top 3 seeds in the same event
Clay court tennis ❤️
Graf is the best in the wordl...I love you
1. 1992 seles vs graf
2. 1999 graf vs hingis
3. 1987 graf vs navratilova
4. 1996 graf vs sanchez-vicario
5. 2001 capriati vs clijsters
Nice!
my list : Graf vs Sanchez 1996 , and Capriati vs Ciljstersz 2001
Graf vs hingis is full of drama...it's unforgetable...what made capriati #1 ?
Aloysius Wicaksono the score. It is considered by many to be the greatest women’s final of all time after Venus-Davenport at Wimbledon 2005.
While neither player was particularly dramatic, the quality of play was incredibly high, more so than Hingis-Graf or Sanchez-Graf, and oh that 12-10 final set score...unprecedented.
Basically most of Steffi s finals! ❤️❤️
Liked !
That first point against Hingis is the one that broke her spirit in the match and ultimately her career as she was 5 from 6 in slam finals befroe facing Graf and 0 from 6 after. Graf broke her spirit. That topspin passing shot is Hingis' career sailing passed her.
Lol Damn, savage..
Inediblehulk I think it's the full hour of uninterrupted booing from the audience and the loss that took Hingis' spirit away. I was so shocked with that loss.
yes, but it all stemmed from that point - that was when she broke then everything became magnified for her.
100 % agree
is that Illya, George Henry Thomas
or
**Gunther?
That #2 was really sweet
Arancha Sánchez Vicario vs Steffi Graff 1989. Best final ever.
Steffi couldn’t have handled herself any better in that Hingis match than what she did. She was not gonna stand for any of Hingis’ mess.
are we playing tennis or chatting a bit?? lol
French crowd is the worst crowd I have ever seen
@@kalevala29 a really nasty character.
@Max E Hingis was never a 'brat'.
stop your complete trash. and what on earth is maniacal obsession with Serena? She is mentioned absolutely nowhere here and **keep talking about her.
@Max E Hingis as entirely **correct in all of those statements, except regarding Mauresmo. so what is 'trash' about that?
you only bring up Serena because you are depraved racist and because you have to endlessly deflect attention from Graf and her criminal family.
cheap. classless.
Monica Seles, the best, FOREVER¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Graf and Hingis by FAR the best women's FO Final!
Not by a long shot. The quality dropped significantly after Hingis failed to serve it out in the second set. After that it became largely a matter of booing a 18-year old off the court.
Long time ago these masterpieces of tennis. Shame on this years final :(
For me it was 1999 because it was sweet revenge after all the bad-mouthing from Hingis, with her mother previously saying that Graf was washed-up. Plus, the childishness and arrogance from Hingis herself on court. And the fact that this was Graf's last GS and her last year on the tour. Just so much drama in that match, and I'm not talking about the tennis!
3:42 That's how you respond to winning Wimbledon. Like it was just another good point.
90 91 92 - 3 IN A ROW...SELES WAS ON A ROLL... BUT THEN 93 AGAIN GRAF? HOW?/ HAHAHA A MAN INBETWEEN 11 TO 22 SLAMS JURNEY...
I think this year's final (Sharapova vs Halep) is definitely one of the best and should be added!
Oh man... God will forgive you for saying that..
Samir Gohil Lmao. Sharapova was godawful throughout the entire tournament and the others were simply too mentally weak to stop her from grinding her way to the trophy. That final was the perfect conclusion to an insufferable nightmare and should deservingly be on the all time worst list where it belongs.
number 50, for that
Samir Gohil I totally agree with you, Sharapova vs Halep was the best final, I love Sharapova, she's a Goddess.
Samir Gohil----------not even CLOSE
Graf - Sanchez Vicario 1989
This is official of Roland Garros channel , so they called the best on their history matched so that is the best!#lol
viendo el tenis de ahora a estas dos se las come con patatas cualquier top 100
the order is just chronological
Capriati vs Clijsters is actually one of the best Women's finals EVER at a grand slam
really???? i was there, it wasnt that great
man, you and your two personalities are a total joke!
they must give you a lot of heavy weed in the seniors home.
I don't agree. It was a match full of emotion but very poor in terms of quality.
All the Arancha-Graf finals (specially 1996) or the Graf-Seles (specially 1992) were way better
@@yomismo74 Which match did you even watch? The quality 2001 was incredibly high. The Graf-Sanchez finals were nothing in comparison.
@@fundhund62 Capriati-Clijsters was a very emotional match full of unforced errors,. in terms of quality was a very poor match
Can't believe 2000 Mary Pierce match didn't make it.
Seks Graf 1992 the best women match ever, EVER
Seles is the best !
The best woman player of the game ! She's right at the top the way I see.Been following tennis for a long time since the 70's and she impressed me the most.
@Max E Still think with all your wonderful statistics she is one of the BEST players in women's tennis.Period !
@Max E Cool.
Holy Crap. 1992 Seles def Graf, Seles barely celebrated or smiled after winning match point and walking to shake hands. Graf is likely the 3rd best player ever, but Seles would have likely become the Greatest of All Time if she would’ve kept going.
I think number 1:Steffi vs Hingis(99).
Number 2:Steffi vs Sanchez-Vicario(96).
And number 3:Steffi vs Monica(92).
Petenis trbaik lndonesia , yayuk bsuki pernah ngrsain kerasnya persaingan di lpangan Rollan garos pranch open , dithn 90han nma lndonesia ada di daptar WTA n msuk 30 besar petenis elit dunia melalui kayuhan tangan seorang yayuk basuki ❤❤❤❤
I wouldn't rank these in the top 100 top moments in tennis. And i watched everyone of these matches live back in the day. Maybe the title should be my top moments among my favorite players that played at the French Open in the 1980s and 1990s. Lol
But I would give the Chris Everett vs Martina Navratilova match a thumbs up for being a pivotal match in tennis history.
Monica is the best ❤
ALL PLAYERS IS POWERFUL, PRACTICE FULL, TECHNICAL FULL, STAMINA FULL AND STRONG FULL.........
BUT WINERS IS WONDERFUL......
Seles-Graf '92 is the best, in my opinion.
Graf Vs Hingis... Full Of Drama
92 should have highlighted Seles winners ... and should be number one ... 99 final was just full of drama nothing more... ...
El mejor momento del tenis femenino sin dudas, una jugadora mejor que la otra. Hoy ya no es así, está muy bajo el tenis femenino una pena.
And Arantxa ???
CAPRIATI AND CLIJSTERS match one of the best..........definitely..........i noticed something about capriati, though, when see played...to me, it seemed that she had a if you do it...i can do it better style of play...and i think that cost her matches...........just my opinion
lack some mythical and myocardial between Arantxa and Steffi as 1989 or 1996
La Reina De Java
I agree Arantxa should have been somewhere in there as well.
funny how steffi beat both martina's with an inside forehand as the last shot
She didn´t. Navratilova double-faulted on match point.
And Hingis made an unforced error.
Capriati/Clijsters is certainly not #1 in terms of quality and drama, compared to Evert/Nav, Seles/Graf or Graf/Hingis.
Illya Kuryakin I do
Can’t believe without LiNa,what an important moment for China and Asia
Illya Kuryakin That’s the most important moment for Asia and China tennis
Halep vs Stephens 2018
Where is Maria Sharapova vs Simona Halep 2014 final?
I watched all the greats play. Hands down Graf is all time best. Hope I can see another like her in my life time .
+23landcruiser Without a doubt, I agree.
Some people moved quickly, some moved gracefully, no one did both as well as she did. Best footwork I ever saw. Combine that with a cannon forehand and a slice backhand that carved soooo low... She was impressive and a pleasure to watch.
Greatest player ever... Doubt we'll see anything like that again
we're due another woman of that level though - how long has it been since a GOAT talent emerged on the men's or the women's? nearly 20 years since Serena turned pro, and the most recent, Djokovic debuted in 2003. Feel like a 'Female Fed' should be coming soon...
***** I think Hulk means it's been almost 20 years since Serena emerged. That's a long time. No new player has won 5 or more in their entire careers since Henin and Sharapova... they broke through over a dozen years ago.
et Arantxa.,.,???
Evert/Martina is and will always be number one
One grand slam crowd I don't like is the French open!
Arantxa 🆚 Graf!??? 1989 / 1995 and 1996 !??? Where is it!???
This was nowhere the top 5 moments from the French Open!!!. Chris Evert won it 7 times and this look liked a Steffi Graf appreciation video!!!. Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova met over 80 times to form the greatest rivalry in tennis EVER!!!. So show some RESPECT to these Icons and show some of their classic matches that paved the way and brought women's tennis to the world!!!.
Evert
The Graf-Hingis game should have been #1.
whoa martina bumped with steffi after the handshake with umpire
sure, after blowing the match like that.
Hingis and serena. Just plain whiners
Where is arantxa sanchez vicario?
I would flip/flop 1 & 2, but solid choices overall.
The Evert/Navratilova final was better that Graf/Navratilova for sure ! And Seles/Graf was better than Graf/Hingis....
+Markus RiverRhine
Are you kidding?? It is considered by many as one of the greatest grand slam finals of all time!
No-one seems to have noticed that they just put these finals in chronological order. They should have mentioned that in the accompanying text, though.
she robbed poor Hingis of another slam with her terrible ugly, bullying behaviour -- hounding the umpire to side with her and penalise Martina.
Graf would never beat Hingis on talent or skill, so she had to go to the depths to win that final.
absolutely disgusting behaviour.
"Graf is too old to cope with the fast evolving game". I believe what Steffi did to her in 1999 is called commupence
Adam Larsson steffi never did that to Hingis in that final. Hingis lost it by being a brat and underestimating her opponent.
I've been watching tennis since the early 80s, especially women's, and though these 5 matches aren't the highest level of great tennis (abundance of winners and shot-making), I truly believe Evert-Navratilova 1985 should've been #1 because it had the highest level of on-court drama. Yes, the Graf-Hingis 1999 match had drama, but it was mostly off-court drama, though all of these 5 were memorable in some way.
Hey buddy, maybe you should watch the 1992 Womens Final at the French Open one more time lol. 10-8 in the third and its not exciting?
I couldnt agree more, bravo for comment
I was working at a busy bar during the final which was on the TV, the entire bar, kitchen staff, bartenders....everyone was GLUED to the tv for the last set of 1985. Epic, epic battle. there was so much heart on the court and the bar ERRUPTED when Chris won. Great memory. And this was NOT a tennis watching bar crowd haha! It was magic that day
Seles is the best in history...
Leslie Rosado😅😂😄
Could have been better than Fed if not for the stabbing incident.
Seles won 7 GS in her teens with Graf being present. Serena 1GS in her teens.
Illya Kuryakin How many GS (singles) did Hingis win?
Illya Kuryakin I know those GS stats. 😂
You don't recognize sarcasm, do you?
1000% agree with you Leslie. Without the stabbing, Monica would have beaten all records, and Steffi would not have won so many GS titles, even though she was also an immense champion. People tend to forget that at barely 20 years old, Monica had already won.....8 Grand Slams, that's CRAZY....................................................................
