Interesting readings. I use liquid seaweed powder form 1tsp per gal. to feed my cuttings inside during winter months. What I notice is how green the foliage stays using this.
2 weeks wouldnt be nearly enough time for worm castings. Vermicompost works like a time release fert each time you water it releases more benefits to the soil. I would suggest at least a 1 month period of time for castings.
I would love to see the iodine content comparisons in vegetables grown with Kelp meal inputs Vs no kelp meal as well as with crab meal and without. The problem with nitrogen is that it can fall out of the soil depending on your soil type. So how many nutrients & trace elements actually find their way into the food that is produced in that soil? This is one of the advantages to hydroponics as the nutrients are already in a broken down water soluble format rather than depending on soil microbes to break them down to make them accessible/ available to plants.
@@SoiLab I used it to top dress some plants and watered with rainwater and the explosion of life on the top of the soil looked awesome, it has 3% nitrogen,2% phosphorus and 3% potassium it also contains calcium, magnesium, sulphur, copper, zinc and 450 million colony forming units of beneficial rhizosphere bacteria per gram. I've just started using it but it looks good, plants look really healthy, and I've given to my worms too in the Coco coir. 👍🎃
How long before the macronutrients are available after applying kelp meal? From what I read, it takes up to 3 or 4 months to break down and become useful, is that true??
I think that I would rather NOT use Kelp meal in my gardening plots. It isn't a cheap soil amendment, and it just seems to not be worth it going by the soil test results. High in sodium. But, to each their own. And, Azomite seems to not be worth it either. BUT, that is for MY soil. Other people will need to find out what THEY need.
I would never use it in the gardensoil either. I think it is good as a pottasium source in a soiless medium in a pot however. The pottasium is not shown in the video however it should become availble after longer time in the soil.
I like these videos. But without a plant in the soil this is kind of like putting an additive into fuel and never actually running it in the engine. I don’t think this is as informative as it could be with plants as part of the results.
I have watched a bunch of your tests. Why don't you do long-term updates? If coffee, alfalfa , etc are useless on the short term, why not follow up with long term updates? 2 months? These soil tests don't seem to be useful with these short term tests.
This is sobering. I just dumped this same product to the soil to help increase potassium levels. Only to see that it actually reduces it. o.O Sodium reduces potassium uptake. SOB. 😒

Awesome video!
Super super helpful
Excellent..
Great video as always! 👊🏻
Thank you!
Would love to see one with worm castings.
This would be a great topic for a future video!

how long does it take kelp meal to break down to become useful? 2 weeks? 3 months? 1 year?
@@mrrey8937 this video showed increases in levels after 2 weeks. As time goes on levels will peak and then start to fall.
I use liquid kelp and mix it with fish Emulsion. Plenty of Micronutrients
Thanks for the video
Hope next time its about seabird guano
Thank you and more power❤
I love this series. I can't get enough! What kind of water are you using for the experiments? Distilled? Tap? Filtered?
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it. Deionized water is what we use here in the lab.

I wonder if you could look into cacao hulls
Such an underrated channel. Well done mate
Also would love to see worm castings
Hi have you tried ecothrive charge insect frass? I think it's awesome! Please do a trial 🙏👍
Nick, I have not used that product but this would be a great topic for a future video.

Probably. Because as you see in this short term test it realesed no pottasium. Kelp has a good amount of pottasium in it.

Kelp has arsenic in it

The micro organisms will work to change it and make it available
