Song: Marina & the Diamonds - "Oh No"
This drum fill came up through jamming along to a Marina and the Diamonds song. It starts with a 6 stroke roll then moves into some single strokes and a little fancy footwork. This works great for leading up to a musical pause, or you can extend it into a full 2 bar fill

This guy is the BEST drum teacher I have ever watched. I learned most of my drum fills from him. He also rocks that flat cap.
Haha. Thanks for the support, Bobo!
I agree Bobo Swaggins! and you sir, have a rad youtube handle lol.
Jerry, are you talking to me or KJ?
Np :)
I'm talking you you Bobo Swaggins lol
What happened to this guy? Really a natural teacher. I grew up with a classical teacher that beat reading into my head. And that’s great and all. Side note: I can barely read anymore after a 25 year absence. But I wish I had a guy like this back then that would have just showed me a trick here and there around the kit. Stuff to build off of. Then you link that with reading after they learn the chop. Had it gone down like that, I might not have taken the four years away from drums that I did during high school. Time lost never to be regained. Good teachers are important. Bad teachers suck.
I love that shoulder nod at 6:00
Thanks for the support!
I remember watching this when I first started playing drums!! I loved the fill so much that I practiced it everyday for years, I now can play this fill, and still play it until this day!! Thank you!
4 beat fill starting on the 1. First three beats are 16th note triplets. Last beat is just a snare drum. First beat is Rll rrL. TOM snare snare snare snare SNARE. Second beat is Rlr lrl. SNARE hitom lowtom lowtom lowtom lowtom. Third beat is Krl kkr. Kick lowtom hh kick kick lowtom. Last beat is just a snare.
(last beat is also 16th note triplets)
when I don't see notes it's tricky to get it. Thanks man for clarifiation
I'm a beginner drummer and I would have to say that I find your lesson's informative and engaging. I appreciate the fact that you are able to simplify complex fills by breaking it into small digestible bite size steps - excellent teacher. Thank you KJ.
I am gonna be honest brother KJ... YOU TAUGHT me the PROPER way to play a 6 stroke roll... I learned it wrong from a fellow drummer 20 some years ago and I have been doing the accents wrong this ENTIRE Time... THANK YOU man... you have fixed a LONG standing problem I have had. with your video.... I am buying your kick package cause your fills are sick LOVE your videos. You go into Detail where most drum instructors ASSUME knowledge.. IT IS MOST appreciated!!
Love your playing KJ!

Awesome stuff KJ, I'm so glad I just stumbles upon you site/channel, whatever. So I subscribed right quick and I'll be watching and listening for more good stuff from you. You are a freakin sick drummer man, I love your fills, etc. Hope I can learn a few of them. I have been looking for some real good song ender fills. Fills that end the song so to speak. Whenever I say song ender, no one seems to know what I'm talking about, so I say, "you know, the big Los Vegas ending", Now I know you can't put that type of ending on every song, but I'd just like to learn maybe 3 or 4 real good song enders, so people will say, "hey man, did you see what he just did to end that song, man that was sick". God Bless my friend, stay loose and happy drumming.
Thanks Cal! I know what you mean about the "song enders"...AKA Head-Turners, AKA fills that get you that "Whoa, what was that?" reaction. Haha. Plenty more on the way so stay tuned. Thanks again for the kind words and support.
Dude!! Love it... im gonna practice that... thanks... :-)
Good video!

Legal.,muito bom parabéns.
I 💯 am using this! KJ, are those PDP CX’s? Sneaky good sound! Well done!
Great Lesson KJ! Can you provide your kit & head profile? They sound amazing!!! Thanks
Can you do a full cover of this song, I think it really suits your style.
Thanks for share
Lol, he shrugs after the fill each time. xD
just a quick note. Make sure to do your 6 stroke roll triplet based instead of 16th note based. For the longest time I did mine that way and it never sounded right until I changed it up
Hey awesome video! Just one question. Are those all 16th notes or are there 16th note tripplets involved as well? (Especially when going down the toms) cause for some reason i'm not able to land it on the 4. Thanks!
Have you made a full cover of this song? Sounds great!
Just the drum fill section on this one :)
