- Hey everyone! I'm coming back with another acoustic guitar review, this time we're looking at an extremely unique axe, the Framus Texan! If you're looking for a killer blues and country songwriting guitar, this is will perfect for you!

Body Shape: Dreadnought
Top: Solid Spruce
Back: Laminated Arched Maple
Sides: Solid Maple
Neck: "Maple Plywood" (25.4 inch scale)
Fingerboard: Rosewood with mother-of-pearl dot inlay
Bridge: Rosewood
Nut: Metal (1.57 inches)
Saddle: Plastic
Bridge Pins: None, pull-through bridge design.
Tuners: Open Gear 3 On a Plate (replaced mine with Der Jung DJ526)
Electronics: N/A
Made in: Germany
Thanks Brian. I have an original mid-60s sunburst one, othewise same as yours - with a back headstock. Saved all my UK money then. Still on my wall. They were more affordable than American guitars. Loved it. I had always assumed it was all laminate.

Just bought a 5/196. Mahogany though. There’s one picture on the framus vintage website. Never sold online. Have it getting set up, gonna play it and may sell it. Not the best sound but by god it’s so unique and cool.

My 12 string Texan WILL allow some neck bend at body if tuned at E. I keep it tuned to D and it is good. Crap sound acoustic but I installed a pickup in sound hole and that sounds good. 1 of six 12s I presently own.
They definitely have alot of personality! I haven't played the 12 string version but I could imagine it does put considerably more strain on the neck than this 6 string does.
What strings are you using?
