Ya gotta respect Brok’s straight to the point attitude.
Fantasy Dwarves in a nutshell. Gruff, taciturn, and stubborn....but once you earn their trust and friendship you couldn't possibly ask for more loyal or stalwart allies.
A great example of this would be Bruenor Battlehammer from the Drizzt novels. He's initially stubborn and close-minded about Drizzt, but once Bruenor finally realizes that Drizzt truly doesn't mean anyone any harm, Bruenor becomes such close friends with Drizzt that he'd happily see him marry his adopted daughter Catti-brie (thus causing Drizzt to become his son-in-law), and Bruenor would willingly lay down his life for Drizzt in a heartbeat (and he also very quickly becomes furious whenever Drizzt is a victim of prejudice, to the point that Bruenor is willing to get into a fight to defend Drizzt's honor and character), even with Bruenor being a Dwarf *KING* of all things. Drizzt even comes to find Bruenor's stubbornness and bluster to be amusing, while also having great respect for Bruenor's prowess as a warrior, with Drizzt remarking more than once that Bruenor is "as solid as the stone he mines".
He speaks plain.

It's why everyone loves him. Doesn't take shit from anyone, cares nothing for decorum (even when speaking to literal gods), speaks his mind, and is able to cut through the noise to see who a person truly is. He has a keen understanding of people and serves as a grounding influence on those around him.

This is so well acted. The inflection in Freyr's voice when he says "abandon you?" and you can hear he's about to crack just got me. Phenomenal
I still don't get what really happened between them....... something about Freyr not liking Odin or whatever also why'd she marry him in the first place?

@@ArcticWolf0000 she married Odin in hopes that it would end the war between the Aesir and the Vanir. As for Freyr and Freya's falling out, I think that Freyr saw Freya's marriage to Odin as a betrayel, making him say "those awful last words" to her. When Odin betrayed the truce and he didn't come to save her, Freya was hurt as well, creating a rift between them.
@@alpacachino3647 I guess it's a little more understandable since she was trying to end a war but she should try to understand why he was upset.
@@ArcticWolf0000 It was in the desperation to avoid more and more deaths due to the war, altough it was silly to think that the conflicts between the Aesir and Vanir would end, the Aesir were far too violent and too proud

Freyr and Sindri are one of the most humours and charismatic characters I have ever seen

They put so much effort and emotion into this that it almost seems as if all of this is real. Hat's off to them.
'Member they're not just VA's. They did the mocap, so all the gestures, body language, facial expressions, are all authentic to the lines.
Forreal. Between the vocal performances and body language, they legit felt like siblings.
Not a lot of people catch this but kratos sympathizes with freyr because freyr is to kratos what freya is to Deimos. Freya was imprisoned and hoped that her brother would come save him similar to how Deimos held on to the hope that his big brother would come to save him from hell. But kratos didn’t know he was alive just like Freyr and eventually Deimos lost hope which poisoned his mind against Kratos. This is what led to him to try to convince freya to talk to her brother
that's literally not how you say it. freyr is to freya what kratos is to deimos. stupid.
Kratos actually mentions this to Freya during this very conversation while the two are en route to find and destroy the branches binding Freya to Midgard. He tries to tell Kratos how much he just wanted to love Deimos despite everything that had happened between them, but this just upsets Freya even more to the point that she snaps at Kratos and tells him to just shut up and fight.

I think when Freyr mentions his regret that his selfishness caused him to hurt the one he cared for most, I could see in Freya's face the recognition that that was what she did to Baldur.

I remember first seeing Brett Dalton play Grant Ward in Agents of SHIELD over 10 years ago. It’s so good to see his portrayal of Freyr, such a fantastic job

It's funny how most of Freyr partisans aren't Vanir. I guess the Jotuns weren't the only ones to be slaughtered.
I feel like the main reason Freyr hasn't stopped the resistance against Asgard is the guilt he felt for his falling out with Freya. Maybe it was his way of atonement, his method of honoring her memory when he thought she was dead.
Birgir and Brok giving them space while everybody else is gathering around in a circle to stare at them having a moment. Heck, why?! 😂

Freyas story is so heartbreaking she’s been through so much her and Kratos can relate to all the pain and suffering I think that’s why she forgave him

It's more complex than that. When you marry to broker a peace a bunch of things become verboten. Could the Vanir win a war against the Aesir? Because that's what it would take.

They knew Brok would be Missed the most. He was so genuine and care free, brutally honest. And smarter than anyone else too see how "Tyr" was being suspicious. Mimir even agreed, he was blind to Odins disguise. After spending decades as his advisor

That's Judge's normal voice. Sometimes he appears to forget to strain himself to death trying to deepen his voice to appear more manly for Kratos, and it ironically ends up being his best work every time he just talks normally. His voice is deep enough. When he starts trying to make it so much deeper, it just removes all emotion and makes it cringe. You can hear him struggling when he says "When the moment calls for calm" to Thor for example. It just takes away from the scene. Nobody talks like that.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Not to mention that he sounded downright robotic in that "Return my son, or you may meet the god I once was." He was literally burping all the way through. A complete 180 from the much louder, more expressive TC Carson Kratos. When Judge does scream, it's downright hilarious. This is why I think Ryan Hurst did such a good job at Thor, he naturally has an intimidating voice and didn't need to put in much effort.

You gotta love Brok's blend of blunt and tact. He tells it like he sees it. And while you may not like how he puts it, you can still respect it. I wish my blunt brother-in-law had at least half of his tact.
This game really does have some touching moments 😃😎.
That jazzy intro gets me every time. It's like "go ahead, get comfy...you KNOW you're about to watch 3 hours of GoW clips wishing you could play it."

Well to be honest old fashioned viking garb shared a lot of similarities with other old cultures around the world. Lots of furs, braided hair, war paints and feathers most humans seems to share those things.

They were dealing with Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods. Plus, given that there's stuff like Atreus being Loki they of course have to rush some things.

Plus, another issue could be the design of the Norse divinities; from the gods and goddess looking too messy to the point of passing too much as humans (personally, how is it that the actress of Freya looks more beautiful than the 3d rendering), to Asgard not being as grand as how they were described in the Norse Sagas.
Apparently Barlog and a few others didn't feel like spending another four to five years on another game so they rushed shit and made what was intended to be a trilogy a two game series. Sad.
