  • @JETZcorp
    @JETZcorp Před 11 měsíci +35

    Another advantage of the new intake setup, the headlight intake is no longer trying to pressurize the engine bay. You want air coming into.the engine bay across the radiator. When you bring it in from somewhere else, it's going to decrease flow across the radiator and make the cooling system work less efficiently. That was offset somewhat by the engine sucking up some of the hot air from the radiator, but that's obviously not ideal, plus that stops working while braking. With the new setup, the hood gets air only through the radiator, maximizing cooling flow.

    • @Gigges85
      @Gigges85 Před 11 měsíci +1

      This and also you'll get problems when it's raining. We did run a Ram-Air intake on our 318ti Cup cars and switched back to the original location of these two reasons. We had to clean/change air filters after almost every session because of track dirt and when it was heavy raining the air filter did get soaking wet.

    I really like the idea of "mitigating" horsepower through a slightly more restrictive intake. Seems like the rally style of running a restrictor plate. A hole of x diameter can only flow so much air, but allows you to keep the afr targets more ideal.

    You guys are great fabricators. Blown-up engines notwithstanding 😉😂
    You experimented with intakes to gain 10hp and then de-tuned the fuel ratio and timing to lose 30hp??? 🫣🤷‍♂️
    Isn’t there some kind of hood ram air scoop? Probably no room in the engine bay. I guess it would also increase drag.
    One would think it would be useful to have the air inlet a larger diameter than the pipe so you get a Venturi effect and ram more air in.
    I hope you put thread lock on those valve cover bolts. I’m just picturing a wee bolt vibrating loose and wreaking havoc with the valve train or trashing the camshafts.

    Honda racecars should have red valve covers. It's pretty easy to get a fisheye rearview camera with a display mounted ergonomically in the cockpit, could also probably double as cameras for your purpose but ours aren't set to record. The display is nice to have on rearview, even just the peripheral vision and knowing there's a car alongside you has helped me many times endurance racing.

    Same effect as those clamps have, you can accomplish with 50 cents of zipties, just wrap them around frame when belt is in a right location. In the crash the belt wont go anywhere, if it was at the right position when tightening. But without clamping when you tighten your belt you could tighten in not enought, because the belt is in wrong position.

    Not sure if getting rid of the velocity stack is the way to go, the sharp edge at the headlight might cause more restriction than you gain back by the ram air effect. Also not quite getting the explanation, you are getting less air in and also planning to run leaner at the same time? Wouldn't it make more sense to just detune the engine by ignition angle instead?
    You also might want to try a front 3-point strut bar if you haven't yet, made a noticeable difference on my DC2 even with street suspension.

    Hey guys! Great video, as always. I had one question regarding the Advance discount code. Can it be applied when you buy something in-store? I had to buy something today and they told me that it was not possible to apply it. Does it work only in online orders?
    Thank you and keep it up!!

    what happens with air flow if your behind a car and not able to get any "clean" air??? Will that make much difference?

      Driving in dirty airflow will result in reduced downforce as compared to when you're driving in clean airflow.

    Always nice when a CZcamsr comes in a class with an almost limitless budget and goes after amateurs.

      I'm definitely the underdog in this class. It's one of the most competitive amateur racing leagues in the country, I'm just trying to keep up.
