I managed to make friends with a random who's master ranked Dazs. Legit everything you said he has been grilling me for and yeah I'm a controller player. Great vid man always helps looking from you POV 👍
Positioning was and is one of my flaws but this video actually is mind opening... But I feel like low confidence is another flaw I have when playing. I tend to hesitate a lot when making decisions, and for some reason, I tend to think of what my Randoms think of whenever I make a play. This results in worst gameplay compared to when I'm vibing and having a laugh!
Since this is a kinda new video I'm just going to say I have decent positioning and somewhat above average aim but I just raged quit off apex after my team was filled with idiots three times in a row keeping me from plat 3
I'm really glad that some love is going out to console players. A lot of people who "help" are always more focused to controller pc and not console itself so it means alot that you made a video for us console players. This video will definitely help me out in terms of finding those sneaky spots and using angles to my advantage.
This 9 minute video made me realized how positioning is very necessary to get better as a player and continue to improve which fights to take. Much thanks Dazs!
@@sicktekniquez3162 I agree. When I play pc with the same input controls I do so much better for some reason even with the lower aim-assist. All my shots hit where they're supposed to. On console I miss half my shots even though I'm aiming perfectly.
I recognised that i was getting beamed while peeking in pc lobbies with my friends when i couldn't even see the enemies, but after playing in them lobbies for a while i think i've gotten better at it, still there were things in this video that were helpful! Cheers!
Random Fact: Bullets in apex legends comes out of your head(Crosshair). That's why head glitches are powerful. Although your gun is covered by an object, so long as you can aim your crosshair at an enemy, you will be able to hit them. The muzzle flash and effects are just for show/immersion. (This is the concept of the "Head Glitch")
switching to pc from console makes you realize this so quickly i remember the first month on pc, i was getting beamed from all distances and was confused until i learnt minimizing hitboxes. Also made me more aware about pieces of cover near me during close engagements w shotguns/wingman subconsciously over time nice video dazs.
I'm really glad someone is trying to help the console players out there. I play on console (Nintendo switch) and I've recently started trying to get better at positioning and taking different advantages because I'm trying to start running solo duos. This video really helped me realize that even tho you may have only a little bit of space and or cover, you can make it work
Very helpful and actually something I do put into practice. Someone once told me shoot from 60% cover. I really appreciate your videos, keep up the great work. The problem is approaching gunfights and being caught in rotation. Also, simply landing and immediate gunfights. I solo queue a lot and run into so many players that want Estates/Fight Night, East Frag, and Antenna. Most the times i find myself looking for a gun while teammates just start punching and we're all sent back to lobby.
This was super helpful. After watching this I jumped immediately into a game and noticed I was paying way more attention to my angles ,where I could abuse cover, and peaking. I also tried using a triple take for most of the game which I usually never use a peaking type of weapon.
I need like 100 more videos on LOS and positioning. Apex is my first FPS and I absolutely love the game. However, I realize that as I begin to get in higher lobbies, I am so lost as to angles and multi-level buildings. Your video was so helpful. Please make more. 🤞
I’ve already been improving my positioning a bit. After watching your videos (and ALGS) I’ve realized you can make cover out of a rock, a box, heck- even a slope of what looked like flat, open space. I still swing too wide when I’m ready to shoot though.
When you said and showed what a peak looks like which basically reminded me of a quickscope compared to when you wide swing and are essentially staring them down; it made the light bulb in my head go off. Thank you for sharing and teaching it in a way that was understandable
I’ve started paying more attention to my positioning and cover this season. My win % went from around 4% to just above 6%. Furthermore, my damage output per game has gone from around 250 avg. to closer to 500 just by paying more attention to my positioning. I have way more games now where I’m doing 1200+ damage without using a sniper. I used to have to use a sniper to get upwards of 1k. My KD is slowly climbing towards 1.0 now because of it (was .70 at beginning of season 13). Still have a long way to go, but I’ve certainly noticed a big difference in my output since applying some of the tips you’ve talked about.
I'm still relatively new to apex, "What do I need to improve on?" Everything. But I've been really liking your mindset going into games and improving, realizing that you're not going to win every game and that's alright, though you could always get better than you were before. Keep it up. 👍
The thing that i do since i start to see ur vids is trying always when i start a fight be behind a cover and trying always to know what's happening or where the other team is thx dazs❤️
Playing Rainbow Six Siege before moving to Apex definitely thought me the importance of positioning. R6 especially thought me how to get creative with angles and peeking positions just to find a better position. Great vid since I often see my randoms wide swinging even if they are at a massive disadvantage position-wise.
I’ve been focusing on positioning more and more lately. I’ve still got a ways to go. But I play Valorant and CSGO, and quite a few other games where positioning is very important. I know it’s less important on a lot of other games I play and so I don’t focus on them much right now. Anyway I’ve got a pretty good handle on my aiming and movement in Apex. I play on PS5 and also on PC. So I have experience with KBnM and also Controller on both. I prefer controller but that’s what I’ve been on for a very long time. I’ve been gaming since the Super Nintendo I got when I was like 9 years old and I’m 36 now and don’t care if people think I’m old. I love playing Apex with my nieces and nephews when I’m not working. And it’s been so much fun helping them improve to the point that now they’ve all surpassed me. Thanks to them being attentive and also having much more time to play and improve. This was very helpful to remind me and also alert me to things I’ve been missing in trying to improve. If you think you know it all you’ll never look for ways to improve. So I always think of myself as a player who needs improvement. That way I can always find new ways to implement better strategies into my game. I’d say right now I’m about average to slightly above average at the skill level for Apex. And this video is still very helpful.
I feel like as a controller player myself I agree that my positioning is very basic as I think I just focus on aim and movement especially since I have aim assist I just focus on killing the opponent rather than thinking of if they can easily kill me because I'm in a bad area where I'm really exposed and they have an insane head glitch so this video really made me aware of my mistake and I'll definitely try to do that exercise a lot from now on, ty so much dazs have a great day

Thanks for the vid. I feel I get how to use positioning in fights but my friends play very aggro so no time to actually use it in game. With randoms it’s a bit better ironically. I just lead and they ask no questions until they get too happy and ape someone early

@@Dazs I actually play in PC lobbies very often because one of my friends is on PC, Platinum PC ranked is very tough for us and console is a tiny bit easier. We find the aim is more accurate in PC lobbies, headglitching is more prevalent and people just seem to know how to position and really take angles on you. We have success on PC regularly in Gold (S13) lobbies so we know that as console/controller players we can beat out people with double the FPS but I guess it just comes with time, we are only D4s going up against mainly masters. Really enjoy your spectating Platinum lobbies series I watch them all. ❤️🙏🏿
This is by far the difference between me and my friend. I had arguably better recoil control but he had better game sense and positioning this allowed him to win more fights. You could have all the tools to win the movement the aim/recoil control but the execution is what matters when and where to use the tools is more important than having all the tools
I have good game sense and awareness when it comes to loot environments and rotations my problem comes from not knowing when to look for a fight when to join a fight when to back out of a fight that’s my issue
Being a 100% console player I can definitely acknowledge this is a big thing most miss, but it all comes down to how much time you invest in the game to get better, as with PC players you would find far more hardcore/ dedicated players.
Hi Dazs. I had a question and other people can answer aswell. On controller what binds are the most important to be able to use the quickest and easiest in your opinion. From shielding/healing, ping, throwables, interacting or swapping weapons. I am trying to find the best possible controller binds. Thanks for your coaching content and teachings.
My aim is pretty good. My game sense is great. My positioning in general is bad. I get tunnel vision. Mainly though I don't usually know how to capitalize on all the information I get through my game sense because I don't know what positions would be good to start the fight.
I dont know if it's positioning but i always find myself yelling at random for us to run and reset because we don't know where the other team are and there's multiple exits e can get pushed. people never know when to fight and when to run and reset.
Ive actually watched this on your live . First thing first :ive watched tons of ur videos and vods streams and i can say ive improved drastically so thank you . Now about positioning, yes console players do tend to challange in open with full body size uncovered by an angle and i do think its because of CoD gamin background. I myself did this mistake and i usually still do this mistake because its so natural especially if cod is ur background. I fortunally playd cs go back in the days so this positioning is kinda the same concept of cs . This mirage clone thing is very usefull to understand how much of ur body you show up in varius situations and then it becomes just muscle memory. Thank you for your continous efforts and great content. Ps Dude i would dedicate a special dish on work if i can get coached 1 time by you for how much i want to keep learning from you :D Cheers
Man I wish you played controller so you could do a guide on how to improve your aim 😭 I have a hand injury so I have to play on controller right now on PC
Very smart. I play console exclusively and have been struggling since the beginning understanding this. Feel like I hit a wall. I will try this in my next games and see if it helps me not spend as much time healing and more time knowing where enemies are. I wide peek way too often by not even realizing I am pushing my stick that far and then move forward so when I try to duck behind cover to reload or heal I hit the cover.
I think for me it’s pretty much the opposite. I was a Level 1 Challenger in CoD Vanguard and just switch to apex in the second half of season 12. I am now pretty much hard stuck in Diamond 4/3. I am paying really close attention to play early beacons, loot fast, play way slower then in cod and try to focus on getting a place to setup for the end fight. I just feel like I do certain “cod aim type things” were I slide cancel or jump shoot instead of focus on just tracking. I also find it pretty hard to implement wall jumps, super glides and all these movements. Also the 60hz really suck on ps5.
I use controller on pc since i grew up with a console and barely got a gaming pc. I honestly expected that you were going over tips of using controllers because controller players are definitely at a disadvantage
I hope this guide helps get the building blocks going for better positioning and understanding hitbox size! Especially if you are on console! :)

I fortunally playd cs go back in the days so this positioning is kinda the same concept of cs . This mirage clone thing is very usefull to understand how much of ur body you show up in varius situations and then it becomes just muscle memory. Thank you for your continous efforts and great content.
Ps
Dude i would dedicate a special dish on work if i can get coached 1 time by you for how much i want to keep learning from you :D
Cheers
Man I wish you played controller so you could do a guide on how to improve your aim 😭 I have a hand injury so I have to play on controller right now on PC
Very smart. I play console exclusively and have been struggling since the beginning understanding this. Feel like I hit a wall. I will try this in my next games and see if it helps me not spend as much time healing and more time knowing where enemies are. I wide peek way too often by not even realizing I am pushing my stick that far and then move forward so when I try to duck behind cover to reload or heal I hit the cover.
Playing Crypto has helped me alot with positioning and game sense. Also droning helps me not go all ape mode.
I got good movement and aim but suck at positioning to not get killed when I get a nock
FINALLY! Some one realised using mirage to practice tracking and awareness is boss tier
I got great aim but I lack movement and positioning
I use controller on pc since i grew up with a console and barely got a gaming pc. I honestly expected that you were going over tips of using controllers because controller players are definitely at a disadvantage
