Xiaomi Turbo Charge, Fast Charging Secrets Revealed! What Cables Enable Rapid Charging?

    The redmi note 10 pro, poco f3, and poco x3 pro all use the same charging tech. This is one of the reasons i dislike the poco f3 since its fast charging tech is 2 years old its not flagship grade at all. That said the same fast charging on xiaomi's mid range redmi note 10 pro is totally acceptable for phone of it's price. But after examining xiaomi's turbo charge fast charging I have more questions than answers regarding what xiaomi calls "fast charging" and what xiaomi considers turbocharge. I was able to get xiaomi's turbo charge, rapid charging animation but it's not the same. Sometimes the xiaomi turbo charge animation logo shows the decimal points of the charge percentage, sometimes it doesnt. Now I have more questions than answers but at least now we know what cables activate fast charging and which cables don't

    Ok, so I have Xiaomi 11T. It supports 67W charging and it comes with the charger in the box. What I have notices is that if I use the original charger with the stock cable, the charging animation says "Charging Rapidly 67W Max". The cable itself is labeled "6A'.
    Now, I decided to buy another 3rd party 6A cable, and used it with the original 67W brick, the charging animation changed to "Turbo Charging" and I did notice significant increase in charging time.
    Then, I used another 5A cable, again 3rd party, and the charging then said "Quick Charging"; though this time, I did not notice significant increase in charging times (but yeah, I did notice).
    In the end, I used a normal $1 cable from Ali Express and then animation only said "Charging". Now, in all of these tests, same original 67W charger was used.
    My Conclusion: Different animations indeed mean different charging speeds and no matter what you do, the highest speed can only be attained by using stock proprietary Xiaomi Charging Brick AND stock Xiaomi cable. All other cables will not work as the Xiaomi one will even if the other cables support higher charging speeds too. Same is the case for Xiaomi 11T Pro (120W charging).

      I used the 33 watt xiaomi charger with 3 different cables
      The original charges with 3 to 4 amp
      Another 2 cables charges with 3-3.5 amp so the charging time is affected by the current not the charging protocols that takes much voltages with the same current ..

      i would like to add to this. i have the xiaomi note 11. same thing i notice about the cable is only the xiaomi factory cable can activate the turbo charging with the animation which gives me about 6amps of charge. weirdly i used a huawei 65watt notebook charging brick usb c connector, it shows quick charging but i still get 6amps of charging. i dont know the volts thou.

  • @jingarjay8754
    @jingarjay8754 Před 2 lety +39

    Actually, if you look into the Xiaomi 33w charger and it's accompanying cable, you will see an a connector that looks like USB 3 except that there is only a single pin/contact in the middle. That is Xiaomi Mi turbo charge's secret. That pin corresponds to the CC pin in the USB-C connector. That is why most cables that isn't from Xiaomi/Zmi/Baseus does not trigger 33w charging (btw the decimal point means it's charging in 33w). The only cables I've ran across that even supports Mi turbo charge is only Xiaomi original cable and Zmi 6A cables. I have no idea why are they still using this "hacked" method of achieving USB PD, but if they were to sell and adapter that converts the "hacked" USB A port to a standard USB-C port. Then we wouldn't have all this trouble.

    This cable is "fatter" it is probably 5A , like original huawei cables for fast charging, if you buy cheap cable in the gas station it will be like 2.4A or 3.0A.. If you have 27w charger, the thicker cable can not bring" ampers" to the cell ( battery) charging proces will be longer 50-100%, so you need original cable 5A to get that speed charging. If you have good charger and weaker cable you want get the best results.Good charger + 5A cable ( not longer then 1m) =best results.

    I've been using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro for about 2 years now. Something that I've noticed is that when I use Xiaomis Turbo Charge (original charger + original cable) it seemingly charges fast but also the battery seems to drain pretty fast. Suppose I charge to 80% in just a few minutes of casual texting the percentage drops by 5-6%. Whereas when I charge it on Quick Charge mode (original charger + 3rd party cable) it myt not charge as fast, but if I charge to 80% it takes quite some time to drop 5-6% as it should. I doubt it they're faking the Turbo Charge by displaying a higher percentage whereas the phone doesn't really charge upto that percentage, & then drop the percentage rapidly in a few minutes to match the actual percentage of charge on the battery. Btw this isn't a one off observation, I've seen this behavior consistently.

    • @MitchellMillennial
      @MitchellMillennial  Před 2 lety +3

      Actually, phone manufactures lie about the percentage the device is charged all the time. They do this to maintain battery health. Xiaomi knows that having t heir devices at 100% charge for a prolonged period of time isn't good for the battery chemistry. This has been kind of a well known secret for a while because apple does it. For sure your phone isn't telling you the actual battery percentage

However, I haven't tried it myself to confirm the accuracy of his statement. Hope this information help you out, though. If you happen to try it, let me know how it goes, too.
