Lapat Festival of Apayao - Cordillera Festival of Festivals 2023

Presentation of Apayao's Lapat Festival during the Cordillera Festival of Festivals 2023 on November 11, 2023 at the Rose Garden, Burnham Park, Baguio City
The Lapat system is one of the oldest practices of the yApayaos in honoring their departed loved ones. When the Lapat is lifted, the family holds a Say-am or a feast.
The Lapat system has greatly contributed to the preservation of the Province of Apayao's virgin forest thereby maintaining its breathtaking landscape,.
Additionally, the Lapat system of the Isnag people where the festival was derived from, is credited for increasing the population of the critically-endangered Philippine Eagle.
