Great review, Vader looks incredible! I just realized while watching the review that Anakin's general Skywalker costume from the clone wars is shaped like exactly the same as the Vader costume with the robes and the armor it's pretty seamless, really genius on the designers. And I never use the light up effects for the saber they're not strong enough.

The problem with a white light on red plastic is that it will come across as pink or if the white bulb is a bluish white, purplish pink.
Not if the blade is redder

That diorama base clinched it for me. I am not so keen-eyed, so any Vader is good for me. Interestingly, I only now realize that his shoulder armor really reminds me of the Clone Wars armor in the upcoming Anakin

ESB Darth Vader is my favorite version. As you said, the costume looked better put together and personally I always liked how shinier it was compared to the original film's suit.
Only downside to the mask, though, seems to be they didn't replicate the very dark amber lenses . They just seem to be pure black, which wasn't really a thing until Revenge of the Sith.
Also, I get your comment about the blade color but depending on who you ask and which version of the film you watch, Vader's lightsaber blade was never really A full red; it was more of a crimson, OR pinkish red. Just throwing that out there. Maybe Hot Toys was trying to replicate that here?

I'm quite pleased that this is a straight reissue as I missed out on the first release. The nostalgic box is just icing on the cake. 👍
As it turns out I do use the light up arm on Jedi Luke. I wanted to use the non light up lightsaber for Crait Luke. But for the most part, I don't use them, or most light up features in all fairness. I mostly use the Death Star walls lights in photos, once in a while.
I'd like to see Revenge of the Sith Darth Vader in armour. As for The Return of the Jedi version, I'm still very pleased with Sideshow's Deluxe figure, currently trading blows with Jedi Luke as it were.

Got Hot Toys Vader today I'm more than impressed, love the battery puzzle it comes with. I've got to learn how to do a lightsaber in Blender now.

Got it yesterday. Great figure. He’s a lot more sleek looking than I expected, which I rather like. I do worry about creasing; I have the right hand stretched out holding the lightsaber so not worried about that one. The other is for that pose where he’s pleading for Luke to join him. That’s the one I worry about. But I refuse to just pose him with arms hanging down.

Hey Justin I wanted to comment on ur thoughts about the use of red light instead of white. The reason is, the blade piece being already sort of washed out and slight pinkish color, giving it a white light would make the blade completely pink and wouldn’t look as good or accurate. Anyways great vid😜
Then make the blade more red, problem resolved 😛

That is a beautiful piece Justin. I love the retro look. I can see myself getting one and placing it beside my Reissue Tie Fighter from the 1997 Re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy. This one is amazing, still I think the 1/4 feels so much like a real man in a suit and the paint application on the armor blows my mind. Do you think these suits will flake Justin? I’d love your insight on that, I’ve heard the HT Vader’s haven’t shown problems yet, do you pose yours?

Personally, I love the light-up arm for my luke 1/6th scale figure, and would actually opt out of buying a lightsaber-wielding character who didn't come with a light-up arm.
I think they should just stick to a bright white LED and let the color come from the color of the blade itself

It is inevitable that pleather will degrade eventually no matter how well you try to preserve it...It happened even with the old kenner figures even one I kept in box for years and never removed...but it isn't the end of the figure...I removed cleaned off the rotting pleather from my kenner figure and it still looks great without it despite no shine...but at least I don't have to worry about rot anymore.

Nice review. I will say that Vader's lightsaber isn't a true red though and does have a pinkish vibe. I really want to add this to my collection, but I think I would cry if the pleather started to deteriorate, haha 🤷♂️

I own the 1st version of this Hot Toys figure, I had lots of difficulty unscrewing to get to the electronics & also inserting his right arm never seemed to fit. Still beautiful though.
You would think they would fix the helmet situation at re-release. I watched reviews before buying & was warned it falls off easily, I was super careful & it still ends up hitting the ground multiple times lol; luckily it's soft carpet. Hope I'll be more satisfied with my 2nd figure of Jango Fett as it's still in the mail & has no electronics.
It's a direct re-release they didn't really change anything
@@JustinsCollection I have the worst luck in the world, I just got my Jango today and slipped trying to insert one of his hands and jammed my finger into his gauntlet. 2 of the spikes broke off his gauntlet. Took out a chunk of my finger. Wish I was joking but Hot Toys just ain't for me. Bad experiences every time.

Compared to the takin Vader 3 pack Vader and this one. What are the main differences other than the removable helmet viewable back of head? As far as the outfit, cape boots and gloves. Are there any differences?
