Idk how, BUT this channel needs to start putting the content on the BIG screen. Alter has content far better than some of the full length movies.

@CTB
Great idea & idk who would narrate it either. James Earl Jones, Anthony Hopkins, or Jack Nicholson would be 3 fantastic options IMO.
These guys and DUST. Two of the best, with the CG Brothers right behind that. Almost passed this up, very glad I didn't.
@@richardbidinger2577
Is Dust & the other here on CZcams? If so, I'll have to check them out.
It feels for me, that this guy does not exist. It is just her mind. Her guilt of killing people is haunting her. And this house is actually her house. That is why she has a key to it and knows where to go. Only your mind itself knows your past. And if you start to remember forgotten things, it is just like that; first just normal things but later it adds more detail.

I like how she mentions "atypical suicide" and she herself shows a predisposition with atypical depression. "Smiling depression"
Nikki Cedrone I have atypical depression. I’m not “deeply sad” and I haven’t been suicidal in years, but I do have a lack of energy, motivation, sleep problems, and other things like that. Ahedonia (sp?) is the worst.
Wow I’m even learning here ! I didn’t know about atypical depression. Thanks for sharing , I’ll google more about it. Hope you have a good life .
@@nowellahhh These things aren't so easy to put into boxes peoples minds/experiences are so different ,and how they respond to stimuli, circumstances, people are too ready to give others labels.
david smith dude it is a diagnosis that I’ve been given; I’m not diagnosing anyone else (not that type of person). I’m not sure what you are trying to tell me. Completely aware of the fact that mental health is experienced differently by everyone and also how difficult it is to explain, especially if you’re talking to people who don’t want to understand or learn. :/

Just be scarier than whatever is scaring you
You know, this may sound funny, but it's actually true. This is what I do when stray dogs come at me 🤣
Reminds me of a meme, when you hear weird noises at night make sure you produce a louder and weirder noise to assert your dominance.

Sounds like the plot of a movie to me. 👍

Why can’t horror movies be good like this?
This is why we can’t have nice things.
As I understood for now this channel is for the new ideas in horror...giving for now unknown talents a voice ehhm a screen to persuade us into trusting them. If that is true i don´t want to see horror films in 20 yrs to come HONEST...they will become too scary for my feeble heart ;) (btw : Incidious 1 was the first horror film that REALLY scared me....after about 200+ other so called ones watched for "Entertainment" )
10 minutes is not 90 minutes. Try making a full length film from this short. You'll need to add story, characters, situations... It's not the same content you put in a full length film than in a short one. And there are great full length horror films btw, my favorite one is JU-ON: THE GRUDGE (2002). But I agree most of them suck.
maybe a little unstable my english view on this because I´m not english...but as said: this film packed more horror into 10 mins than most other films in 90+ minutes...I celebrate that :)
We won't ever get any good movies from Hollywood because Hollywood is so cliche. That's why the independent films are doing so well because they don't have to follow Hollywood's old dumb boring mold
Well said...nuff said :D
While I was watching this it dawned on me that this is free CZcams content. HOW!? This is an amazing film! What more can anyone want from a film?? Superb!

"Alter" is a channel that independent film makers use to show their work. A lot of these videos are film school projects. The youtube channel "Dust" is to sci-fi what "Alter" is to horror.
Fantastic! In my interpretation it is all about her going mad and committing suicide. Her mom had committed suicide as well so she became a psychiatrist to cure suicidal people, however it only added to her own suicidal tendency. Everything is shown from her already depressed and altered perspective. The guy symbolizes suicide itself.... How it grows day by day....... The inevitability of fate..... So deeply sad.....A real piece of art this short.
nicely surmised!

Preston Hurst a they actually do sell there stories to independent filmmakers, that’s why in some newer movies it may seem as if you seen the plots before ( the shorts come out first and then they sell it and it gets turned into a bigger movie)

I get it.. the man was like her own depression, he keeps on reminding her everything she’s afraid of.. it’s like her brain talking to herself that she needed help
That was brilliant! The fact that he knew about the suicides is very compelling... He knew about the patient, her mother, her. The chrome.. That he uses how he's so vigilant with the art work... His artwork is very unique. It's very black and white. He can remember the place is everything was how he knew about everything is very compelling and scarce? He had a mind of his own that he knew everything everything. I was driving the doctor mad...

so, whatever he draws by adding COLOR (being that specific color red, color of blood) may lead to future events? Does he have the power to change reality through his art, making him afraid to use certain colours thst might be a trigger to negative events and so making him think that a neutral colored scenery will be safe?
Well, the noose was grey and a suicide was the result.
@@enrique8190 yeah true, I thought about that too, the doctor hung herself and there was not any usage of colors...
And if he is afraid of color why does he still use them, knowing that something bad will result.
@@anaislekapene752 after looking back at the clip, I'm wondering if it wasn't the fact that a noose was in the drawing but that there was blood colored on the mirror. Maybe that was what led to her demise.
I think whenever he draws a drawing with a color, it triggers him to do something "bad" to the person in the drawing that ultimately leads to the death of the person. And his drawing ultimately becomes a reality
I love the sound effects and music they use. it always gives it the proper feeling for every film

SOME OF THESE ARTIST DESERVE FULL MOVIES. THIS WAS GREAT..
May be Arthur had visions coz just by looking in the eyes of the doctor he could tell about her mother commit suicide .
Moreover ,he had drawn the room he was in (present) back in time when he was in his studio and he could also foresee the death of the person in the bed whom we saw in the beginning...

This one is a mindfuck! lol The acting was really top notch in this one. Easily the best short on this channel I've seen so far. My first instinct was that Arthur has a special gift to see the future through his drawings, but on re-watch and through several key lines of dialogue, I like the theory that Jennifer is actually in purgatory after she already committed suicide and Arthur is basically Death. Several possibilities.

They told me the same when I was 15, after first suicide attempt.
I'm 21.5 and still waiting for the day that will happen.
You can't change the world, so... NO.
No need to lie about it to your patients.
Psychologists and psychiatrists (had them both) will ask you 'how they can help you' all the time. Like it's your job as a patient to make it out for yourself or something... But when you DO make a suggestion, it will always end with excuses for why that can't be done.
Even something as simple as asking for a hug ended with a: "It doesn't work that way here." plain, doable, outlined issues like:
Asking for job advice, how to deal with daily stressors (for me dog barking, and dogs in general is a huge one; as well as tobacco smoke, I can stand incense and pure cannabis, but tobacco immediately takes away my limited concentration and motivation), dating advice and just making friends in general.
You know, the things that actually matter in a person's life...
Nope.
Here, take some escitalopram, some bupropion, maybe some venlafaxine.
I even had to suggest a certain medication and give an explanation myself, to a psychiatrist! A psychiatrist is a licensed doctor btw. That's the main difference with a psychologist. A psychiatrist can give you a prescription for drugs. A psychologist can't. And a therapist can mean lots of things, even I can call myself a therapist for that matter.
It was remarkable they even - after a waiting period - finally provided me with something to eat besides bread and jam. (vegan)
If it's about halal, you don't even have to ask. You can bet it's available everywhere.
Not that any mediation, herb, supplement, etc. Has ever actually helped me in the first place. It just gives you side effects and physical withdrawal when quitting.
Studies show less then half of people get any benefit from SSRI's. And most of it is placebo.
I can't even imagine how terrible it would be in the US in comparison with Europe. Where you don't have the same insurance as we do here. A stay at a psychiatric hospital is expensive as hell. If hell has its thermostat on maximum all year long.
The reasons why I still like some psychiatric hospitals (even the isolated one, with fences like in prison) are the same as why being at a boarding school was the best time of my youth.
The structure and lessened isolation.
You meet people, namely patients. It just happens as you both happen to be at the same place, at the same time.
That's better then feeling lonely and having to dreadfully slump myself throughout every day as I do now.
The worst part of psychiatry was being the exception they didn't want to see coming (they literally let me go because they didn't want me there anymore)
and the tobacco stench passing to the sleeping rooms.
To end this comment with a positive note. I'm impressed with the patients drawing(s) ! The artist they hired for this film sure got some chops.
I'm so sorry. I really hope u can ne happy some day. Best of luck
Ooh that's some awful bullsh*t... I hope you'll be fine sooner. I get what you're saying even though I don't harm myself. It's like they are trying to sugarcoat everything instead of actually doing or saying what they need to say to make us feel better. I don't get it. It's like when you hate yourself and tell that to someone and they compliment you (to try to make you feel better, when they never have and it just makes you feel worse). I mean wtf I'm not that stupid lol but anyways, my story is different. idk I just hope you're feeling better now
@@sinead1881 Thank you!
@@fellix7531Thank you.
Yes, I recently got a psychologist who actually seems to care.
Care in the sense that he works together with me step by step instead of just a bit of talking and looking weird at me as, sorry to say it, all psychologists and psychiatrists I had before.
This psychologist is actually still a younger person, but it feels like he knows more what he's doing.
I'll see how it works out.
Now with the corona pandemic my country is obligated to self isolate, so counselations are through videochat means, which isn't the same. But better then nothing.
@@kjell159 That's great! I'm glad to hear... I personally think that the younger the person is (most of the time) they have a lot more patience than those who are older. I'm happy that you're finally getting better little by little. I'm sure you'll get better soon~ Good luck
Alter is basically teaching us how to watch best movies in a short film.........
The best Alter short movie I have ever seen .
This certainly deserves more than 168k views.
Not sure, but I am guessing he is afraid of using the colour Red in his drawings because it turns them into reality? Or, is there more to it?
Ayesha Cullen a sequel is necessary
I think it’s all in her head, I don’t even think he exists it’s probably a projection she has created to lead up to her suicide(there’s probably more to it tho)
Actually my understanding is pretty similar. In fact, if it was as many other people say that this guy does not exist and it's all in her head, this would be just another one of those tedious, pretentious and predictable films where the writer does not know what good storytelling looks like. I've seen quite many films where the only way to make sence of them is just 'it's all his/her imagination'. But good films don't work that way. Because films are essentially stories. And if your story concludes like "and all that's happened is just one's imagination", where if it wasn't, the story would not make any sense because characters wouldn't seem to have the right motives, right emotional responses , and even right common sense, then it's a bad story. Because there are so many other fields in visual arts that can achieve using moving pictures to stimulate emotional and even physical responses way better than just the format of a film. So telling your audience that nothing needs to make sense and characters don't really have to be reasonable (that is not to say they have to be in their right mind) becuase it's just imagination seems to be purely bad storytelling.
Okay .... that put me on the edge of my chair !!!! Wow ... that is well placed !!!!
