This is not for me, but can see the versatility and the appeal to others. If it gets you into music production / creation and you enjoy it, then this is great!
I think there’s almost like two sides to this. The app and the preset sounds are clearly aimed at someone getting into music production or having done it for a short time. On the other hand, as a MPE controller I think it’s more suitable as a highly portable and configurable tool for a relatively seasoned producer.
@@whaleshaveteeth for sure! I'm not even on DAW, the closest currently with MPC One, so watching this video there's lots of things I'm missing and don't appreciate. Not dissing on the video, just commenting (from my stand of view) this isn't something I can start working with easily, for a start I need a tablet by the looks of things. Something is kind just to have Koala Sampler on it and dedicated, preferably with the original sideways they had before the upgrade - great ideas but I've found it very buggy on my phone since then and absolutely loved it before: 15 out of 10 for ease of use and overall output... Would be interesting since I mention it now if those devices with within the Koala Sampler app, might be worth investigating and another upload for you - I'd be watching ✌️✌️♥️♥️♥️♥️ There was some similar rolly keyboard this reminds me of, but yes, updated and interactive with a while other set of functions, as I say,I can see the appeal to people wanting to start with lots of options available to them with this. Thanks for sharing as I hadn't seen this before 🤗
1:49 “Undo’ed”. ‘Un-did?’ Lol. Really enjoyed this review. Informative and entertaining. Video and sound are outstanding. I don’t have an expressive controller, will check this out. Thanks for putting this together.
I agree! They feel so different to playing a regular keyboard. I was afraid that it would feel bad playing without the physical feedback of pressing something down but the whole vibe of playing something with MPE is so different I haven't missed that.
@@Alckemy oh I see! I don't think this is magnetic though - I don't know what to call it but there's like a bay(?) that's couple of millimeters deep and the silicone mats just snap to it.
@@whaleshaveteeth the snap i think is the magnets which tell the device what face is on. Could be wrong but that’s how the sensel worked. Thanks for the cool vid!
@@Alckemy It's RFID, NTAG213 specifically. You can read the pad on your phone but it's completely nonsense, lol. Hope they develop an SDK like the morph one day.
Just wanted to say that your videos are absolutely incredible. Visuals, music, humour, you name it. Keep up the good work!

This has no business being so hard🔥
Aayyy thank you for real!
Hard to use and set it on fire, or hard, like fire, it burns?

I’ve ordered one! Waiting for delivery (each day until 3).
Sick demo man - I want one!!
Thanks mate, I'd love to see what you'd be able to cook with this!
Floppy pads to swap is a fun idea

“Portable”? So it can go on its own with hardware synths? I thought it always needs to be connected w a computer or tablet.
Is this the sensel morph successor?
Never tried that one but looks interesting too?
@@whaleshaveteeth it’s discontinued but it had the same magnetic faceplate approach that remapped the sensor. Was also portable!

Is it velocity/pressure sensitive?
Yes it is
Support is terrible and they outright ignore you, even after paying for the pro upgrade.
Do I have to do the pro upgrade to play mpe on 3rd party gear?
Did they ever give you the support you needed?
hueta
This looks SO bad ,-
it looks fun and cool you got no style bro :P
It looks like a cheap clone of the Sensel Morph. Which is exactly what it is.
