Manny Pacquaio is seen here as filmed January 29, 2010 by FightFan.com's Ace Freeman in a lighter moment in training. Pacquiao, who cites influence from the legendary Bruce Lee, can be seen incorporating the late great martial artist's style and footwork in to his shadow boxing and practicing of movements.
Bruce lee is a movie star, manny is a REAL FIGHTER
When a Boxing Champion got inspired by Bruce, you know Bruce isn't just an actor.
BRUCE LEE BEFORE an actor he was a street fighter. You shit
My brother Lee was a Master . Watch Ipman
Bro, please learn more about Bruce Lee...
Both men are nice people. Bruce is philosophical and we'll spoken. Many is sweet , patriotic and caring
Both good men
If you watch how Manny dodges in and out when he throws combos to open up his opponents defense.. I get chills because that was one of Bruce's main philosophies when it comes to boxing.. mixing it with western fencing techniques as far as footwork and working off of the lead and power side (which in this case is both their right hands while standing south paw).. two great fighters !
my two favorite man manny and chief ramsay
Manny Pacquiao is an athlete and tournament fighter in boxing.
Bruce lee was a phenomenon in this world, he was a teacher,a philosopher/thinker,wise was he,
And he studied and learnd almost some of the biggest martial art forms and created a philosophy of it or so called Tao of Jeet kune do, and oh i forgot he was like a perfectionist, and a hell of an actor.
He was also an inventor,he invented training machines, and was not an ordinary man,he was like the greatest streetfighter ever.
Why is Gordon Ramsay ring side?
hahahaha same
2 of my favorite idols
Thanks bro, I appreciate that.
Pacquiao is the Bruce Lee of this era :D :D :D :D
he will become an inspiration from the upcomming fighters 40-50years from now.
Manny Pacquiao...Boxer,Champ,Hero
Bruce Lee (Wingchun) did exchanged ideas and techniques with his friend a Filipino named Dan Inosanto (Arnis/Kali/Eskrima), Inosanto had learned FMA from various Filipino Martial Arts Guro (teacher) from the Philippines; and as far as I know, Bruce incorporated into some degree FMA to his weapons fighting aspect of Jeet Kune Do. Inosanto also learned Silat from the Malay people (Malaysia,Indonesia,Philippines).
Bruce Lee n Manny Pacquiao are two HEROES.
ASIAN SENSATION
Awesome! Thanks FightFan!
its cool how one of manny's favourite idols and martial artist is bruce lee.
@DedZero Filipinos have Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis, Eskrima, Kali) which is focused on blade adn stick fighting, knife fighting, swords (Kris, Bolo, Kampilan, Barong, and Balisong, etc.) also stick fighting; our empty hand is Panuntukan or Suntukan, our grappling is Dumog... it's actually a complete art, a warrior art, used by our people/ancestors against each other in tribal/clan wars and used to fight against foreign invaders, Spain, U.S.A., Japan WW2.
Hes so fluid. Fast becoming flawless
i agree..MMA is different. it formed a new martial arts class itself..
This just motivated me to work out even more
This is why Manny can afford to punch in off balance angles and not get thrown off. His calves are great support and keep him standing.
AMEN!!!!!!!! and good line that was cool you sounded like some guy off a cool mma movie or something.
Just to clarify it to you guys, this is not pacquiao, this is me warming up for my next sparring session
나는 매니 Pacquiao 우승자를 믿고, nice video I'm from Korea, definitely Manny is our champion here.
부산 한국에서
my surname is LEE
@TerrisJ3 Yeah i agree, he's dominated in mma for so many years, he's a great fighter.
@LNwolf87 You were right actually, the pics of Manny wearing a Muay Thai gear was actually, indeed from a Philippine reality TV show just shot at Thailand.
Manny has no prior experience in Muay Thai before boxing, only boxing.
One thing's for sure he definitely has Bruce's footwork and handspeed, although no one in my opinion can be compared to Lee, still I'm a huge Pacman fan though! I couldn't believe the size of his calf's... HUMONGOUS !! Does anyone know the name of the song?? Thanks
yo u guys seen the wall painting manny got in his house or gym its him and bruce lee that shit was clean...
@ SouthFultonClick We have been following he's career ever since he was young, as Manny back then was already competing at an early age and most of his fights were being televised here on local TV.
And Manny was already a crowd favorite whenever he fights due to his aggressive style but he lacked polishing back then that Freddie Roach was able develop him later on.
Manny only has boxing experience but you're right.. that doesn't mean he can't crossover to another sport, because IMO... he can.
Bruce Lee's latissimus dorsi were epic.
Big respect for manny..you can tell he is a Lee fan.. shame he isn't as fast...
nice vid.. is that Peter Manfredo at the back?.
Pacquiao is our closest match to Bruce Lee. Pacquiao & Seagal should make a movie in the Philippines fighting against each other or teaming up to fight the bad guys!
Pacman is bigger than bruce lee
The passing of the torch.
i love how Freddie has this look on his face like, "Manny... what the hell are you doing??" lol
he's not heartless. i meant, won't back down from any challenge. that's what i meant.
Probably just as fast as Bruce ever was, both supreme athletes.
@banyohazard69 thank you, and the same to you.
@DeathrowRecords1995 Thank you.
the Bruce Lee of modern day society...GO MANNY!
Many respects to Manny P.
BEAUTIFUL
You know, no ones gonna take you seriously when you have bruce lees name in your username.
I'm Adding a dose of realism to this by saying Bruce Lee was an actor, not a world class fighter. If Paq man were to ever fight Bruce at the same age and weight it would be embarrassing for Mr. Lee. Bruce Lee, however, inspired many of next generation martial artist by being legendary
that's why his punches is strong...he pushes you with his punches using his feet,,, and that's why a formerly flyweight is known for knocking down boxers,,,
Damn, Bruce could probably fly with lats that huge!
@loss7y ignore those with little brains and bad opinions. Be proud of who you are and forget the rest.
Manny's foot work is the best, thats one of the reasons his opponents get clocked in those weird angles. Truly superior in speed and lets forget power!
MP does have the resemblance of bruce Lee, i mean heck...both are fast, hard punchin' southpaws. LOL!
waaaaaa!
anyone know the song used?
@Racin808
How exactly do you know that? They slow down the camera to capture Bruce Lee's move in movies...
@SouthFultonClick Manny has no kick boxing background sir, the picture of him circulating on the internet wearing a Muay thai shorts standing on the ring is from a Philippine reality TV show which was shot in Thailand a long time ago, the show producers challenged him to wear those and get into the ring with the Thai fighter (all was just part of the reality shows challenge).
I hope that clarifies everything up, the show was televised here in the Philippines and watched by many.
The hair nailed it!
@IsaIMember nope... but I know the song "Envy".
does pac still sign autographs at the wildcard and if so when?
Bruce try'd his hand at boxing; but had a rough time at first, adapting to not being able to throw kicks and what not. Read some of Bruces books. If it wasn't for Bruce Lee martial arts in America wouldn't be where they are today. He was sort of the mma of his time, mixing many fighting arts, creating his own. Then again the greeks were probably the first mixed martial artists introducing Pankration into the olympics in 648 BC. Regarless Pac Man is an amazing fighter and Bruce was also.
thats not really a beer bong dude that where they throw up when they over work themselves or get punch hard enough
@SouthFultonClick good day sir.
good luck manny..
he walks around 150-155 lbs. thats his normal weight.
But he used to be a 98 lbs when he was a starving little boy. So he worked his way up the weight.
why is the guy in the corner holding a beer bong? lol!
my comment was at xinixmzeng who said no one could beat bruce lee. i wasnt even talking about manny.
Bruce Lee is Pacquiao's Idol and if Bruce Lee is still alive , Bruce Lee probably idolize Pacquiao too . yeah! Asian Rocksss!
DAMN LOOK AT THOSE CALVESSSSSSSSS...............................I THINK THATS WHERE THE BALANCE COMES FROM AND ALL THAT FOOTWORK
Why is freddie roach wearing a team canada hockey shirt?
type in manny pacquiaos hand speed and see the 1.4 mill view video
@arsenalfbce During the previous East Asia Summit, where Asian countries are trying to make a prosperous region by making our own version of the European Union... a western journalist said "the reason why Asian countries can't seem to make their own economic grouping is because of ancient alliances and rivalries"... which means it has something to do with history... something to do with ancient relationships; the region would be more prosperous if we could look past old disputes, like the Euros
damn, look at that footwork
Bruce Pacquiao!
this video rocks!! i've been hearing that manny grew up idolizing bruce lee. this video just proves it. great job whoever post this video!! no wonder manny gets better and angry when he gets hit jst like bruce lee.
manny said bruce lee is his idol. i dont see why theres even arguements about this. just respect both of them! jesus. whiners.
I want those shorts!!!!!!
where can i get em?
@petter106 no...he was a fighter who acted. he trained in like everything there was to train in. he was a fighter and some of the people on the set of his movies would offer him out because they thought he was just an actor who thought he could fight and he would fight them and handle them. look him up and actually gain some knowledge on the man before trying to insult him.
Freddie Roach looks like a cross between gordon ramsey and that guy from diggnation without his glasses.
mean fighting machine..
@bigkckrva Manny does not practice Muay Thai, Manny is in fact an army reservist of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, with a rank of sergeant major, and to be a soldier in the Philippine Army they teach you Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis/Kali/Eskrima), the fighting arts used by our people to fight each other during tribe/clan wars, against foreign invaders like Spain, U.S., Japan. he just picked up some things (pain conditioning) during his fights in Thai, and that's it.
@bird4200 Very well said sir... god bless and good luck to you and your family.
@kwinseeeee sup my islander friend?
no one will ever be like bruce lee, especially not pacquiao.
damn, Pacquiao's calf muscles are like tree stumps. it's no wonder why he's so powerful with his punches
Bruce Lee is an icon... he wouldn't back down to anyone, not even Mayweather, even if Mayweather wants excessive blood testing, Bruce Lee would not back down. Pacquiao did.
@ForOweOne But who do you think would win if they played chess?
we would not know until they fought.
@TheFlipzPride before bruce lee was an actor he was a very popular in martial arts..... just like arnold in body building........jackie chan(martial arts),,,,jet li (martial arts)
just gonna put it out there. bruce lee is the worlds greatest martial artist today he had always challenged himself to get better as a martial artist. without a doubt manny pacquiao reflects this. bruce was small (shit compact even) but he was powerful and fast. touchy subject but bruce has been accused of steroids just as manny has been. also bruce lee is pretty popular in the philz
@TerrisJ3 no, u got it the other way around. Pacquiao is Bruce Lee reincarnated.
@loss7y Thank you, take care of yourself.
its so crazy how small arms packed a super punch
Bruce Lee, my idol, was a skinny dude
but his punches were just a strong as big buff dude
Shaolin monks can do crazy shit too
they used to finger punch trees
and there's a tree in china that has holes on it showing the shaolin monks practiced finger punching,,, shiiit one of these days ima go to china, and devote myself to the shaolin ways
These guys are the real Super Saiyans
@akosihelbert Yes however Bruce didnt actually have a style, he always said that would limit his skills, they are both unarmed combat fighters, and if lee did but gloves on, he would win.
cool!
@akosihelbert well i cant exactly call pacquiao a technical fighter. or a fighter that knows how to make adjustments.. ive seen him in a few fights where he was just getting hit and countered and was just lost... like the juan marquez fight. he really had no answers and it was sad for boxing. cuz he was just doing a one two all night.and marquez made adjustments and eventually turned the fight around... thats why i tell people if he gets off on floyd if he dont knock him out he wont get it again
If Bruce Lee made it to boxing, he'll be even better than everyone who made history in boxing, even better than Floyd, Pac, JMM, Shane, DLH, Holyfield, Tyson, Hopkins, etc. YES! No matter what weight division he's in.
i am right handed southpaw very rare thats why i like pacquiao
how do you know they were as strong as a buff dude? Ever see him knock anyone out?
@HawaiianWarrior100 i agree he always was martial artist 1st actor 2nd ...he said it him self he wanted to use films to show the public what true martial arts is ..and he was the best no matter what some say
@TheFlipzPride dude im just commenting on how much pacquiao trains and that bruce influences a lot of people. like how MJ affected poppers and hip-hop dancers worldwide. there just good influences plus my idea on street fight is no rules, bitng , eyegouging, weapons etc. and also random on the spot fights.
@lucky70duce How'd you know... you carried his gym bag for him? LOL!
@Racin808 In boxing yes, fighting in general - no way, bruce's kicks and movement was ridiculous and his straight line punches.
@alp4a I don't understand your question? what do you exactly mean?
@Gooseman2k2 Watch the video Bruce Lee's Exhibitions to see how much of a tremendous fighter he was.
@SouthFultonClick I'm telling you now sir. Manny has no prior experience in Kickboxing before going to boxing.
Manny actually only has boxing experience; I'm just trying to clarify thing up here, keeping it real so to speak; I too would love it if Manny indeed had a kickboxing experience prior to boxing, as I would love to see him compete in K1 (all striking) unfortunately that is not the case
I have been following Manny's career ever since he started boxing (he was a kid), as I am a fight fan
if pacquiao could only kick as fast as his lightning hands are known for...damn!
@jiujitsujedi are you talking about the WADA? that is STILL under USADA, while he is doing half his training in the Philippines, under Freddy Roach. and the other half of the training at the Wild Card gym? Manny doesn't have to change anything to train for a fight, other than studying the fighter he is fighting, Now ask yourself why all the sudden, when they mention Manny to Mayweather all the sudden Rules change to his liking. especally when they are a Threat to his zero loses.
