Its extremely common for lead actors in long running tv shows to end up directing a few episodes here and there. Directing short one off episodes of a show where you already know the characters/ themes etc extremely well to then directing a feature length film of a completely unfamiliar genre and then having one of the godfathers of said genre give you praise is very impressive

Stephen King's stories aren't about the monsters, they're all about the characters. That's what I love about his stories and Krasinski's opus. The characters become real people we know in real life, making the monsters all the more frightening.

Now I've got to see A Quiet Place again! And maybe call a certain Deaf friend by Zoom, hope my ASL isn't too rusty.
But yeah, any kind of story I watch or read needs characters that to me are real, otherwise credibility & interest is lost.

As someone who only likes classic horror movies I was impressed by this film. The atmosphere and suspense is spot on and of course if Stephen King likes it you know it has to be good.
This movie is actually SO GOOD, not your average horror movie, it’s different in a good way! So glad i saw it in theater! Good job john and emily, they are SO TALENTED, and an adorable couple!

John Krasinski is by far one of the most amazing and wonderful people out there. Funny enough, so is Stephen King. I wish I lived in a world that was more like them, but where would we get King's horror from then ...
John calling Millie an Angel and a beautiful talented woman made me legit "AW", not because I have the same name as her but because she genuinely is so talented. Both the kids in the film are! So many props to them both, they were absolutely fantastic, and I'm glad John picked them for the roles. Everyone did so amazingly well in the film. He's obviously an amazing father if he talks about kids he works with like that, when his kids get older they're going to be cherished even more than they are already and probably CRAZY talented.
Krasinski is one of those people who deserves his success -- Totally rooting for him.

I'd say maybe he was more of a regular guy in season one of the office or something ....but it might be my personal taste but somewhere between the last few seasons of TO and now I think he's just reached his peak attractiveness (which Imo n is very hot). Not sure if it's wealth suiting people or again, my personal preferences, but despite the popular opinion that younger is better, I think men get the hottest they'll be at like early 30s to late fourties depending, countless of examples in Hollywood and irl that I've seen of this. Look at pics of all the most popular men in Hollywood and sports who are around that age now.......(brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stephen curry, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Timberlake, Jason momoa..Ben afflek....will smith....I can go on and on)...and compare it to when they were like 18-25.......if they take care of themselves they almost always look better with age imo (up until like 50). Not as many women are the same, but some are (though I'm a straight woman, so probably not the best judge of that)

This movie reminded me of a short story I read a long time ago. Was a story called, "Milk Teeth". It is also an audio dialogue on youtube. It comes to me as no surprise that Stephen King found this movie in high regard. Great concept and good acting. Can't say it was my favorite movie or the best movie, but John did a bang up job in a genre that was out of his element. Anything can be made with heart, bravo.

This movie was amazing, I couldn't believe how the silence kept my attention it was like you could hear what was going on totally forgot about the silence after awhile , it was just an awesome, awesome movie great job John!
Child actors are a different breed today compared to what they were in the 90's and earlier. Back then, there was 1 good child actor for every 1000.
Nowadays, the child actors are as driven and trained and professional as any adult.
And if I got such praise from Stephen King, I'd be squeeing for a month straight.

Currently watching the office for the first time and it’s so cool to see how far John has come
Good work pays off people, everyone is GOING NUTS for this movie, is has a fantastic premise and is utilized better than I would've imagined. Krasinski did a stellar job with this one and i'm more than down for what he has in store next...the only problem I had with the movie though...a tad too many jump scares for my liking, it feels like that was added in to help normal folk understand that it was a horror and not a thriller, but what people don't understand is that horror is that intense feeling of being scared, not a scary thing in your face accompanied by a sound effect, that's just the simple way of saying, hey look this is scary, but being able to convey the feeling of the intensity in scary moments is what horror is, and John did that BRILLIANTLY with this film.

Never paid much attention to John Krasinski before but that beard has me swirling.
Yet the person who actually wrote the script didn't even get named. No wonder why all the best writers have moved to Television, in TV it's all about the creators
VirtualHigh5 Can't agree more.. and that's why there are so many sarcastic jokes about screen play writers. That no one even cares about them. However, script is the core of a good film.
VirtualHigh5 The thing is, the original screenwriter sold his script to the movie studio and after that it was probably re-written a few times. So really, the guy only wrote the idea. John Krasinski actually brought it to life and made it work on screen.
I'm not saying he shouldn't be credited. A lot of times, though, when a screenwriter sells a script to a movie studio... it's just work. They are trying to make a living. Every once in a while, their work manifests into a successful movie, but when that happens, it's because the studio hired the appropriate crew and director to turn that original rough script into a polished, finished product.
ultimatekai You are absolutely right. And I completely understand the whole idea behind the "rough draft" is turned into a masterpiece by other writers or creators. Still... the writers do the work. They invent ideas and give the push for further development of the plot but they are critically underestimated
The screenwriter who wrote it was most likely a freelance. The only way screenwriters get recognized is if they direct the movie also.
