I rubbed one of my wife’s candles along the hip pocket zippers to lube them up a bit and now they are working much better.
The europe version of it has rain cover included, i got that one!
Bought this pack this summer. Used it on my 75km solo hike few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it!

I have this exact same bag and color. Love it, you can pack it to the brim and it feels almost featherless on your back. Your back and sides never overheat and it really makes a difference on day long hikes.
The one thing I haven't seen anyone really mention is how to clean under the anti gravity tech. It will build up dirt and stuff underneath. on my smaller osprey I used an air can, which works pretty well.
As of 2022, the current version of the Atmos AG 65 does have a pack cover included. I love my Osprey Atmos 65 AG. My only gripe is not opening the waist belt pockets but trying to close them which is not easy with one hand.
Just bought mine and yes, love the raincover tucked behind a zipper at the very bottom. Plus mine has main load access zippers on both sides. $351 with tax, REI. I'm a beginner dating a pro so I had to. Looking forward to getting way out there. 🏞️
Heard the atmos squeeks quite a bit. Is that true?
Best review I've seen on this backpack. I've just ordered one, really excited to use this as my main backpack after using a Bergaus Antaeus 65L which is super dated compared to these new, more evolved backpacks.
Kool review, I'm in England UK, purchased couple of weeks ago, and mine has the rain cover, bright neon green, which is a colour i'm not keen on, so might buy a replacement rain cover, which is apparently only included in EU and UK version, as we tend to get a lot of wet weather here, however this is an awesome pack, very practical design, looking forward to testing it out, thanks for an informative review.

According to REI website it does now come with an "Integrated FlapJacket protects contents from foul weather and rain during lidless use. (03/07/2021)
@@KevinIbanez the "flapjacket" has always been there. There are 2 version of the Atmos AG - the European version does come with a rain cover, the US version does not. That's the only difference between the two versions. This also explains conflicting information found online ;)

Coming from military packs I can seriously vouch for the fit and especially the comfort in this pack it is sublime 👌🏻The only military pack that is comfortable is the Mystery Ranch 6500 pack and a Savotta jääkäri large pack also.

This is a great review. I like the fact you actually showed taking the water bottle out and putting it back in WITH THE PACK ON! With any pack review, I want to know if you can access your water with the pack on plus put the water bottle back! Thanks.

With regards to the squeaking, I've found that spraying the perimeter of the back frame with silcone spray. It doesn't cure it completely but, in my experience, it helps a lot. I have a smaller 'AG' backpack that does the same.
I'm surprised the raincover isn't included. Here in the UK, one is enclosed as standard and lives in the top hood.

I did ordered mine (Osprey Atmos AG 50L - L ) from UK and it did came with raincaover. I checked the price for Osprey raincover here in Toronto at Atmosphere Store and is selling for $34.99 CAD. But unfortunately found out after my gears (Sleeping bag, tent, Sleeping pad) fill up the most of space in backpack. I think I have to switch to Osprey Atmos AG 65L.
I got this pack just some weeks ago, but mine comes with a raincover in lowest compartment. So i think they have added on that feature.

Good review. I have the same pack but in Cinnamon(rust) color. I agree with everything you said. Especially the lack of a raincover. Come on Osprey! Lol. Mine doesn't squeak too bad...but i know what you mean. The comfort of the pack far outweighs the occassional squeak tho. I think Osprey just updated the Atmos AG with new colors, but i don't think they changed anything else about it. By the way, what camera do you use to shoot your vids? Thanks!

I just bought a brand new one of these versions and vintage (in orange). He had it in his garage for the past 5 years - still had REI tags on it. Rumor has it that the newer 2022+ versions aren't up to the same quality as the older Ospreys. Any truth to this? Bummed no rain cover. What are you guys using for this particular pack for a cover?? Looking forward to breaking it in with some longer day hikes coming soon.

I have an Osprey pack cover and never use it. Just use a heavy compactor bag inside. The outer cover doesn’t prevent water getting in the side near you in my experience
@NY Gear Review I have read that the hip belts are a little short of padding. Causing the cables that run along the upper and lower edges of the belt to pinch your hips. Has this been your experience while using the pack while loaded?
The reason I ask is I am seriously considering this pack. I have a Xentih 88 and just returned the Gregory Paragon 68L. I am a slim build so the hip belt fit is important. The Xenith belt slips after some time on the trail and I find I am always readjusting it. The Gregory pinched quite a bit and I had to return it.
I realize this review has been out for some time. But your trail time and feedback with this bag will be appreciated.
Great question! This has not been my experience. I find the hip belts super comfy and heavily padded. I will note, however, that I think this hipbelt is intended for people with bigger builds. I pretty much max mine out to tighten it. But I definitely have some room to tighten even further if needed. Hope that all helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
Trying to decide between this pack and gregory baltoro 65 (2018). Any advice sir?
Classic decision right there. The two packs are very similar with a few notable differences. First off the Baltoro comes with a rain cover and the Brain doubles as a day pack for short hikes. The suspension on the Baltoro will carry heavier loads, topping out around 55lbs while the Atmos can't really carry more than 40lbs. All that being said... I prefer the functionality, weight, and breathability of the Atmos just a little bit more than the Baltoro.
Maybe the rain cover brings it over a certain weight for shipping to the US 🤷♂️

any updates on the squeakiness? lol, I know that would get on my nerves. I've heard the same thing about the aura (which I'm thinking about), so I'm hesitant to make any purchases

Hello, are the side zippered pockets big enough to fit a polar tek fleece jacket in one pocket and a 800 fill power down jacket in the other for fast access to layer up or down? Thanks!
We think so! They're fairly sizable pockets.

Trying to decide between this pack and the Arc'teryx Bora AR 63. I can get both for nearly the same price (actually the Bora AR would be $50 cheaper, even though it retails for about $300 more) so it's a really tough call. Any advice there?
Hey there! We think the choice is simple... get the Bora. They're roughly the same weight but the suspension on the Bora AR 63 is superior. We love how the Bora's carbon fiber chassis moves with the user, and the face fabric is incredibly tough. The only reason we don't love the Bora is due to it's insane price tag. But if you can get it cheaper than the Atmos it seems like a no brainier to us. The only reason to go with the Atmos is if you feel that ventilation is paramount. Otherwise, it sounds like you're getting a steal of a price. Hope that helps!
NY Gear Review thanks for the response, somehow I didn't see it until now! My only decision now is between the Bora AR 63 and the AR 50. I tyoically take one 5-7 day trip a year, and then a bunch of 2-3 day trips. Any advice on what size to go with? Extra room in the 63 sounds nice, but I also don't know if it would be overkill on the shorter trips. At the same time, not sure 50L is enough for the longer trips. Any help/advice is definitely appreciated!
Mountain Jeep we recommend going with the 63. You won't regret it. Better to have more space and not need it, than to not have enough room in your pack. On shorter trips I'll still bring my 70liter, and then to fill it out(give shape) by not putting my sleeping bag in it's stuff sack. 63liters sounds like the perfect size to us.

I had intended on buying this bag thinking my pack weight around 40lbs, I just weighed it and turns out I'm carrying 51.8lbs. Will this pack be fine with that weight or should I look more at the Aether 70L?
It should be fine. I used one on the Appalachian Trail, and for several hundred miles I was carrying 50+ lbs.

Damn this color is ugly. I could onyl find this in this greenish-grey color and then the bright granny apple green. Now in the 2018 version they have an attractive red and a low-key REAL grey and a cool blue for the men's Atmos AG 50 and 65. Also they finally fixed the darn supertight zippered hip pockets.. I sometimes feel like Osprey just slow-rolls the changes to keep you buying new packs, and it really pisses me off. Same thing with an old 40L travel pack from Osprey I had; they took away the front 'slash' pocket, then put it back the very next year, leaving me outta luck.
A 5 lb 65 liter pack for Thru-Hiking? No.
I love osprey but the rain cover is a cheap and lame move to get more money out of us definitely not cool osprey
