  • Erik & Christina just picked up their Kimbo camper and headed straight into a blizzard at Mammoth Lakes, CA! We ran across them in the parking lot and couldn't help but do a rig tour. We are seriously impressed with what Kimbo has cooked up with this lightweight, durable and easy to use camper.

The kimbo is truly the best in minimalist engineering I've observed. The dual functionality of most elements along with undeterred maintenance make this camper the dream of those of us that one day strive to reduce our footprint without giving up the accoutrements of certain elements of modern living. My partner and I will have to wait until our offspring are older before endeavoring into this fantastic voyage. Until then all you young people keep the industry innovating!

LOVE the construction. Radii(built my own rad bender) and rigidity bends(and brake for 1/8in aluminum) are how I did my 2 snowmobile trailers (no frame walls). I did, however 100% weld all my seems (knock on wood-2yrs in and no cracks have shown up)
Looks like a great product, and givin me ideas for the foam panel method I wanna do for my next build, Overland style rig. Thanks for the inside scoop guys!!

Thank you for making this video. Kimbo seems to be a great truck camper, but of course the one you guys built is supreme. I am going to order a Kimbo today, just my concern with Kimbo is the fact that there is no were to put a mini stove. I am most likely going to order it without the kitchen, so I can make room for a longer table. My use for the Kimbo is for snowboarding only, and as you know, in the cold, you can't cook outside.

I'm a full timer so my opinion is a bit different. I went with the kimbo. It isn't finished being built yet, bit I can't wait. I chose the kimbo because it is so modular. Being full time you need every inch of space to act as 3 inches of space. I have figured out how to get in a shower space, a composting toilet (cassette toilets are smelly), and storage for all my stuff. Kimbo truly gives a better canvas to create a space from. If I was going out on weekends, and week long trips, the scout would be a good option. I just couldn't go that way, and oddly a huge turn off for me on the scout was air circulation. After living in a regular size cargo van, you realize how important it is to keep out condensation. The scout has a dinky little fan that barely does anything. It would make for hot summer nights and wet walled winters.

I take trips anywhere from a few days to a month or so. I’ve been to New Orleans, Yosemite, death Valley, Yellowstone and the grand Tetons, Mount Baker, Grand Canyon and a few other places.
I’d like to put a portal hole in the side without a window, like they do in the boats. I just like the idea of having windows on every side, so I can see what’s around me.
I suggest it you get some bungee cords for your baskets or some other kind of covering, if you go off road you’re going to find the floor flooded with all kinds of stuff from the baskets. I also have made a board across the front of the bed, so that my stuff doesn’t slide off the bed onto the floor. I just use a clamp to fasten it where the shelves are.
I like the idea of your tarp covering your solar panel and top of your roof.

There's a sense of elegance in their well-engineered, low maintenance, Spartan simplicity. ... As George Thorogood sang, he drinks alone and prefers to be by himself. thats pretty neat. i like the walls.. is that metal on the inside? im building a permanet kinda central vacume. these little campers get so dirty so fast.. especially with dogs! ive got a hoover that the tank and motor seperate where its just a cylinder to mount in a cabinet. and with enough hose to reach everything.. boom!, a central hidden vacume system.
