I agree Harper is a great character but I hate the choice we’re we have to kill him. I like how they made a mason and woods with David and Harper. Because without Harper it’s just boring not having him around and I believe Harper been watching too much starship troopers.
And that’s the thing they lie to us just bait and switch their own fanbase and community
Despite him looking like a character from another video game franchise obviously army of two the cod developer and publisher literally promised their own fanbase community and audience that he was supposed to be the successor to another character who appeared in 5 cod titles and yes I’ve counted black ops declassified because who cares and this character did not go out in a blaze of glory it’s such a mean spirited and pointless death of him being shot down dragged interrogated punched and shot in the head for a cold blooded execution and everybody especially his own allies just left him in the street like a torn off expensive dollar note and everything that was given to the character such as box art marketing promos magazines etc was all for nothing the cod developers and publishers established that salazar was in cod mobile by the way so it was suckered in that he was brainwashed since the beginning and both him and david just forgave each other after the events of bo2

The sad thing is you have to kill him to get the good ending because if Harper survives Achilles veil and Farid dies instead, then karma is screwed either way if Salazar or DeFalco kills her

As cool as Harper is, the best ending requires sacrifices. I hate having to do it, but the amount of lives saved by doing so is well worth it. The best ending was the one at the greatest cost to ourselves, but I feel it's worth it. Harper would understand, I'm sure of it.
They should’ve made him the main playable or coop character in the first place and now look all for nothing
I’ve imagined people who first played this game after they watched the E3 trailer screaming out curse words such as huge f words when they got to this level without him and seeing the first scene from the E3 trailer and they just quit the game and got a refund because that was false advertising at its finest and they covered it up and get away scot free I mean seriously when have you ever played a game were it’s nothing like the E3 trailer and one of the characters that was displayed in got removed before the trailer it I even compare this to the last of us 2 because if you compare them it’s almost the same except character models were swapped out rather than removed

He gives you some great advice in judgement day. “I vote kill, capture didn’t work out last time.” And with him alive, capturing Menendez leads to the WORST ending, the one where woods dies

if chloe lives and menendez lives and you complete all the strike force missions you get an ending where menendez doesnt escape custody. harper has to be shot by farid for him to live and sacrifice himself for chloe, however.

@usadroopymeat1099 it's probobly for the best that you sacrifice harper, think about it. Section gets more leaderlike, you keep Farid and karma alive (that is if you save karma and keep defalco alive) eventually Farid will save karma, end defalco and the worm will be cracked

I never played this one. Bold of them to have a character that can be killed out of the story so early leaving so many scenes different with and without him.

I remember when you get the option to kill Harper or blow your cover. I know the developers meant it to be an agonising choice. Not gonna lie. I couldn’t have pressed that kill button quick enough.

I love the shootout the happens if you let Harper die, but I can’t go without Michael rooker
One of the biggest lies letdowns and disappointments in gaming history it’s like it was all for nothing because they spent all of their effort time money and talent on a character that the entire future campaign was build around and they disposed him like a piece of trash for no reason
I loved Harper too bc its Michael Rourke an under-rated actor. I always felt so bad that he got his face burned since I found out only after my first playthrough that you could stop it and I even tried to save him bc my first playthrough I didnt look anything up so I ended up not getting the best ending (I also shot Mason in the head bc who the hell could hav guessed to shoot him twice in the leg, I mean really🤨). On my second playthrough going for the best ending I still felt bad tho when I had to shoot him even tho I knew it was required to stop Raul and tons of other ppl died too so in the end at least Rourke's death saved Karma and saved ships full of other soldiers and sailors.
Well I did guess that we had to shoot him twice in the leg, my playthrough had evidence that the CIA was helping Menendez so Woods got suspicious therefore I knew I had to spare him
@@UrAverageFR_Teen if you take the time to really think about what the documents you found in the drug lab say it might be a way to figure it out, just something about hearing shoot him in the head as Woods made me feel like that what you had to do. It was definitely as big if not bigger of a twist then not shooting Rourke tho, even with him saying do it and calling you egghead as a way to let him know he meant it and wasn't just talking to who you were suppose to be, but to who he knew you really were.

It sucked that we have to kill harper to get the good ending, i feel like he was David's brother in arms much like Mason and woods, except harper at the beginning not only helped him during the campaign but he also helped David gain confidence to stand up in order to capture Menendez, but in the end his sacrifice was well worth it.
And it’s still a shame because it’s like they gave everything on the character for nothing and he should’ve been the main playable or coop character in the first place and all is forgiven from cod developers and publishers

There's tutorials where you can glitch the campaign to get the best ending and still have Harper, they've been on YT for years now if you want to look it up.

I never pick the choice where I have to kill him I always try to pick a different option. The best ending is required for you to sacrifice him, but I never do that. The developers said that the bad ending is canon so it means that harper is the one that survived.also in trailer and ads of this game u can see that harper is alive.

And, bad ending you called canon is Menendez' escaping from the prison, killing the old man Woods and self-immolating in front of Josefina's open grave. Actual canon ending is killing Menendez, not capturing him -- whether you save or kill Harper... Taking a look at Data Vault in Black Ops 3 Campaign Safehouse, it's written that David Mason killed Raul Menendez in Haiti, 2025.
Also, Mason's survival doesn't affect the canoncial of the story.

you can’t. i did bug out the game i think because when replaying Odysseus (even when killing haper and defalco) they’re all present when Menéndez enters the bridge. the cutscene shows defalco knocking out karma, farid shooting defalco in the head, and then salazar killing farid. after that harper asks what happens and the regular gameplay happens

How the hell is Karma alive? If Harper lives, Farid will not be there to protect Chloe from DeFalco or Menendez, thus she will die and Menendez's Cyber virus will end up destroying the world. This ending is impossible.

I never really understand why people would kill Harper in a heartbeat but always let Menendaz live. Obviously, the longer he lives, the more people get hurt and he kills himself at the end anyway. It's insulting honestly.

One of the biggest letdowns of all time a bait and switch and to add more salt on the wound you seriously don’t need him for the rest of the game because he doesn’t have his own ending and Salazar was in cod mobile
I never really liked Harper, to be honest.
Is it because that made him a disposable tool to sell the game just bait and switch their own fanbase and the fact that he outranks david the entire time if so than I am very sorry

Yeah I am totally with you on that LITERALLY ONE OF THE BIGGEST LETDOWNS AND BAIT AND SWITCHES IN GAMING HISTORY and they got away with it scot free he deserves better than being a disposable tool just to sell the game I even hated the death he had because canonically he wasn’t even that stupid to go in a empty VTOL all by himself but the writers just put him there just so they can have a laugh I even compared both of them to the last of us 2 at least joel was off guard rather than being in a car or helicopter all by himself and that misleading trailer with the swap out with jessie and joel and tlou2 was made 8 or 9 years after this game was made and it was a big coincidence or not to compare both of them i just can’t believe cod developers and publishers just lie to their own people about what this character was supposed to be and used the character as a marketing ploy just to bait and switch their blind loyal followers and fans how did it not occur to everybody that this was false advertising and character assassination that character had so much potential and look how they massacred your boy none of this would’ve happened if they just make him the main playable or co-op character in the first place and all is forgiven but it was far too late now they killed him off in the most cheapest appalling and humiliating way possible and nowadays cod developers and publishers are doing those same things along with overpricing their DLC bundles and titles without a fair discount mistreating their own employees especially old and new employees and even ignoring and buying off lawsuits from historical figures and historians
I still have those wounds to this very day especially in each title they made doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results same deaths same gameplay same stories and outcomes this whole cod franchise is a Definition of insanity and it was doomed from the very start and it pains me to watch how it became

Never kill Harper. I dont care if about the Jimmy Kimmel ending where its all sunshine and rainbows. The world is bleak and dark without Harper in it.
Yeah I am with you on that they literally put this character in marketing promos box art magazines etc only for a bait and switch and I’ve seen it on Batman Arkham origins and it was made after this game
