  • Coyotes are predators of opportunity and are always looking for a weakness in their prey for an easy take-down and meal. Well, this buck is no weakling and even acted like he wanted to kick the snot out of this Yote.

I bought my dad a red heeler pup in January 2018 around 5 months after he had his black lab put down and they instantly became best friends. My dad lives way out in French creek,wv and has fed “his deer” for over 20 years. This crazy dog made friends with the herd of deer and watches over them when dad is feeding them. It’s the craziest relationship I’ve ever seen, the deer, the dog, the dad. 😂

A Buddy of mine and I were fishing a trout stream going through a pasture with Dairy cattle . Two Blue Heelers guarded the cattle and let us get nowhere near!😆😆Best guard dogs around!!👍👍

Coyotes do this... it is a lure.
They send one from their pack hoping the buck will be bold enough to persue into an ambush.
That is why he seems bold in his approach but then has no hesitation turning to flee or acting as if he is dumb and doesnt know whether to actually attack the deer or run.
Coyotes take down bucks that size and bigger with ambush attacks because the buck can likely escape them if they all tried to approach it at once.

Had a coyote lay down about 400 yards from me a week or so ago. About 2 minutes later a doe walked right up on the coyote and spooked. Then began stalking her. Apparently they do this to imitate a fawn. I have never seen or heard of anything like that. Incredible animals.

This coyote is drawing the buck away from his does so the other coyotes can attack them unchallenged.
    It's a common strategy.

Sure it could---if the buck was weak and I believe that is what the coyote was testing. Or maybe that yote was lusting after that bucks food, a mineral rock.😂

Coyotes are known to investigate and determine if larger animals are healthy or weak then call on their buddies to help if needed. Thanks for watching Clayton!

@JS Project Wild Very cool. I have been using an obscure company called Boly along with a few crappies cameras. The Boly camera's image is beautiful as well. I am always curious to see what others are using out there. I will probably definitely try Browning one day mostly due to being able to use to a 512 Gb SD. I like the idea of leaving the camera out longer in order not to disrupt the wildlife too much.
