To the Entitled little punks out there. People used to work for a living Eric Durden's voice is unmatched. It's unique and I hope more people will listen to the keyboard. File is one that took off with the money huge lawsuits. All kinds of stuff that's why they didn't stay together. He felt he deserved more of the royalties because of the part. He played that song. Which is sickening the air Durden? He's still got a deep voice and great guy. Lot of fun, very humble grew up in Scotland his mother from Ireland father from England and had a horrific horrific childhood living in the slums because they lived at the bottom so if you lived at the bottom. Well, everything has to land doesn't it? That should give you your picture right there, so him and Eric Durden, the drama are the ones that started that band out innocent, so keep up the good work, thank you for letting us hear the song all the way through. My Husband was a Professional Bass Player, (Musician), he could play anything, except JAZZ! He was self taught! He started out at 5 years old. By 10, his family had a Gospel spot on our local radio station. Funny, I listened to him as a child! EVERY SUNDAY MORNING! WSUN! I believe music in born into the soul! A true Musician is self taught! Because they live it, breath it, and crave it! And Musicians are perfectionists!!! My husband would listen to song, and have it memorized by day's end. EXACTLY like the song! That is self taught! He had a hard time keeping a solid band together, everybody wanted to be star! My husband was about the music! It was play it like it's written, or don't play it!

Eric Burdon respected Sam Cooke so much, days after his murder, he took his band and recorded/covered a masterpiece of his in tribute, BRING IT ON HOME TO ME! Also, u might want to listen to another hit of theirs, WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE! Guaranteed mind-blowing songs! I'm 70 now, but, as a teen, this band, along with the Beatles and others, are what brought me along. STILL listening to them ALL! Lol!

Sam Cooke (my favourite all time singer along with Eric Burdon, lead singer of The Animals) had one of the most beautiful smooth soulful voices. If you haven't already listened to him in the past 3 years please do, you're in for a treat. Start off lsitening to Bring it on home by both Sam Cooke and the version by The Animals, both stunning.

One of the most Iconic bands from the 60s. They were part of the âBritish Invasionâ. The singer, Eric Burdon is recognized as one of the British Invasion's most unique singers with his deep, powerful blues-rock voice. One of my favorite bands from the era. You should listen to âWe Gotta Get out of This Placeâ and â Donât let me be misunderstood â
60s classic rock is a golden era, like mid to late 90s hip hop. There is a gold mine of great music in both eras. You cant go wrong diving down a rabbit hole of either.

It was, and relating to that I have always wondered what lead guitarist Hilton Valentine was smiling at towards the end of the video. I found out why recently; as you say, the vid was done in one take, but to get that final shot of keyboardist Alan Price at the front of the band, they had to move him and his keyboard to a new position whilst still playing. That is why singer Eric and the two guitarists pause their walk, to allow time off-camera for the keyboardist and the keyboard to be pushed to the front whilst Alan continued to play. That is what starts Hilton Valentine grinning, the funny sight of the keyboard being pushed with Alan still playing it!!
It still happens today, Just need some really talented people involved. Weird Al Yankovic parody song to Happy called Tacky he filmed it all in one shot, and it was even more impressive because they were moving between floors in the building.

That's quite a simple pattern of 7 in 6/8 time (1, 2 and 3, 4, 5, 6). As a fingerstyle guitar song it ranks as "Beginner", but when you play it, you feel like a boss!

Most of the early 60âs British Invasion bands were big fans of American R&B. Especially Blues.
Because they weren't "making" videos - as in today's videos. They were simply filming performances. Very different. Young man, back then the grups were comprised of actual musicians. This is the group that knocked the Beetles off the #1 spot on the the charts with House of the Rising Sun. Eric Burdon was 23 when he sang this song. They did this song in the studio in one take. All of them did an outstanding job. The Animals only stayed together a couple of years. Tensions within the group, but Eric Burdon has gone on with a long career with several different bands. All of them were great. Eric will be 80 on May 11, 2021.

You're listening to history. The Animals are likely the very first Rock n Roll band in history. They basically began rock n roll, it changed everything. For us it's different because we've grown up with rock n roll but can you imagine living in the 60's and hearing this for first time ever? It would blow your mind. Chas died several years ago ,Alan left the band in 1966. Eric still performs.this group had many different players but were the best band to come out of the British invasion.check out wind of change album done in 1968.

The song is centuries old, this version is from 64. The video is lipsynched, but the actually recording that they are lipsynching to was done in 10 minutes and in one take. So you are listening to one, single take. It's pretty amazing to me. I love so many of the Animals songs. I absolutely love Eric Burdon. If you like hearing sick keyboard/organ parts, youâd love The Doors. Most people would turn you to their popular stuff like âLight My Fireâ and âTouch Meâ, but personally I prefer their less popular stuff like âFive To Oneâ, âWhen The Musicâs Overâ, âThe Unknown Soldierâ, and âBack Door Manâ. Still though, Light My Fire has probably one of the most recognizable keyboard tunes ever. Keep expanding your horizons man!

My Hubby was a professional Bass Player, union member, His number one was the DRUMMER! Bass and Drums have to be tight! The rest, falls into place, or mistakes can be COVERED by the BASS or the DRUMS! It's funny, I took 3 years of Chorus in school, and I knew nothing about music, only vocals! He taught me how to pick out each instrument! MAN, gave me a whole new look into music! He would stand on stage, doing songs like this, for hours, holding up a 35 pound Bass! (Pevy) I so miss it! He passed Valentine's Day 2017, Vietnam finally claimed him! Today, I watch these videos, and I think, MAN, HTF did he do it????
I've read on the Internet, that the organ player for The Animals, had his organ custom-made at the factory, to meet his performance specifications. During the solo, the sound of the keys don't blend in together. They are separate, distinct notes. That was most likely a technological breakthrough for organs in 1964. If you are going to buy an organ or synthesizer keyboard, and any equipment to go with it, you will definitely want to do your research. Try to find out which organ/synthesizer players are your favorites, find out how they got their sound out of their equipment, and then get the equipment you want that will create the sound that you want to perform in concert and on recordings. In my opinion, the best organ/synthesizer players I know of are the late Ray Manzarek (of The Doors), Stevie Wonder (he did a lot of synthesizer work during the time he recorded "Superstition" in the 1970s), Ralph Hutter and the late Florian Schneider of the German Techno-Pop band, Kraftwerk (which is German for "Power Plant"), and Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart (of the British/Scottish Rock duo, Eurythmics) . Honorable mentions also go to British synthesizer player Vince Clarke (of Erasure, Yaz, and Depeche Mode) and the late Jonathan Lord (the organ player for the British Heavy Metal band, Deep Purple).
My three favorite songs by The Animals, in addition to this one, are "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "It's My Life", and "See See Rider". Honorable mention: "We've Got To Get Out Of This Place".

a lot of great music emerged in early 60s in UK (Stones, Beatles, Animals, Them, etc..) because of the influence from US R&B. Mainstream USA didn't become aware until it was brought back to the USA by the brits.

This was shot in one take as they didn't have the money for another take video and sound, pure talent from them all. The reason the guy is smiling is, off-screen the stagehands moved the keyboardist around to the front for last shot while he was still playing the organ.
You should know that almost every male singer in the 1960' admired black musicians and singers of the day that they developed an adaptation of and to their own sound from that point. There is no race in music. Just great enjoyment for everyone. "Don't Let Me Be MIsunderstood" is one of their best. Lead singer is Eric Burden. Later he was in another group named "Eric Burden and War". Take a listen to Edwin Starr singing "War". Vietnam protest song that will be relevant today. This is the one I would make a RAP version from.

Love The Animals and Eric Burdon. He also sang with the group WAR in the 1970âs. Anything by WAR is good to me. Cisco Kid, Slippinâ into Darkness and Spill the Wine with Eric Burdon. Heâs still alive. I was 14 or 15 when I first heard them and that was in the early 60âs. Have loved them ever since.

This clip was filmed in 1964 or 65 as part of a UK colour film called Pop Gear for paying theatre release. This explains the early high quality color images we luckily have for this mimed from the record performance and also a few other top UK only music artists from when the film was made.
CZcams has quite a few segments from this UK movie Pop Gear with the US contribution being to re title it Go Go Mania and add a few intro segments to satisfy the US audience.

The intro by TCM explains the background of the film. While some of these segments were likely to be shown on US Colour TV much later , the source would originally be this high quality film.
Rising Sun is the standout, but the Honeycombs with Have I the Right is a landmark too,
In 1964 images not recorded on film would be much lower quality videotape, not the notable quality images used here. Especially with the inferior US NTSC standards often called Never The Same Colour.
So lucky the film was made instead of relying on low standard video tape recordings that were usually taped over anyway to save tape cost money or made by filming a TV screen with poor quality results. I would be amazed to see any video recording from 1964 up to this standard of image quality. A better sound source can easily replace or lesser quality film track early source in CZcams postings these days.
These films mainly used mimed performances as the vast majority of theatre audiences wanted to hear the music performance as they knew it from the records.
Hope this helps people who have the colorized and vidoetape theories that usually pop up.

The record company didn't want them to record this. They wanted up tempo, catchy, safe pop songs. The Animals started playing this on tour with Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. They wanted to stand out, and chose this song to do it. They spent about 70 US dollars recording it on a day off from the tour. It took fifteen minutes to record it. They did a short sound check, as a run through to set the levels on the board. The house engineer had ZERO experience recording anything electric. This was his first time. The video seen here was filmed AFTER the song was an unexpected hit. Interesting post script is that Bob Dylan, who still hadn't made the jump to electric guitar, was going to record a version of it. But then The Animals released their version. It's been said that although Dylan was disappointed, it was this version they was his inspiration to finally go electric. Which at the time was a pretty big deal in the music business. Sadly, this song was the beginning of the end for them. Arranging credit went only to keyboardist Alan Price. According to Burdon, this was because there was no room to name all 5 members on the record label, Alan's first name was first alphabetically. But this meant that only Price received songwriter's royalties for it, and it caused bitterness amongst them ever since. The music business, even back then, was a vicious cesspool and cutthroat.

The song goes back to the 1860s and was originally sung by a woman using the word "gal" instead of "boy". Burdon changed it since he was singing it.
