    Temporal peaks frame a face and produce symmetry by the effect eyebrow contouring. It is the third component in a 𝘵𝘳𝘪-𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵; the eyelashes contour the eyes, which are contoured by the eyebrows, contoured by the temporal peaks - a concept of aesthetic symmetry (Lawlor K, 2021). While temporal peaks are often included in the transplant, eyebrows and eyelashes are not. With natural aging and often in conjunction with miniaturizaton, most men will have a loss of eyebrow and eyelash diameter, length, and pigment thus losing two layers of the tri-layer framing effect, resulting in loss of facial balance and youthfulness. This can be avoided and often reversed via oral Minoxidil therapy.
    Oral (tablet) Minoxidil sold under brand name Loniten promotes hair growth on scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes from systemic effect. It darkens hair by acting on melanocytes and is an off-label use pharmaceutical for hair growth (anagen) that requires prescription. It acts as an epidermal growth factor on matrix cells, via beta-catanin pathway, delaying their aging.
    Thus anagen is increased.
    Oral minoxidil serves to elongate the anagen phase of the hair cycle and acts as a potassium channel agonist, with action on the dermal papilla. Oral minoxidil is most effective in early on-set AGA where these anagen phases are at their best, and has minimal to no action on advanced hair loss, where stem cells/anagen phases are towards the end of their lifespan. It is crucial to lengthen anagen in youth, as there is a finite number of anagen phases in one's lifespan. In turn, early proactivity in youth will serve to lengthen youthful characteristics of the hair shaft.
    Note that minoxidil is a growth promotor and does not address DHT, which causes miniaturization. Hair loss is progressive by nature and should be slowed down via finasteride under prescription management.

    IMO ultimately the priority of medication for hairloss is maintenance. If you take an oral drug, you can't really target what it effects. Yeah great, it's making your hair much thicker, but after 15 years of taking it - what effects has it done on other areas of your body? Not saying you're guaranteed to have a cardiac arrest, but I don't think the longterm effects on your rest of the body are researched enough for this type of purpose. The fact it's not FDA approved for hairloss (despite the topical version being approved about 35 years ago) is also offputting for me personally.

    • @TheHairChemist
      @TheHairChemist  Před 5 měsíci +2

      This is why medical supervision is needed with these drugs and bi annual or annual prescriptions with checkup. If an issue arises the drug can be stopped to remove the effect. Low dosage is key for hair restoration.

    Hey mate, I’m a NW 2.5-3 and I’m just 21. I’ve been on fin and min for 4 and 3 years respectively. As you might be able to guess, I will need a hair transplant one day. My ultimate goal is to have a hairline & hair density similar to yours, for which I need detailed plans and roadmaps. I’d be EXTREMELY thankful to you if you can provide everything to me in detail. I can even pay if needed. Balding at a young age definitely sucks.

    I had been on finasteride 1mg and topical minoxidil but I didn't see much result and I have started thin at 16 and starting treatment at age 18 and 15/2/2023. I don't have any receding hairline but hairs are still relatively thin like before even using fin 1mg and topical minox but maybe it has controlled the hair loss. Additionally, no one can tell I have hairloss when they first look at me. I tried looking for prp but prices are very high, then I switched to oral minoxdil 1mg now just about 3-4 days, hopefully to see better result and have I made right choice?

      Yes, go with Pfizer, it's a massive pharmaceutical company with lots of resources to ensure quality and safety. Order from a reputable pharmacy with a licence such as Oxford. Their oral minoxidil is from Pfizer and has a near 100% 5* review for it. For finasteride I have been using propecia made by Merck, wonderful DHT blocking medicine with 0 side effects.

    Will there be a difference in effect on the eyelashes/eyebrows when taking 5mg oral minxodidil per day compared to 10mg/day? Because if you were to take 50mg/day your eyelashes wouldn’t be 10 times thicker and longer compared to 5mg/day would they?

      More is not better and comes with increased risk. 2.5mg is the perfect amount many will find. There is not much aesthetic difference between 2.5mg and 5mg, but the chances of side effects increase from 5 to 20% between 2.5mg to 5mg respectfully.

    Now 1 year on 1.25 and another 4 months with 2.5mg yet another benefit my hair is improved that touch more vertix almost good completely.
    I would have been NW3V before all meds i was on transition with long hair, but now its strange like 2 but better 1.75 but I did look at the picture from 10 years ago and the density of the hairline is just nowhere same and it was like NW 0.5 i was 19 now 29 but its note even as good qualify as 6 years ago wither but like 3 years ago in some spots and like 5 years in the already fuller spots.
