- With ZERO experience, we are attempting to ride the entire VA Creeper Trail (and then some) for a total of 51 miles! ...Are we crazy??
We are really pushing ourselves to see what we're capable of. Needless to say, we found our limit with this trip...
On the trip from Whitetop Mountain, through Damascus, and on to Abingdon, we got to ride through one of the most iconic bike trails in the US, and get to experience the changing autumn leaves, camaraderie with other riders, TONS of cool animals, and some of the best views that Virginia has to offer.

congrats 34 miles is still awesome for someone that don't ride bikes especially on bikes that you have never been on before! y'all storytelling and cinematography is getting better and better with each video!
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy....you dont say "We are back in the bus". You say, "We are home"!!
Haha true!! Though they are becoming almost synonymous for us nowadays 😄
What a beautiful fall day for the bike trip. Glad to see you two treat yourselves to dinner out every now and then- life is short.
You 2 need a tandem bike. My husband and I just got one this past summer. Such fun.
Now the mom in me is going to say I wish you 2 had helmets on. Please consider this next time you bike.
I love your channel.
Be safe and enjoy your adventure.
The memories you’re making will last a lifetime,
❤️
Beautiful ride. I think you did it right, taking your time and enjoying the sites rather than hurrying just to get all the miles in. Not always about the goal but to enjoy the journey to the goal as well. Thanks for taking us along.
To stay warm you need something around your necks. For 15 years I went out for 35 minutes for school recess time. I had a neck muff and was never cold. Minnesota 20 below with north winds I know cold. ❄️
Wow! We can't even imagine what 20 below feels like. 🥶 Thanks for the tip! 😊
cheeseburger in paradise, that had to be fun, nice views guys
Thank you for sharing this with us. Love that you are enjoying the beautiful state of VA. There is so much to see and do in VA. My daughter is in the middle of her short bus conversion and we both love your videos. You are such a nice couple. Wonderful seeing you live your best life. Have fun and stay safe out there :)
How exciting! Converting our short bus is definitely one of the coolest, funnest, and most rewarding things we've ever done. Good luck to your daughter, and thank you both for watching!! 💚💚
Hahaha downward Jimmy! Too funny!
Great job guys!! That's a long ride!!!
(It would definitely kill me)....but you guys did it!!! So proud of you!!!
Its especially impressive because you haven't ridden bikes for a long time.
Sending hugs!!!
🍃🤗🍃
Thank you!! 😊❤
Just think how much you would ride a bike when you were a kid. I rode mine miles everyday. Now, no so much! You will feel it tomorrow for sure. That was a very good ride, thanks for the views! Burger was huge!!+
🎃HAPPY HALLOWEEN🎃
Thanks!! Happy Halloween to you too! 🍁👻🎃
How fun! Beautiful scenery 🥰 Makes me want to go there!
I love that God has given you this wonderful opportunity to experience His creation. Continue to enjoy! 🥰😍🤗🙏
We have completed the Creeper Trail about three times and we love the cafe! Sorry you missed their delicious chocolate cake. Abington is beautiful too and make sure you check out the train.
You made a good decision to not try to go all the way back before 6:00. We rode the first part many years ago. Seventeen miles was a gracious plenty for us, so I am VERY proud of y'all for making the 34 miles!!! You really earned the burger! You both did really well! Maybe they have a magnet in town that you could get to commemorate finishing the whole thing!!!! Love from SC, Jane❤️🙏
M
Glad you got back home and was able to give back to community really enjoyed video. Stay safe!
Awesome ride and beautiful country. Thanks for taking us on the ride with you.
We have been full-time RV-ing for almost six years. If you are ever close to Powhatan VA (Cozy Acres Campground) let us know and stop by to say Hello. We love watching your adventures. My wife and I will be retiring March next year and have plans to travel quite a bit. Happy Trails……
I really enjoy your video it's good to see you both again. Y'all look good together please take care of yourself and God bless from your friend Robert
you guys need to set up a go fund me page so you can both get folding e bikes to take with you wherever you roam, so next time you hit this trail, you can ride the whole distance with plenty of time
That's a cool idea! We would love to have our own e bikes. I'm sure one day we'll talk ourselves into buying some! 😊
@@JimmyandNatalie If you contact several e bike suppliers, I am sure they will be happy to send you a pair for you guys to review and keep with the idea that you would do videos of riding them in different places and showcasing how great they are
@@JimmyandNatalie I mean you certainly have more than enough subscribers to warrant some company to send you a pair. I am surprised you have not done it already. Good luck! looking forward to seeing those videos.
@@peterfernandezjr5914 Great idea! We will probably reach out to a few companies and see if we can work something out. We'll keep our fingers crossed! 🤞😄
You go guys.love watching you guys do what you want to . your eyes are so Natalie. Stay warm as best as you can. Hope you make the bike ride your braver than me now I'm going to stop texting and enjoy the rest of your video.love you guys keep safe.
Congratulations on your bike ride. You two are so much fun. I really enjoy watching you guys. Natalie you are so sweet, Jimmy take care of that young Lady
That trail looks very cool to bicycle on .
Getting in shape for Banff!
Remember enjoy the trips don’t over do! Meeting Nature not Bosses! So Beautiful ! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
Loving your Journey.
Be safe & have fun, enjoy!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I did this last week. I road around Abingdon for a couple of miles. I needed up doing about 54 miles by time I got back to Damascus. This is an awesome ride.
Well done!!!! Making great memories.
I've been working since age 17/ 1990 with maybe a week off every 2 to 3 years I wish I knew then what I know now!! So funny to me to hear you look back at your life working. My wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis on our 1st anniversary 17years ago so I enjoy watching your journey since we are not able to travel.
Thank you for sharing this adventure! I'm hoping we can do this, too. However, we will probably only do the first 17 miles. I do like the suggestion made in another comment about using an ebike. Maybe then we can make the whole trip!
It was a lot of fun and the “Double-dog” was a lot harder than expected. We are looking forward to trying it again in the future and seeing if we can do the full 51!
And yes! We were really wishing we had ebikes towards the end!
Nice video, great job on the ride . You guys are strong lifting those bicycles over your heads. Woohoo!!!
How cool to be able to ride a beautiful bike trail like this one. So enjoyed the ride. Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely ride. The area is beautiful 🌻🌻🙀
The creeper trail is awesome. A FRIEND and I rode it several years ago. It looks like some great improvements. SO glad u decided to take this wonderful adventure. Love your videos We took our mountain bikes and rode from Abington to Damascus, took shuttle and rode trail down to Damascus.
What a beautiful ride that was. Thanks for sharing.
Check out Grayson Highlands State Park and see the wild ponies. They are beautiful and it’s a wonderful hike.
Beautiful scenery, thank you for sharing.
You guys are going to have youtube on fire 1million subs in the next year !!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
We can only hope!! 😄 Thank you for believing in us! 💚
I think that was a groundhog not a beaver that you saw. But you got a longer look at it that we did, I think.
I think you might be right... We were close to Beaverdam Creek, but I couldn't get close enough to get a good look at the tail 😂
Nice ride. If I went that far I'd need an ambulance. lol
You two make me smile 😃 thanks for your authentic selves. Be blessed in this chapter of your lives.
I just found your channel! Nice job with the video and glad you enjoyed the Creeper Trail. It is a lot of fun and very busy during leaf season. I realized when I started watching that I actually saw you all on 10/15 in Boone, NC parked at Walmart. I was camping on the parkway and trying to work and needed better cell signal so I came into Boone for the day. Jimmy, I think you were doing something on the roof when I saw you. Small world!
Thanks! And yep, that was definitely us! You probably caught us when Jimmy was cleaning off the solar panels. 😂 That's so cool! It really is a small world 😄
Great job on peddling 34 miles in one day!🚵♂️🚵♀️ Whew! My legs would be wobbly after one mile!😂 I hope you have something for leg cramps, just in case. If you have Vicks vaporub, that works. If you wake up in the middle of the night with leg cramps, eat a spoon of mustard. I know you have that on hand👍 I was worried about the bees!🐝🐝 But, with all that water, aren't there mosquitoes? Or, is it too cold? Just me overthinking. lol🤗 That was fun, watching you two.💞 In Hawaii, we have downhill cycling from the top of Haleakala at 10,000 ft. elevation and winding down to the bottom of this dormant volcano, located on the island of Maui.🤩
Thankfully, it's reaching the time of year where the mosquitos aren't too bad! The bees were a bit of a nuisance, but I think the place we were sitting sells icecream most of the week, so we really should have expected them 😂 Downhill biking on Haleakala sounds amazing. 😍 Maybe one day we can do that! Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊💚
Good for ya'll! I really enjoy your videos !
Congrats on the ride.....Great video. 👍
Thank you!! 👍
I knew Jimmy wasn't going back up that hill after how relaxed he was in that swing.
Since you guys don't have a video this week (3/18/24) I thought I would enjoy one of your earlier videos before I started following you. It was great! Hope all is well!
I’ve been binge watching all of your videos. Absolutely beautiful scenery today! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
Keep up the awesome videos
Really beautiful ride, guys! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!! ❤
Such a beautiful ride.
Super fun!!!! Thanks for sharing....
Beautiful trail!!! Congratulations for doing the trail!!
You are right, the scenery is beautiful. Congrats on accomplishing your ride. I'm sorry you didn't have time to finish the return to Damascus from Abbingdon. I love watching both of you. You give me hope.
So this was in Virginia? I love biking on trails. A few years back I did a lot of that - I hit 32 miles once. :) Haven't biked on a trail in a long time. Would love to. But other endeavors consume my time right now. Thanks for the video!
Yes! This was in southern Virginia, very close to the NC border (less than 2 miles away, at some points!). The Creeper Trail is very beginner-friendly, which was lucky for us 😊 Thanks for watching!! 💚
Love this video! You guys always do such a good job of showing us what you are up to!
Thank you!! ❤️
Lovely to see wear you rode, burger looked good…….drooling xxx
It is extra nice that you took the time to get "the shots" which meant backtracking a zillion times. The scenery is fantastic, how I wish I was young enough to again get out and take pictures - did I tell you that I was once a "Pro". Yep, I even had my own business shooting weddings to fund my excursions. Even had a large sailboat and loved shooting them. Now I'm an armchair follower. Thanks for the trip today and am looking forward to many more. p.r.morehouse - author
I got sore just watching you two !........I really felt it!........it's a good feeling.......that Cheeseburger was the Bomb !.....love your show!
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Awesome stuff guys
My legs almost fell off just watching 🤣
How fun. I've been on a few long rides like that. You can definitely be proud to have done it. It sounds easy in theory but when you're actually in the middle of it, it's a little harder than it sounded, lol. Thanks for taking us all along. Be safe
Very cool adventure.
First, congrats on the 34 miles. That looked challenging and fun. Second, Jimmy-you have to set the "catch" rules before tossing. That'll get you in trouble. Finally, Natalie-I love the throw-back use of "book it." I haven't heard that one in a while! P.S. those cheeseburgers and tots looked awesome.
My wife and I are 67 and 68 and plan to ride from one end to the other in about a week on our own Trek's. Looks like fun! We are older but crazy fit for our age. You too are an adorable couple, lots of fun to watch.
But we will just do the 33 miles once with a shuttle. Should take about 4 hours total we think, maybe 5.
Nice scenery!
Lovely seeing you both having fun in the sun 🌞 what a magical day ... beautiful vlog once again... What a lovely place to cycle around 😉 great to see you treat yourselves to a lovely dinner , I'm sure you both slept well that night. Sending much love from Italy 🇮🇹 Ciao Wendy 🇭🇲.
so much fun you guys.
good vid, thumbs up👍🚴
I've been on that trail , loved it beautiful place. Very much worth the ride. Enjoy !!!
We absolutely LOVED it 😊 The scenery was amazing and the weather was perfect! Ignoring all the soreness we had after, it really was a perfect day 😄 Haha
Loved this together, God loves Yah.Thanks for a bike ride , happy and fun to bike along in the Autumn weather is awesomeness with yah sweet ride. Glad you arrived! Was the trail with white rocks ledges, interesting terrain.
51 miles WOW! ( I would have been asking, where are the electric bikes!) lol🙂
We saw several people with electric bikes on the trail, and were only a little bit jealous! 😂
Beautiful ride! I'm horrible on a bike. I used to ride all the time when I was a kid and I've heard once you learn you never forget. It's a lie. I can't turn me and the bike fall over lol
😂😂 Lol, I (Natalie) can relate! This was my second time using a bike that only has hand-brakes, and I struggled a bit 😅
I'm so happy for both of you. It seems that things are going well for you two. What a beautiful ride that was. i just Love the up close and personal peeks. What a creation the Lord has made! Your burgers were such a good choice and you really deserved to treat yourselves to a nice meal out. See you down the road but until then, take care of yourselves and each other. God bless.
Fun fact: In my 20s I flew over my handlebars and into the dirt on that trail. Since the trail was an old railroad track, COAL was in the dirt, and it TATTOOED my face , shoulder and wrist coal black. The ER tried everything and nothing worked to remove it. I had to go under anesthesia with a plastic surgeon to get it off lol. I still have some scars from it nearly 20 years later ha.
Lovin' the view from your office! 🚴🏽♂️🤙🏼
Haha not a bad place to be on a Monday! 😄
What a beautiful late summer = fall ride, that country is so very pretty, rest up and stay safe, thanks for sharing a great video,
I enjoy your videos. "You are the bestest" please don't stop what you doing. Keep up the awesome video's and your funny moments. Regards
Abington is my “ancestral” home. Never been there, though. So fun to see the scenery. I felt your biking pain! Good job, guys!
U both did a good call on not to continue the ride back. I know you both are sore. Good ride love thewhat l seen.
Back when I was a student at MSU, I was curious about a nearby state park shown on the map as "proposed". I figured there was nothing there yet, and there wasn't. Just a sign. It was a nice 35 mile round trip though. :-) Just not as scenic as yours.
Good Job guys, at my age I think I would have gotten a mile and that would have been it. I'm in my late 60's and have a mountain bike but talking myself into riding is a struggle. Lol!!! Ok glad you had fun, I did just watching and seeing the scenery and the fall colors. As always "Enjoy The Adventure!!"
Great job! Thanks for sharing your ride!
Think if I went that far I would need an e bike...nice seeing you guys enjoying life at that age!!!
Awesome video guys keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful place … love watching you guys.
What an awesome ride. I think you were wise not to double back. I enjoyed seeing the scenery. Hope you're not too sore lol. Looking forward to next video. I hope this Memaw can start my adventure soon.
Looked like fun y'all! Great video and thank you for sharing this! A good burger is ok every now and then even for this vegan 😊 Much love from Texas 💜
Ahh fresh air ☺️
So cool. My legs b tired by now. Beautiful country side
We go from there to Damascus with the boy scouts. Good thing about White Top to Damascus is it's mostly downhill :) Great ride. I hope you were smart and got the comfy seat bikes :) Last time I did it the night before it got down in the 20's with tent camping. Fun times.
I'm right there with you about the cold. I'm originally from Texas but lived in Florida for a year. I would rather deal with the humidity than cold weather. Wishing I would not have left Florida for Oklahoma.
I'm tired just thinking about biking that far!! Y'all are awesome!!
ooh! We're only 2 hours from there. I think I know where we're headed this weekend. We just got ebikes! Great video.
This looked like so much fun!!
Thanks, it really was! We had the best time!! 😄
“Is this what photosynthesis feels like?” 🤣
Congratulations 🎉
I love the cycling content. You have a new fan here. How often do you upload???
Thanks, we're glad you enjoyed it because we really had a great time making this video. 😄 We upload every Monday, at 2pm EST. Thanks for watching!
Well done 34 miles love ur videos pals 🚌👍👍
It looks like you had a very fun day. Good for you. :)
Thanks fo sharing this ride. Looks like a great activity even for novice cyclists.
Thanks so much for keeping it real....safe travels your friends from Pile Lake Saskatchewan Canada
I live at the Md/Va/WVa borders and we have the C&O canal to hike & bike & camp at. It runs all the way from DC to No. Md. originally it went into Ohio. It is a Federal Park. My son rides his bike up occasionally and it’s 61 miles one way. He lives in DC. Lots of “rails to trails” around here also.
