Great video. Picked one of these up myself just because of how iconic it is. I did wanna try to use it in a few games so I upgraded the spring and it performed very well. Only issue ofcourse is the weight after one short game my arms where killing me lugging this beast around.

Yes it is heavy, but it's better than a gym membership 😂

Something worth remembering about the WA2000, is that it isnt meant to be carried across battlefields. After the Munich Olympic Massacre, the germans realized that their standard issue firearms available to the german police (yes, the military had better stuff, but there are regulations keeping military from acting in domestic affairs in Germany, and most European countries) so the police needed to get a new, long range firearm for counter terrorism.
Specialists are meant to carry it from the locker to the car, from the car to the vantage point, and then back down to the car. In that context, weight aint all that important.

Here's what I don't get though: it's a gorgeously crafted piece of kit. Sought after by collectors and Hitman cosplayers alike. But why is it so expensive and not gas/CO2? I don't get why they'd make it so close to real life and then go "oh it's a bolt action without a bolt action."
I really want one and I'd but one in a heartbeat if it actually were semiauto. Hell I'd accept electric. That wood and metal construction looks so sturdy too.

That is what keeps me from buying it too. It is a looker, no doubt. If it were only self-loading, either electric or gas-operated. Then, the fake mag would not have to be a fake and the weird BB-mag inside this airsoft WA2000 would not be necessary. That concept ruins it for me, unfortunately. I would love to have this rifle for my skirms, but it is simply too impractical, compared to all the other replicas I can field instead. I don't want to buy a replica as a show piece. If it doesn't work in the field, it's literally useless.

Nice, just found one of them in a shop and am currebtly considering getting one.
I always found the "range test" to be useless in these kinds of videos. What is interesting is groupings over distance. Meaning we want the gun viced down tight, and distance clearly stated.
Manually handling and aiming the gun gives us no proper idea of the accuracy and spread of the gun as the gunner itself may be shaky, or worse, trying to correct his aim to come closer to the target.

Thanks for the input, I have just bought a shooting vice for when I do these kind of videos again. I have had a few people ask for it so it's on my to do list

Indeed. Also, using 0.20 BBs for a sniper rifle is kind of odd. I would not begin to consider using anything less than 0.38 in such a sniper replica. My lightest BBs are 0.25, which I only use in my pistols for practice. In the field, I have 0.30, 0.32, 0.36, 0.38 and 0.40, depending on the type of pistol, assault rifle, DMR or sniper.
Grouping is decisive. Also, any lateral deviation, which indicates nozzle and bucking issues (and can therefore be mitigated, so that these issues are not really proving much about the quality of any gun for that matter). I can shoot my GBB Deagles on the 60 meter range, here in my local airsoft center, with virtually straight trajectories, once my hopup has been properly set. Grouping is then another thing, lacking a vice and optics.
So, yes, these range test demos are usually useless, as they do not prove anything about an airsoft replica. We know it can shoot BBs. No one doubted that in the first place. We need to know as how a replica handles, how it behaves, what it takes to maintain it, how the spare parts can be exchanged, what upgrading options exist, etc. Having BBs flying out of the muzzle is obvious.

Its nice if slightly under powered,it would be worth upgrading,

For a sniper, I would expect to have it 2.3 Joule, so that I can use it as a sniper here in the Netherlands. But, upgrading should not be a real concern, it is assumed. That would not be an argument for me not to buy this WA2000. My problem is the impracticality in the field, as well as the dissonance between the original real-steel WA2000 and this airsoft replica. It should have been self-loading, like the real deal. Either electric or gas, but self-loading. The fake mag should not have to be fake. That is what kills it for me, unfortunately.
