- Ngablak, Indonesia - Cooler temperatures, beautiful green scenery, surrounded by the Mount Andong and hospitable locals.
We started the day off with some snacks from Ibu. Well, not some, we started the day off with a lot of snacks. Ibu really made sure we were not going to be left hungry. After snacking on a few staples from the area and buying a few things from the outside as well, we started to explore the area.
First, to see the local farm life. Rich with fertile soil and produce that is shipped all over Indonesia locally. Tobacco, dill, peppers, scallions, and more. The farmers were so nice as well, they even gave me some free scallions!!
Of course, we had to come back and check out how the cooking was doing. Ibu of course let me have a little taste test. The beef with the browned coconut is still one of my favorite dishes I ate on the whole trip.
Now it was time for some adventure, we got to take a 4x4 jeep up the mountain. And wouldn't you know it, at the time (well almost) was a nice coffee shop with a gorgeous view!
On the way down, we got to stop right where I wanted, the local market. This is where you really learn how this part of Indonesia is a hot spot for growing all things produce around the surrounding areas. Of course, you have to get a cheap dessert if you are going to stop by as well!
Back to the kitchen we went and wow, Ibu had been busy while we were gone. An absolute feast of a meal. I must say everything was delicious, for me though, the sambal's, cow tendon, and the dish with the dill were absolutely fantastic.

When you are the host , it's best to honor your guests and treat them well the best you can like the family did for you. It's a blessing to be able to do that.
True that!
Indonesia is blessed with a heavenly soil, the climate, the geography, we can plant almost everything.
Yes so true
The taste of Nusantara food with so many spices in it 😋❤️🤍
Wow what a feast!
She looked like she enjoyed cooking for you!
Lov your videos
Ty
Gendar pecel is clear winner here. I could eat it every single day.
Excellent video Max! We love seeing you mix in with the people of Indonesia and show all of us some of their culture and customs. The food and countryside is so beautiful. Cheers!
Max, you’re not a stranger. Not anymore at least. I’d wager it’s safe to say you are a son of Indonesia now 😉 Love your videos! Your explanations and elaborations of tastes, textures, aromas, and sights are not only on point but very intuitive. Also somehow give me Bourdain’s and Wiens’ vibes and a few other names I can’t remember off the top my head hahaha…
May every bite you take always be mantul and every broth you sip be sedap. Here’s to scrumptious garlic and shrimp paste sambals. Cheers! ✌️
The fact that I am from Ngablak makes me so proud. Anyway thank you for coming here
The title is 20 cents desert while the entire video is almost mukbang binging on delicious food 😋

At 1:54 she said ꦠꦺꦁꦩꦿꦶꦏꦶꦲꦱꦿꦺꦥ꧀ (Têng mriki asrêp) or “It’s cold here” in high register Javanese and then she repeated it again at 1:56 but in Indonesian “Di sini dingin” 😅 Which is weird, because most of us just assume white people can wear their swimsuits in winter and they’d be fine 😆
Ah thank you for helping me understand!
Maybe they wonder how max doesn't fell cold

0:56 ... botanically, it`s more as fennel, perenial one, like the bronze fennel but in green,... I guess... not sure though,... I am proud of your knowledge of many things growing there in indonesia though, aside of many other things... not just making videos and laughing with stupid face and bad attitude as some local told them it`s Fanili etc... like some other foreign youtuber ... who only cares of making and downloading videos as much as possible without knowledge of what they are doing or the culture and surroundings or the people he is filming...
Hey max , love from Pakistan
