  • Pokemon theories are something that are a lot of fun for fans to create and talk about, but not all theories are created equal. While some theories are great, others can be crazy and straight up unbelievable, but that doesn't mean that they don't make perfect sense either! In this video I'll be going over five Pokemon theories that are way too ridiculous to actually be true, but still make perfect sense like they could be! I hope you enjoy!

    I have a theory: The pokemon regions themes are based on things that you learn in highschool:
    Kanto - Mutation/genetics. That´s why you have pokemon like mew, mewtwo, ditto, eevee that are highly related to those concepts and some other pokemon like doduo (a bird based on an extinct animal but with two heads) and also pokemon like grimer and muk that are literal toxic waste (which is associated with mutations). That´s also why Kanto is the region with more poison type pokemon.
    Johto- History. That´s why the whole Johto region so highly tied with the past of the region itself, legends, myths, antique buildings, etc. Like the bellsprout tower and such. That´s also why there are pokemon like the unown.
    Hoenn - Ecology: different climates/enviroments (that´s why it´s so diverse and the evil teams are centered around those aspects as well)
    Sinnoh - Religion. The story of arceus as the pokemon god and the creation of the pokemon world.
    Unova - Ethics. I think I don´t have to explain too much this one since it´s pretty clear considering the story being related about if it´s okay or not to have pokemon in pokeballs and use them in battles.
    Kalos - Art. The whole region is full of artist and things related to beauty. The champion is also an actress.
    Alola - Evolution / natural selection . How the different environments may affect how the species look.
    Galar - Sports. It´s pretty clear why if you have seen what they´ve shown so far.

      Giboit I very much agree with everything you’ve said, although I don’t think it necessarily is specific to things we learn in high school, it’s just very much important sections of our society, and important ongoing discussions that should always be debated and discussed. I do think the weakest of those is the sport link, but if it’s in fact the idea of corruption in sport and bias and all that like a lot of people are speculating, then that is an important topic. But I love your points, I’m not criticising at all, just inputting my ideas ☺️

    Here is one that may be a good theory or a bad theory: Eevee is native to Kalos. Eevee is given as a gift in every game except Kalos and Alola and Sinnoh. In Alola it is found on a Ranch so it is likely yet another invasive species as is the theme of that game. In Sinnoh it is only found in the old man's garden which is where pokemon from other regions can be found. In Kalos it is found close to where the elemental sones come from near the ancient weapon. It would make sence that a pokemon that is native to that area should be able to evolve with many different elemental stones.

      I think it mostly stems from Ash's age always being stated. He's always "10 year old Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town." Sure, other characters may not seem to age either, but you could always argue that they just appear to not age that much because their ages aren't stated so often. It doesn't make sense but it still follows the logic of most animated TV show characters. Spongebob hasn't seemed to age at all either but because we're not constantly told his age, it's not a focal point. The fact that Ash is always stated to be 10 100% confirms he hasn't aged. Though I haven't watched the anime in a while, so I can't say if they haven't called Brock 15 still in one of the later seasons.

    • @shane55pwnt
      @shane55pwnt Před 4 lety +9

      Personally, the only explanation I can come up with is that people in the Pokemon universe age slower and their years are longer. I mean it's practically impossible that all of Ash's adventures would be able to fit within 364 days, especially considering the amount of episodes there are and the fact that many episodes take place over many days.

  • @murtajiz545
    @murtajiz545 Před 4 lety +100

    Theory:
    *it’s only been about 3 years since ash left on his journey.*
    Evidence: If we look into the aspect that 1 week of our lives equates to one day in the Pokémon anime, then it’s only been about 2.5-3 years. It’s been about 22 years since the anime first aired. There are 52 weeks in one year, meaning that each year that goes by for us, only 52 days go by in the Pokémon world. 22 x 52 = 1,144. This means only 1,144 days have passed since ash left on his journey. 1,144 / 365 = 3.134246575342466.
    In conclusion: In XYZ, Ash genuinely does seem more mature and more skilled than when he left, I can honestly see him being 13 years old. As for Sun and Moon, he’s on vacation! Obviously he’s not gonna try as hard as he would if he was in a legit region with a Competitive league, which Alola didn’t even have until Ash arrived on the scene.

    Taking this way too seriouslly, but you asked for our opinion after all. 😉
    In your theory about the Legendary birds, originally being from Johto, it seemed like you applied meta logic to the in universe lore and vice versa, which lead to a flaw in your argument.
    While I absolutely believe that the Legendary Birds, Ho-oh and Lugia belong together as a group of legendaries as well, that does not mean they have to be from the same region.
    You mentioned for example that Kanto is a technology oriented region. This refers to the theme of the Kanto games from a story telling perspective.
    In universe however myths and legends would still exist in a society that values technology, even if they would have less impact and be less likely to be believed.
    Furthermore if those myths turned out to be true and ancient beasts/birds awakened in the present, the current beliefs and values of the geographic region that happened to be their resting place wouldn't matter at all.
    What's more, Pokemon regions in-universe seem to be political unions, similar to the real world's nations.
    Mythical beings would likely not care about such arbitrary borders, might well have existed long before they were established and it would if course have no bearing at all on the place they first came into being.
    Kant and Johto are located right next to each other, so what makes it so unlikely that the 5 birds were divided up between them?
    Instead of the Legendary Birds being "from Johto" all 5 of them belong to both Kanto and Johto.

    I have a random theory that I doubt is right:
    The real reason Pikachu lost to trips snivy was because in gen five Pikachu had lower base health!(I doubt this is right because I don’t actually have Pikachu in Pokémon white) I noticed this in Alpha Sapphire where I noticed that my cosplay Pikachu was at the same level as some of my other Pokémon but had a lot lower base health. I’m pretty sure the other Pokémon had a base health that was over one hundred, while Pikachu had around eighty. I didn’t use any items or berries that affect the base health. I also noticed the same thing in Moon and I had a lower leveled Pokémon with more health. Then again the Pikachu I had on my team was Ash’s Pikachu... anyway even though that’s probably not correct it makes the most sense to me, but it also could be that maybe Zekrom weakened Pikachu or something.

    I love the Kanto as a bridge theory. It could be the earliest (technically most energetic) game in the bicurrential temporal shape in the 5th dimension, the ground zero for the scientific discovery that rippled outward both directions in time and severed the inbound timelines of the place at the epicenter of the event, or confluence of events, that gives rise to the fractured, multiversal reality in which Pokemon takes place.

  • @CombatFan134

    Personal theory: The reason Ash was 10 for so long is because the Pokemon world's measure of a year is longer than ours. A year is the measure of time it takes a planet to revolve around the sun. So for the Pokemon world, a year for them is decades for us. Think of it as one year for them being thousands of days.
    Extended from this:
    The reason they don't age the same as us within the same chronological time is because the humans of that world evolved (heh) to be more durable and "long living" to survive all the dangers of their world. Hence Ash being able to tank a flamethrower to the face and carry a Larvitar.

    I just found your channel today and I am *obsessed*! Awesome video from an awesome channel!! I actually really love the last theory about Kanto being the bridge between our world and the world of Pokemon; I think the idea fits so well with the multiverse theme Pokemon has been exploring in recent years, it makes sense with the spiritual beliefs of the region and it really does explain why Mew was discovered in South America which really bothered me; and explains why the Sinnoh region shape is based off an island region of Japan as well (I'm about 95% the shape of Sinnoh is based off the most northern region of Japan which is supposedly why the further north in Sinnoh you go, the snowier it gets), and it even fits with the original real-world bug-catching inspiration of the original games! So this theory, as nuts as it is, actually makes a lot of sense! 😗 I really hope someone takes this theory to the next level and makes a funky map or guide to this world to show where the different regions are in comparison to real world places and even show where real world references are made inside Pokemon; cuz that would be insanely cool and instantly become my personal headcanon! 😍 Now all we really need to ask ourselves is.. what country in South America should we start exploring to find Mew!!

The amazon rainforest would make sense as Mew is found in a forest in South amaerican with a Rainforest been a type of forest (I think). As for the Andes, it may be that Mew hides in cracks in the mountains as Mewtwo also hides in a cave.

    I too have a theory on why Ash doesn't age. In the first pokemon movie Mew vs. Mewtwo Ash attempts to stop Mew and Mewtwo's fighting. He succeeds but gets turned to stone. He was then revived by the tears of the pokemon but my theory is the tears brought him to heaven. He thinks he was revived and still is on his journey, at the end of the anime he could realizes he is dead all his friends fade away. He then becomes a ghost and goes to earth but stays on Mt. Silver with ghost versions of his pokemon as red which also explains why Ash has had the same main series pokemon but Espon, Arcanine, and Machamp which replaced the pokemon he didn't use before he died (krabby , tauros and Muk) hence why there three pokemon ash didn't have and that means Ash=Red too

    I've always had issues with the "Ash never ages" theory because the anime (and fiction in general) will not have timeframes based on the real world and therefore its in-universe timeframe wouldn't be 20+ years. It's like asking why the Simpsons didn't age over 30+ years.

    Building a bit on that last theory-what if all the regions are acctually the places they're based on-just in the far future? Countries irl change names and boarders all the time, so it makes sense if the pokemon regions have different names and don't look exactly like their real world counterparts. As for why the kanto games mention real world places? Part of it may be because being the first games they take place further back on the time line, ie, before many places had name changes. At least the south america reference can be explained by that being a whole continent and not just one region. We never really get a world map that shows what continents in the pokemon world look like or are named.

    Yeah... Theory 5 sounds a bit too similar to that creepypasta I've heard that declares that Pokémon are essentially descended from mutants created by some experiment-gone-wrong.
    Basically, the story goes that an international team of scientists working on a matter-energy transfer device wind up having a calamitous lab mishap that causes enough destruction to rival the atomic bombs, a quarantine is effected, yadda-yadda-yadda, Pokémon are born from the ashes (pun not intended) of the scientific catastrophe.

      That theory sounds... ridiculous, to say the least. Technically, in the Pokemon universe, the Pokeball isn't even 100 years old, neither is Mewtwo, both of which are considered the greatest feats and achievements in their world. Complete manipulation of matter on such a large scale could've easily wiped out the entirety of the human race, meaning only Pokemon would be left to rein on the planet. Where exactly did you hear this theory?

    I think that Alcremie of Galar is the creator of the Whipped Dream item, aka the item needed to evolve Swirlix into Slurpuff via trade. Alcremie is currently known for making whipped cream for patisseries and bakers. While the image doesn't show a strawberry like those found on Alcremie, I would be shocked if the Whipped Dream item didn't consist of whipped cream.

  • @ChampionRevilo
    @ChampionRevilo Před 4 lety

    The reason Kanto is named Kanto and that there are so many real world references in gen 1 is simply because in the begining, Pokémon was much different. There were both Pokémon and regular animals and it actually was on our Earth. It just became more and more of it's own seperate thing as new Pokémon replacing more animals got introduced and I guess they thought changing the names of real places for fictional names might be good to keep calm the sensitive people or to create more of a fantasy feeling.
