    If I'm paying $100 for a seafood buffet, you better believe I am ignoring those fruits, those desserts, the steaks, potatoes, corn, freaking ANYthing that isn't from the ocean. For $100, I'm going to make damn sure that Poseidon hates me.

      Have you personally worked as a sous chef or pantry prep in a commercial kitchen? If you have I would be surprised at your opinion.
      Actually, as a former chef and restaurant owner I can assure you that the difference between scratch-made tartar and commercial package is _significant_ - even using commercial mayonnaise as the base. Also, scratch-made tartar is quickly and easily made, even in large quantity. And the quality differce is astounding, which is not the case with 1000 Island Dressing that you mention.
      This is not true with scratch-made mayo vs. commercial mayo. First off, premium restaurant "institutional" mayo is better than consumer versions you buy at the grocery store. Most people do not know this. I personally keep 4-6 kinds of scratch-made mayo at home at all times. But for straight mayo, I do not bother to make it. Instead I buy premium institutional at the restaurant supply. There is another reason _not_ to make mayo from scratch in a restaurant setting; which is 1) its shelf stability due to raw eggs and 2) both the consistency, quality and time when having panty prep producing the large quanities (2 to 5 gallons at a time) needed in a commercial kitchen. Since mayo is a base for so many other sauces, it is simply not practical to make, and it is more expensive to boot.
      Besides all of that... it's the _packets_ that are ridiculous. That is a lazy manager/owner decision, as no self respecting chef would _ever_ serve a packet. Ever. It's a complete joke! :D

    • @GorgeousRoddyChrome
      @GorgeousRoddyChrome Před 7 lety +19

      I agree. Ken's _is_pretty good. And packet are easier. But exceptionally more expensive. But so is buying institutional seafood dishes completely prepped, frozen, and ready to heat and serve. Which some restaurants do, and most diners cannot tell the difference.
      But this is not Long John Silver's, or even Red Lobster. And THAT is the point.
      At this *ultra high price-point,* packets are not a good sign. It shows a lack of proper management and kitchen cheffery; meaning that for what you are paying, you are getting ripped off. :)

    This restaurant is owned by my extended family, the lobster is truly worth the price alone, there is outdoor seating for seafood based apps that are more affordable, also the alpacas are named Pedro and Grover.

Worth every penny.. it's not the type of place you can go every weekend but if you ask me it's perfect for a Birthday or somethin'. I love seafood and this place is perfect if you wanna do some damage and smash some Lobster, Shrimp and Haddock. Not to mention Steak and Chicken etc. I strap on the feed bag and put on a show here a couple times a year and never regret droppin the coin. I highly recommend this spot..5 All Day!!
