    Very good video! How do you set the dash to test mode? I just see you turning on a external power supply and the dash is in test mode. Is there a separat pin on the dash connectors to supply with 12VDC for test mode?

    Is it a possibility if I take my cluster out, to repair both the temp and fuel gauges that my key won’t work to turn my car back on? I had a 2008 Audi A3 which I needed to replace a ignition switch and barrel, once i did I had triggered immobilizer and my car never turned on again without needing the dealer to re program my key. So I’m afraid of repairing these little motors and my 2004 3.2 v6 TT not turning on again without having the dealership program my key.

    Hello there great video I must say. Slight problem I have is when I bought the car my traction control light wouldn't come on. I've done a search with VAGCOM and no issues. Tried a different speedo and light comes on. My question is how do i get to the bulb or display to see if it's been covered in the past?

    Hi! Thanks for the video! I replaced the fuel gauge motor and put the needle to "full" (while ignition is on) since the tank of my car is currently full . When I switch the ignition off, the needle does not go back to "empty" but stays somewhere just below "half". When I switch the ignition on again, the needle goes to "full" again. Do you have an idea what the problem could be?

    • @saschaadam3328

      And another question: the needle of my temperature gauge is slightly tremblig after reassembling the speedometer. What could be the reason?

    Are still repairing insturment clusters? If you are, can you repair a cluster off a BMW motorcycle 2005. R1200GS. The speedometer & tachometer are not working. Thanks. Robert

    Why not use VCDS and set the tank sensor higher like on 135. A lot easier

      @akspeedo  Před 3 lety

      Not everybody has VCDS, James

    My temp needle jumps around, a cold car will start at 90 degrees then while idling the needle goes to 130 and then while driving it will suddenly drop to 50 hitting the dash sometimes puts the needle close to 90 .
    Temp in the AC screen (code 49) corresponds with the needle, when temp gauge is "overheating" AC temp reading says 122 degrees, when temp needle is at 50 AC reading says -10.
    Is this the pointer motor thats faulty or?

    • @akspeedo
      @akspeedo  Před 4 lety

      Hi, if the temp reading is incorrect on the ACC, I'd check the and replace the sensor first, cheers

    i have 2000 audi tt that fuel gauge doesnt work. i used my scanner to read fault codes in the DashBoard and it gave me a code
    00771 fuel level sensor (G) short circuit to earth. does that mean the fuel gauge motor is bad? do you think changing the little motor of the fuel gauge is the fix for the short to earth.?
    thanks a lot for your videos.

      If you never got a reply yes. You need to change the little mothers out.

    • @steffenscheibler5849
      @steffenscheibler5849 Před 5 lety

      The the motors have a creeping short to the ground/earth, which causes them to read high is the underlying issue...so yes. You need to change the motors.
      Magneti Marelli has a lot to answer for as a lot of components in the Audis of that era suffer from such stupid problems and almost always, at the heart of it, is some little thingamabob from Magneti Marelli.

    • @thomasroberts7349
      @thomasroberts7349 Před 5 lety

      No its not the gauge motor. Its the sending unit in the tank that is bad. Common problem. Drop the tank and replace the sending unit.

    • @akspeedo
      @akspeedo  Před 5 lety

      @@thomasroberts7349 Hi Thomas, thanks for your input, normally a pointer motor fault, but as you've said, the sender unit in the tank can be faulty, but not a common problem, thanks

    0:40 and 8:05 looks very much like the fuel and temp needle illumination is out as well? You really should have reflowed the resistor on the other side of the board (immediately above and top centre of the LCD glass) while you were in there.

      Yes, noticed this later, was fixed before we handed the speedometer back to the customer, thanks for your input
