- Jules Verne's ultimate travel classic has inspired countless journeys and international adventures since its publication in 1873. Around the World in Eighty Days (Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours) tells the story of Phileas Fogg and his valet, Jean Passepartout, who circumnavigate the globe in... nineteen hundred and twenty hours, or a hundred and fifteen thousand two hundred minutes.
The fictional story starts in London on Wednesday, October 2, 1872. Fogg has accepted a wager for £20,000 (approximately £2.1 million in 2020), set by his fellow members at the Reform Club.

Read the novel to experience all of the mishaps and escapades along the way! Countries visited include the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Egypt, India, Singapore, China, Japan, and the United States.
Google Earth was used to map out the trip. Photographs and paintings of the locations are largely from the late 19th century. Some audio from Around the World in 80 Days (1989).

The version with Pierce Brosnan is the only good version of this novel: it follows the action of the book, and the changes are wonderful and fully reveal Fogg's character, as well as his love for Aouda. I'm glad that the clip includes Brosnan's Fog, the music from the series and especially his unforgettable final phrase: "Gentlemen, it's exactly nine o'clock." Shall we play a game of whist?”
