- This video is part of a series created from footage of Eugene Stoner and Mikhail Kalashnikov meeting in Virginia in 1990. All the footage is courtesy of the Smithsonian Institution Archives. All I have done is cut some of the waiting time between tapes out and tried to fix the audio. Otherwise, what you are seeing is entirely unadulterated.
Feel free to ask any questions about the various topics of the video in the comments. I will do my best to answer them.

How rude giving this man a Chinese AK
The Chinese made Polytech Legend. Was probably the finest import AK. Ever available in the USA. (Milled Receiver). The Norinco variants were great quality as well. Chrome lined barrels, forged trunions, etc. Russian AK’s for the American civilian market never really became a reality. Due to 94 assault weapons ban. And the ridiculous 922R laws. The Russian Saigas and Molot Vepr rifles that were later imported. In “sporting configurations”. Had to be converted while complying to the 922R laws regulating. The number of foreign made parts vs American made in a non- sporting rifle. In 2014 Obama, banned the import of Russian made firearms.
Its America. They have like the worst gun laws on the planet. Not only they have embargo on everything and their domestic production sucks, but they make real weapons crippled by stripping them out of auto sears and another crutial components. Not only this piece of shit is Chinese, but also made in garage by some bum with hammer and pliers

full auto is banned in us
@@therealsajad No they're not. Any registered before 1986 are fully transferable to another person. Any full auto after 1986 requires an SOT with a valid FFL. Even in the 90's all they had to do was find a dealer of NFA items, such as suppressors. They could have taken a full auto M16 and AK to the range. I don't see why they didn't do that. This was filmed in 1990, so there was no shortage of freshly registered full autos they could have used if they didn't locate an NFA dealer.

They joked about a Kalashnikov-Stoner hybrid. In 2021 there are several guns like that, including the CMMG mutant, a Daewoo, the ARAK, and several others. I like the Daewoo the best personally.
I'm partial to the K1 as well
The Daewoo k1 and k2's are hybrids of the ak and AR-15 platforms. The k1 is a submachine gun, while the K2 is an assault rifle, and features a folding stock that resembles that of the fal. Both firearms are still used by the ROK armed forces in present day.

@ET Hardcorgamer ya, I don't know if you have ever shot a full auto AK-47 but it's a LOT more fun than a semi
@ET Hardcorgamer the nice thing about a real AK47 ( which is full auto) is their select fire, so you can switch your safety selector to full, safe , or semi . What I wouldn't give to see John Moses Browning, John Garand, and all these guys together! It bums me out we ever have to use these in defense against another human, and it can't always be like these range get together's, in my opinion. Hard to tell if these times are the man, or the young man in us. These two guys, both Military Men, both firearms engineers. Eugene did awesome. Mikhail's firearm safety was just IMPECCABLE. I expected a Lil old school Russian salt, but it was super professional. Whole interview was a HUGE treat. John Browning, Sam Colt, all these guys. It's just amazing seeing how they made these with love and care. Even though we sadly need em for self defense, it's great to have them just in case, as well as the range days and hunting. The history and the chance to get to know these guys, it's all been worth it to share that.
I don't think Mr stoner was ready for that first round but it's amazing to see two legendary gun designers who built to battle each other actually sit at the same table
This was a good point in our history. Two men who created iconic weapons that have undoubtedly directly taken thousands if not hundreds of thousands of lives each, come together in a time of peace and understanding. The 80s and 90s were a nice time.
coolest range day ever - Stoner shooting an AK and Kalashnikov shooting an AR
These reason the mag wouldn't go in was because it was over-loaded. That's why he had that "ah of course" moment at 2:35 and took a round out of it and then it went in no issue. Same thing as when you load 31 rounds in a 30rd AR mag and try to insert it with the bolt closed which I guess only makes sense if yall have ever shot either of these rifles. Also they joke about "bad chinese made gun" but that's a Polytech Legend, literally one of the finest AK variants to come into the US. Norinco (the Chinese company that produced these) worked their asses off to insure the quality of their US imported firearms because the US is a very very profitable firearms market and people will spend A LOT for quality., it was very worth the effort. On top of that Polytech took it further and made hem even better rifles once they came into the country so the rifle he had was not the issue whatsoever.
tl;dr It was just an overloaded magazine issue, it had nothing to do with the rifle. The rifle is very high quality despite the stigma around Chinese made things.
Как думаешь , это сделали специально ( 31 патрон ) ?
they added an extra round to make the ak seem like a hard rifle to reload 😂
@@Genadz13No it was an accident. They just loaded cartridges until it wouldnt take anymore. Most AK magazines won't let you put more than 30 unless you really push hard so someone who didn't know the rifle platform probably filled the magazine or the magazine was really worn in.

I don’t know if Russia liked the ar platform but they liked the 5.56. That’s why the 5.45X39’was born.
Yeah the 5.45 x 39 is only traditional for Russians. That's why Mikhail created his last design 100 series AK101 which can be chambered in 5.56 NATO and for global export.
AR platfor with differen varians from different manufacturers is really popular in Russia among IPSC shooters and firearms enthusiasts! People appreciate it's accuracy, ergonomics, accessories' and OEM parts' availability that allows almost any way of customization imagineable.
The Ar is a better weapon in most Area's
Saying the AR is better in most areas is personal opinion considering the AK has been used in all environments around the world for half a century and can run wet, dry, dirty, clean, has less moving parts, can be cleaned faster, taken apart faster, shoot steel or brass ammo with no issues etc. the AR is great platform, but the AK has been proven more reliable and durable for 50 years. Not crapping on the AR Bc it’s good in its own right. But the AK is the superior weapon in more categories than the AR
@@jakeh6980 I get my opinion from forgotten weapon's Ian and various other sources like military arms channel. Both have said the same. Inrange Tv tested both in mud and the AR outperformed the AK. One area where the Ak seems better is in the cold. Not surprising since it's russian
