Mumbai police was a path breaking movie for malayalam film industry... it is still considered as one of the best.. thrillers 🙌
What path breaking? I didn't hear of that
@@riswanarahim4347 if you are familiar with malayalam film industry and have watched the film you would know..... what i mean...... duh🙄!
Especially today...after the release of Anjam Pathira which is good actually and Forensic (lost everything in the delivery) people started realising how much of a good thriller was Mumbai Police and Memories
Absolutely well said 😁😁
Tbh MP doesn't have relevance in todays world....
Mumbai police has one of the greatest plot twists in Indian cinema
Upvote
Many movies and series copied from its idea. Not soecial anymore
Same here after watching it I watched many malayalam movies especially of prithviraj
Ugh the plot twist was quite silly considering how flimsily it was written(not because of the theme, ony because the writing, the characters, the execution, the assassination plan etc). Quite unconvincing. Otherwise the movie would have remained a cult thriller for ages.
The plot twist was just bizarre. Sorry. I'm a malayali and it's just a one time watch
For those of you who haven't seen Mumbai Police, it is the best investigation thriller made in malayalam. It has one of the most perfect screenplay I've come across and is supported by impeccable acting by the cast.
Fun fact: The remake rights of the movie was sold a long time ago in different languages, but as of now, no actor has shown guts to play the protagonist, portrayed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who is at the top of his game in this film.
The movie is great. The plot twist isn't that great. The assassination bit seemed really filmy and over the top. The other parts were spot on
Exactly.. keeps us deeply invested!
It isn't the best, but it's fine.
Already the movie has been remade in Bengali as Dwitiyo Purush
Maybe because it's not the usual cop role(Singham and Dabangg) something audiences have already seen and liked
In Solo movie, there’s a part called “World of Siva”..dulquer didn’t say a single word during the whole part, but to me, it was the best
But it didn't feel like,
@Aswin Kv and acha (dad) too
It was just amazing acting by Dq and best part in movie.
My fav part of Solo is Shiva & He do it very well as Shiva.. one of the best performance of DQ ❤️
From my understanding, basically, it seemed like the director tried to focus on Shiva/Rudra god's 'sathi viyogam', meaning the pain he suffered when Sathi/Parvathi as Daakshayani left her body during Dakshya Yagna and that enraged Lord Shiva to summon Veerabhadra from his hair strand to demolish Daksha Yagna. Lord Shiva spent ages in anger and unable to withstand the loss of Dakshayani. Later he takes to penance and then Sathi again takes birth as Parvathi and they unite eventually.
Anyways, point is, in all the 4 stories in the movie, the hero is never united with his Sathi (heroine). I did not understand what the hymns between each stories meant, but I could feel he was trying to show the same point, pain/ill fate. You can also look at it as a soul not being able to reach his soulmate in 4 different births and this movie focuses on the fate of that soul, always in pain/remorse/craving for his soulmate.
It's a different story that nobody attempts these kinda movies. Huge respect and love for such script writers n directors and producers and actors, of course.
Cheers. Peace :)
Finally.. Someone talked about Solo... I was so sad to see how people perceived the film Solo. The movie was far ahead of it's time
Exactly!!
I loved solo in the first viewing itself. Story telling at its best.
It was a really good theater experience. One of the few films of Dq that I like.
i watched Solo movie alone there was no one ....in complete hall.i watched in mumbai .
So damn true
Never knew that Mumbai Police was not a box office blockbuster. It is a movie that film lovers in Kerala still love and appreciate.
Superhit aarnu
It is a box office hit for sure
Its a hit but underwhelming, should have been a bigger hi.the twist in the tale is what "angered" a lot of people at the time although things are only slightly better now even though such subjects are still considered taboo! Agree with TRP MP should have made more numbers
Mumbai police was just an average hit in Kerala boxoffice. Budget was around 4cr. And it only collected around 7cr from theaters. But it's satelite rights saved the producer. Malayalees started appreciating this movie only after its TV premiere.
@@amalkumar2775 it was the talk of the town when it released but didnt get the box office pull at that time because Prithviraj still had a lot of haters at that time and Mumbai police was one of the first films that was taking Prithvi back to business.. i watched the movie in a packed theater and as a Prithviraj fan i was happy to see...
Malayalam cinema are always way ahead of bollywood (especially in the crime thriller genre)
Rightly said.

Mumbai police was appreciated well among keralites
Mumbai Police is just WOW. You see 2 Antony Moses in the Film, one before accident and one after it. It seems like two totally different person. Prithviraj was imppecable.
Preach bro✌️...I tried so hard to convince people around me to go see that film when it came out...it felt so bad to watch as it got limited to just another "average successful" movie...deserved much more..
I really enjoyed Wazir, and was extremely upset to see critics calling it stupid
It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was a pretty good movie that deserves praise.
I loved wazir, it was a good movie.
I fount it very predictable....pehle 10 min m hi easily guess kr skte h ki ending m kya ho skta h

Mumbai police is one of the best investigation thriller movie released in malyalm cinema or indian cinema i would say. The courage that prithviraj showed to potray the role on screen which most of the superstar may shy away from doing was commendable. Must watch for every one.
I am not Indian but I want to see the movie... How can I?? 😔

Mumbai Police has one of the biggest plot twists in indian cinema, and is the best thriller movie in india
Quite silly twist. It required more studying and meticulous writing to pull that kind of theme (Refer Moothon). The silly twist was the only reason such a beautifully constructed script felt like it fell flat. Not to mention the atrociously uncreative choice of how the assassination was planned/written.
No it doesn't. Stop overhyping it 🤦♂️
@@neo-noiranathubronthan6045 absolutely. The whole story fell flat right at the end
@@nishilbright2007 I'm from tamil nadu and I started watching this movie because it kept on showing in the hotstar homepage, may be around 3 years ago. Without knowing anything about the movie, I started watching it, just because I felt bored.
I have given 10 stars in imdb only for 4 movies so far and this is one of them. I don't know what the keralites feel about the movie but in my opinion this film deserves a lot of attention
In fact, three twists-who, why and another why -(message on the phone)-any of those twists would have made it a great movie-but all three together made it mindblowing. Another success of the movie is that usually in suspense thrillers the convict is hidden and shown in one or two scenes (think Khiladi) but in this movie, the convict is not hidden from the audience and gets plenty of scenes but practically no one guesses him out.
Srsly the music by Amit trivedi for fitoor is just out of the world. It is probably one of the best album released in the last decade or so still so underrated.

Mumbai police is hugely appreciated movie here in malayalam industry. When it was released 5cr was a big collection in here.
It was not a big collection. Many movies that were released years before mumbai police had collected more money than mumbai police.
Malayalam cinema - The last bastion of great content.
Every industry be it bollywood to Kollywood creates good movies every year.
And then they dump these good movies under thousands of crap movies
And slow taking too
@@ojasthengadi9681 the dump level is comparatively less from Malayalam. Its no secret that malayalam cinema is realistic and simple. The topics they touch are niche and unexplored.
True...but the problem is ppl do not appreciate good content movies coz it doesnt hv good entertainment in Bollywood especially...sinc i am a Malayalee brought up in Mumbai...ive grown up watching mostly Hindi movies...its only off late i am fond of South Movies...to an extent Marathi movies too...coz theres lot of good content including Marathi movies...Hindi movies off late in th recent 2-3yrs or so, theyr also learning and making sm out of the box really good movies...but they need to keep that up and bring in more originality and fresh content
I completely agree!
Marathi Cinema as well!
Mumbai police deserves a solo review in itself .. The most shocked I was too see a movie in theater is MP.. no one I mean no other superstar in India will have the guts to do this role
I also recommend the Malayalam movie "Memories" for you to watch Jammy... It's very underappreciated
You are wrong..... Memories was super hit when it was released in 2013 and still people praise Memories more than Ratchasan
@@fuadabdurahiman8401 it was hit... But it's still underappreciated...like people from other parts of the country haven't really watched it..maybe a few...it's a movie that needs more recognition... according to me

Mumbai police is a cult.. Best thriller from India i would say❤️
Yes it is a cult movie.
When he spoke about Sithakalyanam I almost screamed ❣️❣️❣️ because I love the song so muchhhh even though I don't understand malyalam 💟💟💟
hehe it's not malayalam..I guess karnatik .. usually sung during marriages.. and yeah I think there are newly written lyrics into it too..
@@unwokeist ooopppsss! Sorry my bad, I assumed it's malyalam because the movie was in malyalam. But at the risk of sounding dumb, is not carnatic a kind of music that can be used with any language. And if there's anything offensive here it's purely due to my ignorance😅😅I am sorry
@@supriyabedi197 well it's centuries old kriti or something..me either ain't know what it's meaning is..but thank god, you knew it's Carnatic music for now atleast or you'd be thinking malayalam is a dumb sounding language that could be used along with any other ..hehe 😛
@@supriyabedi197 yup karnatic is the classical music type of South India. Most of the works are mix of Sanskrit and south Indian languages. Sita kalyana is a very old magala kirthana written by Tyagaraja who's like Tanzen for karnatic music. You sing this during auspicious functions, so it's used in all the south states afik, either sung or played in nadaswaram.
The song in solo has like the first line from the original kirthana, and the rest is new song. But ig there are two versions it one in Tamil and one in thelugu bcs the movie is released in multiple languages.
@@awkwardfangirl7682 @supriya bedi.
The song in the movie is primarily in Tamil with few english lyrics (If you're seeing the undubbed Malayalam/ Tamil version). It's a song composed by Sooraj Kurup.
Only the first line of the Thyagaraja kriti in Carnatic music has been used. Even the music is different from the traditional Carnatic kriti. So, other than the first three words, there is no connection.
Fitoor was a beautiful movie, but indian audience is more intrested in movies lice race 3 and baaghi 3🤷♂️🤷♂️.
@South Indian Hindi Dubbed Full Movies Bollywood is also indian
Having read Great Expectations, I felt that they could have done better with the story. Tabu was the only saving grace for me.
It's great to see Bejoy Nambiar's film in this list. He is so good in storytelling, with new concepts and techniques. Shaitan, David, Wazir, Solo, he is too good to be true. I love his crafts ❤️

I only watched Wazir because I found out John Abraham has a special appearance in the film and me being a huge John Abraham fan, watched it. Let me tell you - the movie did not disappoint at all. Every second and minute was interesting and gripping and was just amazing. I went from being a fan watching a film for my idol to questioning why the Indian audience rejects wonderful masterpieces like these. Farhan and Amitabh gave an excellent performance and Aditi was awesome all throughout. And John, even though he's role was quite small, I still enjoyed the film. Was a shame to see it do only below average in box office, but still, a must watch!
Thank you Jammy for pointing out masterpieces we need to see :)
I also watched it for same reason.
Wasn't it Neil Nitin Mukesh who had a special appearance
Hi Anmol. I have below a list of movies I'd really love for you to watch. Whether you want to review them or not is upto you I don't mind either. But since you appreciate good cinema:
1. Iruvar (starring mohanlal)
2. Thondimuthalum driksakshiyum (starring Fahad faasil)
3. Thoovanathumbikal, Thanmathra, kireedam, bharatham (old movies all starring mohanlal) watch just for his acting if you wish
4. Anbe sivam (starring Kamal Hassan)
5. Kaaka muttai (I personally feel you'll enjoy this lighthearted movie)

Mee too.... 👍
This is why Indian films doesn't get an Oscar....
Anime GaG Why do people keep going on about Indian movies and Oscars? Why aren’t people happy with national awards or the equivalent? Why not be proud of what the nation offers rather than chasing the awards of another industry and country? You don’t see them moaning about we didn’t get a national award this year and let’s cry about it.
Oscars honour English movies but only movies like parasite win because they were better than films we Indians give many good films that we don't know which one to nominate and end up nominating wrong films
Fan Aus Largely honour American cinema, as it’s their awards! Parasite was most likely a one off, but the point I was making was that you don’t see Koreans moaning that they didn’t win an Oscar, it they get it they get it? Comments here sound like that’s the ultimate aim, surely the aim is to make the best cinema you can? No worry about another country’s awards? What’s wrong with the Indian awards, are they not enough? Are we that desperate for validation?
Stop this Oscar obsession
@@redroom_movies190the guys who gives national awards doesn't even know cinema how do you expect us to satisfy by national award. As you know about Indian criticism. The makers are not even free to show nudity , curse words , violence. And we show they boycott the film.

I madly fell in love with sita kalyanam just the first time I heard it randomly in utube and from then onwards I kept on looking for this movie all over, asked my Tamil friends but hardly anyone knew, until finally I downloaded n watched it and it's deeply rooted in my heart... One of the best I watched ♥️
the best part is....i have watched all films
Very nice picks and was mind blown by solo after watching it few hours ago. Check out “Memories” and “7th Day” both good Prithvi Raj thrillers.. the former being too good...
Prithvi’s current movie “ Ayyapannum Koshiyum” which is a new Malayalam movie currently on prime about male egos clash is a treat to watch as well and the rights have allready been sold for telegu and tamil remake. Catch them if you can..
Misunderstood and / or under-appreciated and / or forgotten films -
Rocket Singh - Salesman of the year
Urf Professor
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero
Supermen of Malegaon (Documentary)
Shiva (1990)
Ramayan: the legend of Prince Ram (animated)
Arjun: the warrior Prince (animated)
Ankush (1986)
Maaficha Saakshidar (1986)
Thanks for this.. I would also add Moothon.. a very recent Malayalam movie.. I saw many people walking out of theater in the second half and for me that was the best part :D in a good way.. shows really the mentality of people around.. well shot and good performances.. still remember “pigeon” scene between Nivin and Roshan Mathew..
