I am a very poor man. I can't afford my own coffee. What I CAN do is tell you about Cam Cole. If you love music like you claim to, you will LOVE Cam Cole!!! Away is his best song, imo. Tattoo Rings is great, too
Hi Polo. you could do reaction vids and revisit vids. where you revisit your favorite songs and ones that grew on you over time. you would be the trendsetter. play it right and a million could be a few months away my man
This entire album is fire
Understatement of the year
Fire 🔥🔥
Who do I pay to upvote this comment a million times? Thats how democracy works right? Best album ever.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🥶🥶
I had that CD on repeat for like all of 2001 lol
Amazing debut album! Quick story about APC:
They were about to play a club gig at a music festivalin Kristiansand, Norway in July 2000, and my best friend came down from Oslo to see. He got on the train, but didn't get seating, so had to stand in the back. One other person stood there without seating, a Latin woman. After a while they got talking and he asked her if she was going to the festival. "Yeah, she said. She was playing, in fact. "Cool! What band? ", my friend asked. "A Perfect Circle", she replied.
This was how he met Paz Lechantin, the great Argentinian bass player of APC, a band we really adored at the time. She went to the festival before the rest of the band, as she was together with the guitarist in Nine Inch Nails, who also were playing.
They talked all the way on the four hour trip and she put my buddy on the guest list for APC and NIN, and he got back stage to meet up with the band and all. Long time ago now, but when we were 19 years old, to meet Maynard was PRETTY mindboggling! 😄
“everything he touches turns to gold” is EXACTLY why I have always jokingly referred to Maynard as Midas James Keenan, so glad to hear someone else use that exact phrase. 🤜🤛 I would highly recommend The Noose for your next APC reaction, widely regarded as one of their best songs.
Most likely, Maynard recognizes talent and get involved with people he feels connected and have the same level of commitment. It's no coincidence all his projects are as successful as they are. He is a master surrounded by masters
A Perfect Circle has a rotating cast of band members, or at least they did early on, with Maynard and Billy Howerdel being the mainstays. This track in particular features Tim Alexander of Primus fame on the drums. He also worked with Maynard on many Puscifer projects.
Great reaction as always Polo!
Polo loves Primus too so I'm sure he'll appreciate that!
Antipop is my shit!!
I thought it was the great Josh Freese...im always prepared to be wrong tho😊
@@oldnsleepysmitty5503Tim Alexander was originally supposed to be the drummer for APC...
That's why he did the drums on the album opener "The Hollow", while Josh did the rest of the album...
Both amazing drummers.
This entire album, I still listen on repeat on road trips! The sounds and layers hit my soul! 🤟🔥
Another banger from this album you will guaranteed like is Three Libras.
Love your story Polo, I know what you mean by loving music and feeling it. I grew up listening to music and playing the violin in the public schools orchestra. I too FEEL the music, it runs through my body.
In the industry we tend to place listeners in one of two categories. Passive listeners, and active listeners. The passive variety are more or less just interested in something they can bob their head to. Active listeners are actively interested and involved with all the individual elements that make up a song.
@@ShonnDaylee Well put
@@ShonnDaylee , I totally agree! Every sound, the rhythm, melody, the riffs and changes all contribute to the sound. MUSIC LOVER2 💥
@@ShonnDayleeYes! I completely relate to that.
That’s Tim Alexander from Primus on drums only song he’s featured in
Been one of my favorite songs for years by a perfect circle.
This one and orestes
Orestes Live at Red Rocks is so good too!!
Based on previous reactions you'd absolutely adore Magdalena by them. I guarantee it.
Magdalena! ❤️
This is one of the few bands I love more live. Not saying the studio tracks are not fire but there’s something about some of the changes that they do live that just makes it hit differently! Super reaction! ❤❤
I saw them touring Thirteenth Step and they were incredible.
2010 Mer de Noms' Live version is way better than studio album, in my opinion. They arranged the songs so beautifully, that you get a different vibe from it. I highly recommend it
I agree.
Tool is my favorite band of all time, but Mer De Noms is my favorite album of all time ~ It's the GOAT! I bought it the day it came out, as every Tool fan did back then, to get through waiting for the next new Tool album. I was blown away, still my favorite album as a whole to this day, it never gets old.
Would love to see apc live. There’s a red rocks concert on utube I listen to often. At 69 years old I will soon be seeing Tool for the first time. This old granny can’t wait!
I love this!! And I promise, you will not be disappointed.
I was at that Red Rocks concert 🤘🤘
This song along with the entire album is amazing. I remember their tour with NIN's way back in early 2000s
I dig how humble you are. You say you don't know much about music but you do. And then when you don't, you're honest about it but I think you know more than the average bear. Keep on rocking my man
I saw A Perfect Circle open for Nine Inch Nails back in the day. Amazing concert.
Damn.. 😍
Jealous! 😜 I am.
Every other track on this album, the drummer is Josh Feese, but in this recording, their original drummer recorded it. His name is atom Alexander, and he is the original drummer for Primus.
Such a good song and great one to kick off an album. They do pack a lot into this song, which is a short one. Glad you love it.
I feel the music... it's a deep thing for me.
Thank you Polo. Not for the reaction, but for being thoughtful and introspective and observant and just.. you. Thank you for letting us know we aren’t alone.
This is pretty much my favorite album of all time. Sonically perfect in every way.
The thing I love most about you is just how "quick" you are at appreciating all of the important stuff.
I've been a Tool fan forever, but only very recently started getting into A Perfect Circle. And Jesus fucking tits, I love this band. And I hadn't heard this song yet. I owe you drinks, man. This is fabulous.
Check out the whole album ‘mer de noms’ then
@@kasperrieberg3495 I'll do that, and thank you.
@@Stupha_Kinpendous
No worries 👍 From one Tool fan to another !
I’m sure you especially will love the track ‘Judith’ on that album….
Another Maynard song to his mom
@@kasperrieberg3495 Oh, yeah. Just heard that for the first time a couple of days ago. Blew me away. I cannot believe it took me so long to listen to this band.
@@Stupha_Kinpendous
Enjoy it mate 🙏 Nice ‘talking’ to you
And take care
The reason you like the drums so much is because this is the only track A Perfect Circle recorded with Tim “Herb” Alexander, the drummer from Primus.
Yes sir. I believe they had Josh re-record, but decided to stick with Herb's track? Guess Billy didn't find Herb to be the right fit for APC, even though he sounds amazing on The Hollow. I read Billy worked with Josh on GnR recordings, so maybe they got comfortable over there.
Tim Alexander (A Perfect Circle) - 'The Hollow' live drum cam:

Probably just a re-recording right?
EDIT: And here's Josh's drum track, which was released on The Hollow single: czcams.com/video/JYc3rn0viQw/video.html
This whole album is fire Judith is on this too.
💯 to everyone stating the entire album is fire!! Thirteenth Step is too!! One of the few bands that you can listen to the entire album not wanting to skip 1 song!
Don't insult Maynard with that rubbish
@@leecarmichael5449 How am I insulting Maynard? Let's see how pretentious your answer is.
@@rnrweb1968love them all but 13th step is my fav and I don't care how non- it sounds lol
I am so excited you are checking out A Perfect Circle! I would definitely recommend “The Outsider” by them as well. Gets the blood pumping!
Polo, you actually know the drummer on this track already. That's Tim Alexander from Primus! The rest of this album features Josh Freese...both killers of their craft! ✌️
Fun fact, this song has Primus' drummer Tim Alexander.
Primus sucks 😉
A certain level of maturity when you realize there are a multitude of lives. ☮️💜Peace, young man 🎶😎
I understand completely Polo when you shared your story about your friend's pantry filled with different snacks. I too had such a similar experience growing up and I still today can sense those feelings of awe. This band and especially the drums is great. I will have to search for more of their music. I had not heard them before. Thanks! Have a great, energized, and fun filled day Polo!
I look forward to your reaction to "3 Libras", in my opinion their most beautiful song. 🤘
APC actually sounds this good live. You just can’t say that with hardly any music outside the Tool-verse💯🔥
Puscifer is super good live too! Pure entertainment! 🤘
That’s how I am ! I feel music in my body ! I was shocked when I realized not all people feel it like I do ! Total shock and pity for them !
If you don't feel music you're empty, the lifeline, the meaning, you're missing out of life's beautiful things
Josh Freese is on the drums. He’s ridiculously good on this album. He is also currently touring with Foo Fighters.
Tim Alexander on this one friend.
@@feintcircles Damn. Totally forgot he played on this one
It's the layers that draw us in Polo. So many layers. Like an ocean of layers.
They played their first live show in ‘99 at the Viper Club in LA before anyone knew about the band. Imagine being there that night 😮
Great reaction- can’t believe that A Perfect Circle, Puscifer & Primus are touring the US together … for Maynard’s Birthday!I wish a tour like that would come to the UK
Tim Alexander, from Primus, performed the studio drumming on this song. The rest of the album was performed by Josh Freese. You're right, straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nobody sings like Maynard. Nobody. But even on top of his vocal ability, there is his lyricism. Very rare combination.
I started at 13, going in and out of foster homes and detention centers, I'm 57 now, and that part of my life definitely made me stronger when it comes to dealing with disappointment and what life has to throw at you, and I always knew that there were people with it a lot worse than me,I cherish and appreciate the family I have now,as do you.
Billy provides some amazing background vocals on this as well. Especially live!
Billy Howerdel wrote the music for APC back when him and Maynard were roommates. He was also TooLs guitar tech. He is incredible. Check out his band Ashes Divide. Sorry I'm late to the party.
They've had a few drummers but I believe this was josh freese who is now the foo fighters current drummer! That entire album is on another level!!
It is Tim Alexander on this track but Freese did most of the albums drums.
The drummer from this album is now in the Foo Fighters...
You’re kind of right… this song is the drummer from Primus, Tim Herb Alexander. But Josh Freese who plays the rest of the album is most definitely touring with the Foo’s 👍🏻
@@STIcKMaN_78 Cool, good to know!
This live on David letterman Maynard’s voice flawless.
Nothing but love for Mer De Noms. One of my all time favorite albums. It’s saved me more than once
I enjoy the anecdotes. You seem like a cool and down to earth dude.
It's the drummer from Primus... Tim Alexander! Man this track takes me straight back to 2000
APC has haf multiple drummers. Josh Freese was one of the early amd main drummers but he didnt play this track. However you will love hos drumming on the rest of thoa album and 13th step
I call them 5 listen bands. When you cant possibly take it all in (thats what she said) in one session, then by 5 listens you will have a hanfle on it, and it usually means its amazing.
Cheers.
Thank you, polo, for introducing me to music and musicians. I've never heard or even heard of I enjoy your channel immediately, thank you again.
Great choice!
This was the opener on their debut album, Mer des Noms, and back when that mattered, it was a great way to open the album
Totally relate to pantry and cd player and really loving music. Badass. Also I love going back to this song and album and u nailed it. Just fun and great listening. Josh freeze drums and Paz on bass with that feel in the chest. So sick. Cheers
Being a former DJ,I very much understand what you mean by feel the music. I used to get SO into what I was playing I broke my equipment once or twice. Lol
The guitarist foe APC funny enough was tools guitar tech for undertow and aenima. He actually moved into maynards house in 98 and when Maynard would hear these riffs he would say i can see myself sunging on those. Billy originally wanted a female vocalist and maynard saw it as a way to evolve his voice as he was getting older and the screams werent going as well.
Josh freese is the drummer he recently took over for taylor Hawkins in the Foo Fighters after he died
This was Tim Alexander of Primus fame, but they toured with Josh Freese as their drummer, and he is perhaps a notch down from Danny Carey, but only a notch. Freese is a prolific session drummer who has played for literally everyone, from Devo to the Vandals to NIN to GnR to APC, and that only scratches the surface. He's now the drummer for the Foo Fighters, and to be honest, APC hasn't been as good since he and Paz left the band.
Awesome song
Tis the drummer from Primus, Tim "Herb" Alexander
Paul McCartney and Wings, Medicine Jar, by Denny Laine, from the lp Venus and Mars lp
I remember this the day I got married. 👍
Hay! Just literally realized that the suburbs you spoke of could very well been one of mine! Interesting fact back in tha day (so 96-99) it wasn’t “cool” to listen to this type of music..So my first experiences of “feeling” music isn’t something I could really complain about (Pac, BTNH, 112, Master P, TLC, etc) HOWEVER, I missed out on experiencing the great MJK and his art! Not until I first embraced recovery (like FR FR abstinence) did I have I guess the “mental capacity” to allow me to fully enjoy and appreciate all things Maynard and Co. lol love the channel hun! 🤘 @poloreacts27 (APC LIVE AT REDROCKS is just a masterpiece)
I still have my CD case. I also still have my cassette tapes from my childhood. Lol.
This is from a legit front to back album.
Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.
To address your first part. Sounds were here before music as sounds make up music. What i mean by that is imagine how many different sounds there have ever been, before, no longer, will be, etc, and when you realize how vast that is you can truly thank that whoever you want that we all interpret music differently. If we all did the same way, how boring would that be? New sounds would then never be created. Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you have passion for music. When you where younger the music you listened to made a connection, so now your passion is exploring new music and how it makes feel. Keep that passion
Nah some ppl just for some reason can't feel music like others. I found myself chking friends like how do you not feel this!" Blew my mind. Agree with 100%
Polo, you got to do Magdalena as album track after The Hollow. Has it's own melodies and power for contrast and proof of how good their music is
Very similar story, grew up poor in southern wv, grew attached to music and began collecting cds as a teen.. i was into rock and grunge tho and have had to go back to the rap i missed..
MJK is absolutely unmatched in my opinion! He has hundreds masterful compositions, no-one else is even close!
Thanks for sharing about yourself, POLO. Sending you love ❤
I think the same way as you do. I get excited about having discussions around music, interpretations & what feelings come up. That's probably why I'm here!
This was by far the best album to come out in '2000.
You described me to the T at the beginning of the video, I forget sometimes that some people aren’t as passionate about music as I am, or that they don’t know certain bands, I’ve just already been so passionate and had an emotional connection to music, and have this need to know where that song came from or what it’s about, I just hear music differently than normal people do I guess
I love this song. Thank you for sharing a little bit about your life. I can relate! I remember the first time I went to a friend's house who had hostess ding dongs in her kitchen. I was shocked and amazed, lol
Harry Nilsson - “Without You”
Polo you should do podcasts or book audio. I could listen to you talk for hours. Your so kind and calm. 😊
Thank you for sharing that personal experience about your youth. Always a grounding moment when I hear things like that to remind me of the most important thing in life to me. Perspective.. you are greatly appreciated
Looooooove this song. I remember buying this CD when I was 17, and this song was just the perfect opening track. This album is hands down one of my favorites of all time.
Mer De Noms, Aenema,Lateralus, then 13th Step. Do it in that order. 4+ hours of an absolutely brilliant journey 👌 i feel they flow, maybe its just me but it works ❤
Beautiful song
Thank you for sharing but it truly broke my heart wish I could hug you polo!
Thank you for sharing your story. I grew up in poverty and didn’t know any different until I had children of my own and I realized quickly that I was neglected. But hey brother, we survived!!! ❤🤗🥰
Love your reactions. As a side note, your studio set up is sweet, the close up with the balance thingy moving and the color grading. It’s pleasant to watch. Thanks.
My favorite APC song. So damn good
This song is too good to be so short.
My whole life i knew my mom loved classic rock grunge and metal. But my dad, never knew. I asked him one day what kind of music he liked and he didn't really have an answer. He doesnt even listen to the radio in the car. I LOVE AND FEEL music. Like my mom. Not like my dad
Billy Howerdel and James Iha-guitars, Paz Lechantin-bass, Josh Freese-drums.
Sorry, but I got to be a nerd here but for this recording I think it’s Tim Alexander-drums Paz -bass Troy Van Leeuwen- guitar Billy Howedel-guitar Maynard-pipes ☮️❤️✅
@@zend8062 I appreciate the correction, sir and/or madam. So many come and go through that band-I'm a devotee and still can't remember who exactly was what where. For me, it's Maynard, Billy and some other guys. (Apart from Paz, of course!)
Maynard just knows what we want musically and lyrically
This is my favorite A Perfect Circle song, possibly my favorite Maynard song
Like the video to vote for more A perfect circle on the channel
Given the story about your childhood, I would recommend "The Stranger" on the album 13th step. I'll warn you, though, it gets my eyes a little teary. It's a haunting song.
Listen to the entire album. Start to finish, it is a masterpiece. No song is out of place. Tool is otherworldly, but A Perfect Circle's "Mer da Noms" is one of the greatest pieces of music to ever happen. **Tim Alexander is the drummer for that track by the way!** The other tracks are done by Josh Freese.
The Hollow is definitely one of the more under-rated APC songs - one of my favs!
Thank you Polo for sharing some of your journey. 🙏 Need to watch out for the 'Pantry Morticians'. ...my new band, wanna be in it? Lol Thanks for reaction good sir.
Whatup Cleveland?! Sending good metal vibes from Dayton!
Naked Eyes, self titled lp, 1983, great lp
